In the end though, it was Chip and Kim, one of my favorites during the whole race. They broke down in happiness, and even my heart, being at least two sizes too small, warmed listening to them talk about how much it meant to them and how great an example it would be for their kids to see what determination could do. Honestly, it was great to see them because they really seemed to enjoy each other, and enjoy their time traveling. They didn't fight that much with each other, and were always shrewd enough whenever that got into a dangerous position. Colin and Christie finished second, and Colin didn't even go ballistic. In and understatement of the year, he said that he thought he and Christie could be together for a long time as long as "she could put up with me". We hope, for Christie's sake, that time period is only another cumulative five minutes, but her attitude was to the contrary. Although Chip and Kim won the game, Colin proved himself to indeed be the most intense person alive. Even after watching the race, there is nobody else from this season I would even think about taking around the world should I have to go on a similar race.

This was as exciting an hour of television as has been on all year, and we get to do it again for Amazing Race 6 in just a few weeks. We hope you join TVGasm as we cover the action each week.

I just finished my Big Brother post, so I haven't even had time to read this recap, but i will just say that the two hour finale was superb. Honestly, this is why the show wins the Emmys. I would wager to say that these two hours were the most intensely exciting I've seen all year on TV or film. Yes, I said it. The Bourne Identity came close, but last night's episode was gripping from start to finish in a way that is very difficult for any movie to be. There were so many twists, emotions, and unpredictable obstacles (flight delays, anyone?) that the tension was palpable. Fantastic.

And beautiful screencaps, J-Unit!

"From the Philippines, teams made their way to Alberta, Calgary. That's in Canada for your Ignorant Americans..."

Actually, it's Calgary, Alberta.

What's been fascinating this season was how often other teams turned bitter toward Chip and Kim over small, reasonable tactics when the same teams failed to fully acknowledge that Chip's generosity kept them in the game. Brandon was angry that Chip lied as though Chip were not his competition. If Brandon and Nicole really meant to win then they should have determined to do the work rather than skate on other people's assistance, then refusing to return the favor.

Colin and Christie played so well it's kind of a shame they didn't win, but they were beaten quite fairly by the rules of the game. That airport was the deciding factor. Awesome.

Juz finish watching the amazing race. its like kinda of wasted the C & C didnt win as they really played pretty well.

But neverthelss, chip n kim deserve to win too!! they were such a joivial pair to watch! GREAT RACE N GREAT WEBSITE! too bad its over, will be waiting for the next amazing race!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORKS GUYS! this website has kept me accompany thro the race! :-)

Ladyj,

It's nor surprising how hypocritical Brandon and Nicole were the whole season. They have not looked out for anybody this season, and had no trouble leaving people behind whether it be on the road or in the airport. I can sort of understand Colin and Christie being upset, because of the yield and because they really thought Chip and Kim were their friends. Still, it pays to be ruthless in this game, especially on the final leg of the race.

In general, it was great to see everybody so happy at the end, not something you see often on reality television.

This was such an awesome finale! Me & my girlfriend were jumping up and down, so happy for Chip & Kim. It was ridiculous. You would of thought we had won the million dollars.

Colin & Christie, if you're reading this, please, get help.

Christians, if you're reading this, this is a competition for a lot of $$. People aren't just goin give you the answers & let you win. Duh!

p.s. I like the other font you guys use better. This one hurts me :)

OMG my heart was about to explode the last hour of the show! when they got to denver, i was doing a little dance, because it is a LONG ASS HAUL to the american concourse from the united concourse!

for those of you that missed it this morning, i was watching the CBS early show (which i DO NOT recommend over good morning america) and the last 4 teams were all on, you ready for this? brace yourself:

COLIN PROPOSED TO CHRISTIE on air, live! of course she said yes, because she already have plenty to concealer from those times she fell down in the bathrooms at the pit stops.

colins mom (who is a total dyke btw) was saying "i kept expecting him to propose with each passing episode, and he never did!"

what episode? the one with the ox? or the one in india? or the one where he lost his temper? oh wait...

I was really rooting for the moms but I kind of knew they wouldn't win. But they made it really far into the game. Seriously, I hope that Christy's friends and/or family has an intervention with her about they way Colin treats her. The dude has some issues. Behind the bowling moms, Chip and Kim were my next favorite so I am glad they won. It was a great 2 hours!

Hell yeah, last night's AR finale got me higher than Tony Montana in the last scene of "Scarface." Jerry Bruckheimer has made some seriously crappy movies ("Pearl Harbor" and "Coyote Ugly" leap to mind), and I'll never forgive him for resurrecting the career of the insufferable David Caruso on "CSI: Miami," but you've got to hand it to the guy--AR is as good as reality TV gets.

Like j-unit and a couple of other posters, I too found myself feeling sorry for Darth Colin and Ms. Texas, especially when they shocked us all by being incredibly gracious and sportsmanlike about losing. But hey--the producers did everything they could to get C&C back in the race. Surely the dashing Phil K. knew Colin would fly up that rope like Spider-man, and the final detour definitely gave an edge to the younger teams. And having the bastard son of Mario Andretti waiting for them at DFW was sheer genius. Where did they find that guy? Is there a listing for 'getaway driver' in the Dallas phone book?

Anyway, many congrats to the ever-likable Chip & Kim and thanks to you TVGASM cats for making it so much more fun to veg out and waste my life in front of the tube. Y'all are great.

Love the red leaf hats.

I'm excited again just reading the recap.

