Dancing With The Stars Cowboys Up -
by B-side

So I sat down this evening to watch last night's Tivo'd episode of Dancing with the Stars -- the penultimate episode, mind you -- and what do I find? Nothing. Nada. Between Survivor and American Idol clogging up the eight o'clock hour, Tivo was left with no chance but to cruelly deny Dancing from the über-exclusive club that is the TVgasm Thursday night lineup. And so I come to you with nothing. Sort of.
Luckily, I did catch some highlights of the show. There was Jerry Rice, who finally whipped up some strong scores with his afro'd freestyle dance and elegant fox trot. There was Stacy Keibler who revisited her sexy jive but then faltered with a lame-o disco. But all everyone's been talking about has been Drew Lachey. Drew, Drew, Drew. Endearing himself to Village People enthusiasts around the nation, Drew popped up on stage in a sleeveless cowboy gettup and proceeded to flip, dip, twirl, and essentially fling his lusty partner Cheryl all around the dance floor. I was lucky enough to see this performance in its entirety last night at work, and despite how silly it should have been, I had to admit, it was pretty awesome. And hey, it even came with its own built-in Brokeback Mountain joke, courtesy of Bruno: "Drew, you are ready for the lead in Brokeback Mountain: The Musical!" And with that, Drew quickly grabbed Cheryl's cowboy hat and placed it over his ass. Yes, America. Sodomy humor has finally come to Dancing with the Stars. Personally, I was trying to stay away from the Brokeback/Drew Lachey jokes because according to Best Week Ever and just a general sense of pop culture, Brokeback Mountain jokes are so over. It's too bad because I never really got a chance to make my funny Brokeback parody:

Brokeback Moulton
FYI -- Drew earned two perfect scores for a grand total of 60 out of 60. Looks like the momentum's heading his way. But then again, you can't discount Jerry Rice's popularity. Who do you think will win on Sunday?

Make sure things are all good for Tuesday...I'm already excited for the first TAR recap.
Drew totally has to win. I call shenanigans if he doesn't. I tried calling in for him and only got through twice out of I don't know how many attempts.
I was shocked that both Stacy/Tony and Jerry/Anna danced disco numbers. I would think they would want to be different. Neither looked very inspired. And neither looked like they were having very fun.

You missed Len Goodman's best pun yet after the big-Afro number:
"Jerry Rice? More like Geri-Curl!!"
Actually he didn't say that, but it would have been great if he did...

I heard on the original british show they had some christmas special where it was the top 2 of season 1 and top 2 of season 2 pit against each other. That actually would be great IF they can make sure Jerry Rice isnt in it.
Jerry Rice is a legend but i'd rather see lisa rinna in a dance competition.

You know whats crazy. I just double checked and they cut that part of Drew covering his butt on the west coast feed. Instead they cut from him grabbing the hat to Mrs Rice, Mrs Lachey and the Judges cracking up and Tom saying "oh no" in the background.
Way to ruin "reality live tv" guys.

I was lucky to get at least 10 votes in for Drew using 2 of my 3 phone numbers (2 cells and 1 land line). I also was able to use my 4 e-mail accounts and my sister's 3 e-mail accounts to vote. I really wish they would allow text message votes as on American Idol as I was able to vote for my favorite on American Idol last season using text messaging when my phone calls wouldn't get through.
Drew and Cheryl have been my favorites all along and I hope they whoop a** and win this thing.
They only thing that may keep them from winning if is Drew's wife goes into labor and he can't be there for the final dance.

I loved Drew's performance and it will be a crime if he doesn't win! Stacey was boring and Jerry was his usual slow self walking around the dance floor while his partner danced circles around him.
GO DREW!!!!!

Don't worry, Drew, no respectable gay man would be interested in your little boyband hole. The ladies can keep all 5'2" of you.

Throughout this whole competition I've actually loved Drew and Stacy equally. They both have impressed me week after week and I've said that I'd ba happy if either of them were to win the whole thing. Having said that, Stacy's "free style" dance on Thursday was MORE than a disappointment. I still can't believe how boring it was - especially considering this was the time of all times to shine. Jerry's dance was FAR more appealing than Stacy's. But Drew, well Drew's was just all out FUN!!! I haven't deleted that episode from my Tivo yet as I want to watch it again. It was SO fun and had SO many great moves. That dance alone should allow them the win (although I'm still okay w/either him or Stacy winning).

It was reported that Drew's Brokeback butt coverup was edited out of the west coast broadcast.
