Clipgasm: The Camera Don't Lie Edition - TVgasm

I don't think I am speaking in hyperbole when I say that America lost one of its favorites this week. What can you say about a person like that? After a long run on FOX, this up-and-coming star was taken away from us too soon. They say it was America's choice, but I think it was fixed and the producers could have picked somebody else who was much more deserving to go. If there is one thing we can do, it is to make sure that this person is never forgotten. Your end-of-the-week Clipgasm will help you put them in your hearts forever. Much thanks to B-Side for the many hours he put into bringing together all of these great moments for a final tribute. Enjoy.

I don't even watch the OC and I thought this was the best Clipgasm ever. You are a genius.

I thought the British School Girl/Hooker/Prostitute was her best performance of the season. Talent like that will be sorely missed. :( But at least, she'll always have Johnny!!! Oh, Johnny!

Wow!! I almost shed a tear. Not for Marissa but that was great work :) Adding her 'pool furniture throwing' scream to when the car flipped... LoL, awesome! Josh Schwartz should have thought of doing that last night.

I'm whicha' Bauer's Sweetheart. I don't watch the O.C. either, but I thought that clipgasm was hilarious.

Rofl.. that was hilarious

Wow. The part where the music comes on strong with the word "day", and the car hits the ground at the same time? Perfect.

words cannot describe the sheer genius behind this posting...

Maybe I missed something here, but didn't B-Side say that the official rule about not posting spoilers was to wait until the recap was up or discuss it in the forums? So Marissa dies, huh?

Mmm, hypocrisy.

Man, I really have *not* been paying attention to American Idol this season... if only there were some way to turn back time, and get Ryan Seacrest into that car...

that was honestly the funniest thing i've ever seen in my life. the poolside scream over the car flipping was a personal morbid favorite of mine

sheer genius - Thurs nite's finale was a shocker - not for Miss B's biting it - but
for those forced heart string tugs that we
faithful fans endured! Loved those four crazy kids together! Though her passing didn't make me cry like Eliott's Idol homecoming. Back to the pharmacy/uticals for EY!

forshame,

As the editors, we decide which rules we can break and which ones we follow. Quite honestly, the comedic value of the bait and switch with Mischa Barton far outweighs the damage the five people who watch The OC and might have been spoiled by this post would have caused. It was a judgment call, and I think we made the correct one.

God, I hate that song.

Is it wrong that I burst out laughing when Marissa was screaming in the toppling car?

That was so freakin' awesome. ElectraGlide (#6), I was floored by that timing, too. *Paula-style: Seal Clap Jutsu*

i think you've outdone yourselves, that's right up there with the giada disaster and scott and jase: the love below as the funniest posts ever. thanks!!!

I hope not tikilights because I did the same thing.

I thought the rule was once it's broadcast on teh west coast it's fair game? How are we supposed to wait till a recap is done to comment on stuff? Sometimes that takes a while.

I agree J-Unit, correct call. I have NEVER watched this show and I knew she was dead because it was in the news. If something is Philarious, you have to go for it.

J-Unit, definitely the funniest clipgasm since "Riding the Bus with My Sister." Extremely well done!

I guess dying does qualify you for having a bad day.

Death of Marissa("Bad Day" + American Idol) = Genius

I really didn't know what to expect when I clicked on that video screen (mostly thanks to J Unit's somber post), but it was not that. Thank you.

This is one of the most distasteful things I've ever seen. A beautiful teenage girl died on a show, upsetting thousands if not millions of young people. This was a traumatic event beautifully and realistically brought to life by this tv show. And you mock it. You make fun of it? Has no one you know died in an accident? for the thousands of grieving fans who's lives were touched by this shocking heartbreaking episode - you people should be ashamed of yourselves.

honeymcgee, you're joking, right?

Homeymcgee:

That was the funniest comment of the year. Please tell me you were joking. "grieving fans who's lives were touched by this shocking episode"? C'mon. No one was touched. It was a shameless ploy for ratings. If anything, people who've had loved ones die in an accident should be furious that one was used in such a desperate attempt to revitalize buzz on this show.

