Crossing paths with celebrities is fairly commonplace in Los Angeles, but every once in a while, I encounter a personality so compelling and powerful that I am moved to bust out my camera phone and take action. Such an event happened Wednesday afternoon. I was driving north on Highland Avenue, just past Hollywood Boulevard, when I had a red light brought me to a halt. As I anxiously waited at the intersection, I looked to my left at the Renaissance Hotel, only to find three scruffy looking dudes, two of whom had posters strapped to their bodies. The guys, it turned out, were a street team, selling CDs (I could tell because one of them had a box of CDs and another had a boombox. And oh yeah, their attached posters had a CD cover on them). Ah yes, just another ragtag Hollywood hopeful trying to peddle his music to the public in hopes of finding fame and fortune.

As the three guys began crossing the street in front of my car, I suddenly realized that this wasn't any ordinary street team. No, this was a posse. A posse for a certain musical superstar who was about to pass right in front of my very car! Yes, it was American Idol reject Corey Clark and his two cohorts. A down-on-their luck crew just trying to push their wares on us.

Well, it was as if some mighty blogger instinct kicked in. I reached into my pocket and whipped out my cell phone. Must... turn... on... camera... function. Thankfully, Corey and his crew were abnormally slow cross-walk crossers, which gave me just enough time to ready my camera phone. With nary a moment to spare, I snapped the photo, but sadly, Corey's face was turned away. Nevertheless, you can still clearly see his fro-tail and the distinct hunched-over stature of his profile. Poor Corey: reduced to trolling the streets to sell his album. Maybe Don Quiñones could profile this epic fall from not-grace.
