Now I had always believed that it was just a little too convenient that Paul just happened to be in Los Angeles when all of the shit was going down. It is really no surprise to me that his name came up, and when you think about the time he spent at CTU, some interesting scenarios start to form. When Audrey gets into contact with him, he is about to check out. In order to get him to stay, she tells him she wants to talk about their marriage. He agrees, but when Audrey tell Jack about her plan, he is very upset. Nevertheless, she decides to drive to the hotel anyway.

Jack had sent Tony back with Dina and Behrooz. If there isn't an A-list actor accompanying you, you are sure to get killed, so we were all happy to see them make it back to CTU safely. Driscoll sends Behrooz and his mother to get some medical attention, and then hands Tony his badge and gun. It's not going to be weird having him around at all she says, but just to make sure, she tells Sarah to spy on him. I hope she learned from her shitty job keeping tabs on Chloe and does a better job this time doing her surveillance without getting caught.

Curtis and his team have arrived to Powell's office. I know there is lots of shit going down in the world, but you think that somebody would have been there doing something. There is absolutely nobody around. It makes you think like it is a perfect setup for an ambush. Marianne gets to Powell's computer, uses her fingerprint to gain access, but the file also has a password protection. Just as she is about to enter the password, some armed men take out the "security team" and tell them to stop what they are doing. Marianne begs for her life, but the men don't care. In fact, one of them probably senses that she talks a lot and so he shoots her in the chest and she dies. Damn! I thought she was a great villian and added a lot to the show. She is also very hot. She is going to be missed.

The guys who came in then start asking Curtis some questions about what he was doing there. It seems that they have something to do with the defense contractor. Curtis doesn't answer their questions, and so they knock him out, and drag him away. I refrained from calling these guys terrorists, and no it wasn't because of Kiefer's public service announcement. My hunch is that they are from another government agency. It's probably why they didn't just kill Curtis in the first place. In any case, I hope he gets sensory deprivation torture and not a bullet in the leg.

Audrey has made it to the hotel, and is trying to stall Paul until Jack and the backup team get there. It is obvious that she is a horrible liar. As the minutes go by, she is getting more and more antsy. Paul has been patient, but he thinks he actually has a shot of saving his marriage. When it's obvious that is not the reason she was there, he loses his temper, and she throws some accusations his way. Audrey tries to leave, but he stops her. Before he can lay a hand on her, Jack rushes in to save the day. He has a gun to Paul's head, and he REALLY wants some answers this time. There is only another hour or so before another reactor goes down, and if he knows anything about the override, intentionally or not, Jack is going to find out.

It's impressive how they didn't ask for more security on the whole Marianne computer part. Ask for some SWAT teams, or at least some normal cops. The whole thing was such an obvious trap.

What about that Marine Strike Team? CTU surely could've used them there. It's not like they are bound to rules and legislation.

I loved the previews for next week, Jack, a car battery and Audrey's ex husband shackled to a chair, it's a beautiful thing.

Seems to me Edgar was a lot tougher on Sopranos - season 2. I expect he will go nuts soon and yell out " I handled Pussy !!!"

This show stinks, but I love the reviews.

6 days to Amazing Race !!

I had an epiphany yesterday. Heller's behind it all.

J-unit, i'm right there with you--how my pulse quickens with the sound of kiefer's voice saying 'the following takes place between . . '! and the writers have definitely kept the tension high through the mid-point of the season, where things tended to flail a bit in the last two installments.

but once i started thinking about it, the plot holes started popping up. for instance:

navi araz knows dina is loyal to the cause and has only defected to save behrooz. he also knows there's no way he's getting out of that building alive without being taken into custody. behrooz tells Navi his wife will talk if he kills his son, but wouldn't Navi be able to deduce that dina would have nothing to gain from talking if behrooz was already dead? and, if Dina's not holding out and really doesn't know any more than she's told jack already, why wouldn't navi just kill behrooz and then himself immediately rather than risk being taken alive?

already mentioned above was the fact that, yet again, a CTU 'security team' consisted of two guys with handguns who were so easily overcome that neither even got a shot off to warn curtis that trouble was on the way. when they moved timothy mcveigh around, they had him in a flak jacket surrounded by dozens of armored SWAT. wouldn't they at least give the bitch a bulletproof vest? you knew as soon as she left CTU that aisha was either going to escape or get capped, but damn! CTU sure looks like the mayberry sheriff's office sometimes.

lastly--ex-husband or no, wouldn't paul's involvement with galaxy and his sudden and oh-so coincedental appearance from across the atlantic on the same day she gets kidnapped and nearly killed--twice--make her just a wee bit suspicious that, oh, i don't know, maybe paul helped set her up to be killed by the terrorists? would she really specifically disobey her father--also her boss--when national security is on the line? would the daughter of a cabinet member who was nearly assassinated twice that same day really be permitted to drive herself around los angeles with no protection in the middle of an ongoing terrorist attack? and why couldn't they just call the hotel and tell them to lock the son of a bitch in his room?

but really, who cares? i haven't had so much fun watching TV since 'the A team.' the acting is great, the characters are appealing and convincing, and the narrative is moving fast enough that you don't really notice the gaps in logic. this season rocks like all get out.

I liked how Sarah blackmailed Driscoll into a new position and paygrade. I said wow! Kick ass! So I tried it this morning with my boss and, wow! She kicked my ass right out the door.

Man, last week's was so boring and I was sure the mid-season slide into the pit of who gives a damn had started, but then they drop this episode on us. Now I don't know what to think.

However, Behrooz is still a pussy. A huge pussy. It's his face that does it.

Now if only Maya Driscoll would get thrown out of a window.

Jack said, "Wouldn't they at least give the bitch a bulletproof vest?"

Funny and amen.

I think b-side said it last week-- in CTU custody you're lucky to live out the minute, much less the day.

All this and no mention of the "other" Raines in the ep? That's right, the goatee'd man (Forbes) who captured Curtis is none other than Mr. Raines from "The Pretender", Richard Marcus.

C'mon, Mr. Raines!!!

Notice that Jack has been setting up a lot of hard perimeters this season. Every time he gives orders he requests setting up a hard perimeter. Did Jack go to a CTU hard perimeter training session during the summer?