"This was a traumatic event beautifully and realistically brought to life"

Huh? What was beautiful about it? The use of sentimental slow motion photography? And in terms or realism -- I think the lack of blood or gore kind of underminded that. Not to mention EVERY OTHER PART OF THE SCENE. Yes, when I pull people out of a car that's threatening to explode, I often hold them in my arms and slowly walk away mournfully (instead of fleeing for safety and getting help).

Honeymcgee, getting emotional watching "The OC" is like getting emotional reading Goofus and Galant, with the caveat that I actually wonder what Goofus is going to get himself into next, that rebellious whippersnapper.

Great video, guys.

"A beautiful teenage girl died on a show, upsetting thousands if not millions of young people." Honey typed furiously. There was no way - NO WAY - those fools at TVGasm would sully her feelings over Marissa Cooper's death. They certainly couldn't stop her from writing her slashfic about Ryan's grief over Marissa's death transfering into a sweaty love-grapple with Seth. She smiled. Dan Brown had his Da Vinci Code, Danielle Steele had her Going Home, and Honey Mcgee would have her Love and [Man]sex in the O.C.

Sorry, sorry. Endure my crappy fiction skills. I apologize if I offend anyone.

This was genius!

Poor Marissa... I got all choked up. I think it would've been more fitting for her to be killed by the pool furniture though. You know, like as a revenge thing.

Though I haven't watched The OC before, I can understand people getting into a show perhaps too much (I got quite teary when Joyce Summers died on Buffy:TVS), but, really, it's not like it was making fun of an ACTUAL event with the death of a REAL LIVE person, right?

I think this ties with the Chenbot's "But First" montage for most excellent TVgasm moment.

Hahaha. Nice editing there!

Bloody brilliant!

msado:

Don't quit your day job...unless, of course, your day job is writing. Then, by all means, quit.

B-side: While I'm sure you've pulled many bodies out of cars -- I think if you were banged up and in shock and carrying another body you would not be moving too quickly.

As for your reaction in the land of snarksville here - you should go talk to high school girls who are deeply upset. visit message boards like fanbolt.

there is a world outside of tv gasm. where people have feelings.

next thing you'll tell me, no one wants to recap desperate housewives.

homeymcgee
ok, seriously.... you're coming off as a wee bit insane here. IT'S A TV SHOW, IT'S NOT REAL.

if there are teenage girls out there who are truly upset about this, perhaps you should point them towards this very clipgasm, so that they get some perspective on life.

comparing this to a real life accident is not only absurd, it's very disrespectful to those who have actually lost loved ones. do not think for a minute that the writers and producers of this show intended for it to be anything other than ENTERTAINMENT when they shot this. it's not an homage or tribute to the car accident fatalities in the world. it a frigging SOAP OPERA.

dude... totally kidding. its the OC page. jeesh. i thought the housewives comment would've given me away. that clip is fucking HILARIOUS!!!!! I love the OC. I will not miss Marissa. I think Season 4 could be awesome.

Irony.

Hilarious. Excellent work as usual boys.

it's the crying paula abdul at the end that really sells it.

as an editor by trade, i must applaud you j-unit. well done sir.

Never watched any teen soap operas but this clip was just hilarious! I loved the screaming while the car is rolling over the hill. This clip is sad but entertaining.

Homeymcgee: There will soon be a toll-free number for delusional but grieving fans like you. GET A LIFE!

homeymcgee- i kenw you were kidding (for what it's worth).

i dont even watch this show and this clipgams killed me. great job dudes.

yo J

just watched it again. i especially like the flipped shot of mischa in the corner to make it look like she was watching her own recap....

i love it when you re-watch things and catch other little details.

This clip was all B-side folks. I wrote the intro just to throw people off the scent a little bit more. Glad everybody liked it though.

I've been a huge fan of this blog for a long time, but I never bothered to sign up to leave comments. However, that Clipgasm was too much to take. It had me laughing deliriously, at work. Now my bosses really think I have social problems! Thanks, TVGasm!

that was hilarious. i don't watch american idol or the oc, but clicked on the clipgasm because they always make me laugh...glad i did!! brightened up my monday.
