Diddy Can Dish It, But NBC Can't Take It -
by B-side
It seemed so wonderful. It seemed like the perfect fit. And yet, it completely sucked. I'm talking about Celebrity Cooking Showdown, NBC's culinary competition that has been welcomed by viewers like a deflated soufflé at Le Bernadin. I was so excited for this Diddy-produced series, especially when the then-colorful cast was revealed (originally, Ja Rule, Naomi Campbell, and Sandra Lee were to participate. They were replaced by Cindy Margolis, Patti LaBelle, and empty space). But then I caught the first episode of this ratings bomb, and it was clear this project had not been thought through. Viewers couldn't judge how the food tasted, the dishes weren't particularly fascinating, and truth be told, Alan Thicke's play-by-play was horrendous (if you ask me, that's what turned off most of the viewers). Well, today, the inevitable happened. NBC cancelled this half-baked series, banishing the remaining two episodes to the Internet. Sorry, Diddy. It was a good idea. Next time, don't rush it out the gate. And for the love of all things flambéed, don't leave the fate of your show in Alan Thicke's hands!

LoL. NBC cancelled the show... when there were only 2 episodes left... and they were going to air tonight & tomorrow night and it would have been 'it'... just over...? Who is in charge at NBC? Idiots. It's not like they have any good show to replace this disaster with either way. New episodes of Joey? Oh... no, I think that got cancelled too. I know... Deal or No Deal! Sad when so many of your network's shows now depend on Howie Mandel's game show ratings.

I'm so glad they cancelled this show. Cindy Margolis and her boobies were a grease splatter accident just waiting to happen. At least this way we're spared the wittnessing.

I was completely bummed out by this show. Lie you b-side, I was looking forward to this show. But damn, I couldn't watch a full episode. It was truly annoying, the crowd, and Alan.

It's funny to say that a limited, one-week only show was "cancelled." I mean, how bad do you have to be to get cancelled when your run was all of 5 episodes to begin with?

KROQ's Kevin & Bean have been dissing this show every morning this week, playing clips of Alan Thicke's stupid commentary and the audience's ridiculously loud and constant applause. They hated it so much (but had to keep talking about it daily, i dunno why) that they assigned different people from their radio talk show to watch it every night.

How did P.Diddy get famous anyway? Wasn't he a drug dealer to the celebs? That was a rumour years ago, before he starting boinking that fat assed skank J-Whore.

I watched the final 2 episodes last night. Anyone want to know who "won"? It was Cindy Margolis. Too funny huh? The real chefs did an exhibtion cookoff in the last episode though, and the food looked REALLY godd!