Yes. The best ending for an otherwise mediocre beginning. I am so damn happy Chip & Kim won! Finishing over the woman beater & the bible beater had me jumping up and down. I think Colin (aka Kevin Bacon's younger psychotic brother) and Yellow Rose of Texas must have been paid off or some serious editing was done. What was with all the sweetness coming from Colin during that last episode talking about what a dumbass American he is....What? No throwing money at ignorant indigenous foreigners who can't speak English! for shame for shame. If the two of you are headed for marriage -- please for the sake of yourselves and all of humanity, get some counseling. You both need it. As far as Chip & Kim, you played a very fair game. You were nice to everyone and were perfectly aggressive when you needed to be. No couple deserved the win more than the two of you! Can't wait for the next Amazing Race and tvgasm recaps!

my fear now is that colin & christie will breed. not that i fear the offspring of that union of evil so much as how those poor kids will turn out. extreme intensity = messed up kids.

i'm surprised the christians aren't engaged by now. from the pre-show videos on cbs insider, you can tell nicole is having a hard time waiting til marriage!

Dear B-Unit and J-Side:
Great freakin commentaries that made me laugh all year round.
Jenn from Alberta VO5...Get a real Country, Town. I would not admit I was in Canada even if I was a Hostage. No hate, but you are bland and so is your over taxed country. The "Montreal Canadians" are right to suceed.
Both, Christie and her Massive jugs and Nicole with her "thank God for silicone jugs" arroused us males, it could not take away from both the money-hungering fact that they each had and the fact that they were so inferrior (sp) to their men. Hell, Nicole even admitted it. I sorta thought Brandon was semi holey-rollering it, but when I saw his Bible on his tray-top table on the flight, i actually admired him for his convictions. But the major coux (sp) was when Christie choked the words Karma refering to Chip and Kim, while Colin was sweating his ass off climbing a mountain. Did she ever hear that Karma will bite you in the ass? It's for those who are sure in their head that they are always right. I LOVE Chip and Kim, and the fact that these 40+ year olds beat these grommets was great. The Amazing Race deserves thier Emmy. This is, by far, the best show (reality/non) on T.V. Kisses all.............Mick

I just read Jash and Jack....Great, hilarious and thought provoking thoughts' guys. Later, Mick

Hey J-unit, Chip's gut is larger than either of the Moms'. No, you're not cruel, just a sexist ass-wipe.

Colin proposed? Not highly suprised, but ewwwwww.

Btw, I wouldn't be suprised if the Christian guy were gay. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but my gaydar is usually pretty good.

LW,

I thought a walrus allusion would have been appropriate for Chip, but I'm not smart enough to fit two documentary references in the same post. I also wanted to wait to make fun of Chip's weight until the luge portion of the recap.

Yours,

J-"Title IX" Unit

Jeez...for 12 weeks it has been the I heart Chip and Kim club. Now we are talking about his bread-basket? Not for nothing, but I hear that both Linda and Mute Lady were younger. Look at my "husky" Chip scale that mountain.
BTW...At least Chip, whom I've read from AP reports is a minister...he never preached and made the viewer know he was this God fearing person. It's always the people who wear their religion on their sleeve that are the one's to worry about. I never saw Nicole smile until she heard one million dollars. Cripes, even "Jesus, on top of the snowy mount" <---like he'd go to Canada!, could not stop her crocodile tears.
I yearn for the STAR MAGAZINE article 2008 wherin Colin is arrested for Domestic Abuse. Although, he seemed pretty normal in Congratulating C&K.

P.S. Nicole is a model? Pennysaver?
Maybe in Alberta VO5...which we all learned is in the boring...boring ...land of Canada

Love and Kisses, M

love chip and kim...they were my favourite from the beginning....colin needs some serious help...i hope when christie watched the episodes and sees how abusive he is...she'll leave him...he's insane...i though when brandon offered to piggy-back nicole when she was crying, it was sooo cute! well..lovin all these little summaries of the episodes...cant wait till amazing race 6...

guys don't be too hard on colin. i think colin and christie deserve to win the race more than anyone else. because thay played the game fairly. no tricks, no lies, no yields. they didn't hurt or anyone, they just played their game. it wasn't their fault if they're too damn good at this game that other teams envy and feel threatned by them. i think they were just victims of bad editing. plus the pressures of the race. in fact thsoe fights they had was a good sign that they were that comfortable with each other. they show no pretenses. okay, we all saw colin shout at chrisie many times but we don't know the whole story. we don't know if christie shouted back or maybe there are times that it was christie who shouted at colin. we don't know the whole story. only their cameraman does.

as for chip and kim, i don't think that they deserve to win. they just got lucky at the airport. oh, well luck was part of the game. they may seem biblical but they're not practicing what they preach. it's one thing to not share information but it's another thing to lie.

as for brandon and nicole, i think they don't have enough drive to win the race. but making it to the final three is already an achievement. they might've been contented with that.

fyi: the girl who welcomed the teams at the pit stop at the coconut palace in manila, Philippines (the episode where colin and christie were yeilded and almost got eliminated) is the president's daughter.

The great thing about The Amazing Race is that the team that wins always deserves it. there's no voting involved, so it's not an issue of "who deserved it." Whoever makes it to the finish line did what it takes to win, and for better or for worse, they deserve it.

By the way, Colin and Christie did use the fast forward at one point. Does that count as trickery? After all, you did mention the yield.

Lastly, colin and christie may be the victims of editing, and if they are and if Christie was just as bad as colin, then does that actually make it better? They need therapy.

seeing old chipper so damn happy winning that million it was like seeing george foreman finally selling one of his damn chicken grills.Give it up for the rich brotha.
