Recap: Desperate Housewives: Aunt Jackie on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown -
by Umnata
Carolyn is ready to shoot Lynette when Art chucks a can at her head, causing the gun to go off
and shoot Lynette in the arm, instead of the face. Austin decides to also play hero, as he tries to keep a stunned Carolyn away from her gun, but is overpowered by the 125 pound Forty year old. I know someone is going to leave a comment about the adrenaline of a crazy person, blah blah blah - it's still highly unlikely that Austin couldn't take Carolyn in a fight. Luckily he doesn't have to, as there is another shot and this time, Carolyn is on the receiving end of it, as one of hostages turn against her and shoots her in the head. I assumed, at first that it was Julie, and then thought probably Edie. But no, it was random lady whose son was in Carolyn's religion class. Nice touch.
Outside the Market, the hostages are being released, with Julie and Susan reuniting. Julie then sees Austin and gives him a big hug, which is a cause for concern for Susan. Finally, Lynette gets wheeled out and all is right in the world. Bree is especially relieved.
That night Lynette again has the Mary Alice dream, but this time instead of ignoring her friend's pain, she goes over to talk to Mary Alice. Lynette wants to save Mary Alice, but she can't: "We can't prevent what we can't predict," Mary Alice says. It's an ominous piece of sage advice that Mary Alice sends her friend off with to clear her conscience.
So alright, alright, just admit it... how many of you are glad to be rid of The Babe?

"black comedy just flows effortlessly from her lips, like urine from her penis."
That made me laugh out loud. Great recap.

I knew The Babe was going to die, when I saw her enter the store-she was the only one who was expendable. I hope these last few episodes mean the show is back on track.

I hated the Babe too and am glad she's gone. But I love Laurie Metcalfe and am sorry they had to kill her off for good. And seeing her with her former Roseanne co-stars (and real life hubby) was great.

That was an awesome recap, Umnata! "Black comedy just flows effortlessly from her lips, like urine from her penis." had me laughing out loud at work too!
This is the first episode I have watched attentively in a loooong time and it was great! Sweeps time has been so good to me this year.

Awesome recap, pretty good episode...
I hated The Babe all season long and somehow she made me feel sorry for her as she was dying.
And Laurie Metcalf needs an Emmy. She's so underrated.
I agree with eveyone else... Edie's penis. HA. Best line ever Umnata!

I almost felt sorry for the (not) Babe, but she was such a shit we'll be better off without her. I kinda wish Gabby had been in the store, too.
Agreed: Good episode. Drama, dark humor and more of Edie. I like her, but I have to admit Umnata's comment about her "penis" made me guffaw as well. I don't know, I still think she's kinda sexy, in a slutty, older gal kind of way.
Any episode without Mike Delfino's bound to be a good one. Don't know how, but we have to kill him off, too.

This was such a great episode. I hope they keep up the good work.
As a HUGE Roseanne fan I have been so excited to see so many of the cast show up on DH. I thought I was the only one that noticed. I also didn't know Aunt Jackie and Fisher were married in real life.

I've been watching DH on and off BUT THIS EPISODE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Laurie should defintly get an Emmy for herguest star role!!

Great Recap!
Luv Laurie M. and she DOES deserve an emmy for that appearance!
I totally got a kick out of Julie's lil speech! As a Single Mom of 21 years (I finally got hitched this year!) My girl & I too have a "Gilmore-esque" relationship and I totally understand Julie's point of view....Great JOB!

Why couldn't they shoot Eva Longoria instead? I only tuned into this dreck, because a talented actress, Laurie Metcalf, was on. She should of been made a regular, and that no talent HO should of been shot. She's the J-Lo of TV!

This was the 1st episode of this season that i've actually watched & i'm really glad i did, great episode. Embarrassed to admit this but i had to choke back tears during the last 10 mins. or so (thank you, PMS) -- even the annoying Babe's bit at the end made me verklempt! Thank gawd Mary Alice piped up at the end w/her usual narration & dream sequence so I was able to laugh a little at how much taller M.A. is than Lynette, she looked like a giant.
I liked that Ian came back to be w/ Susan & I thot the part w/wacky Susan on the bullhorn was pretty funny. Even Edie ddn't seem so despicable in ths episode, I liked her flicking the nephew on the head. Laurie M & Lynette were really gd in ths one.

"Sometimes I really like Edie, because whatever I say about Nicolette Sheridan and her questionable gender, black comedy just flows effortlessly from her lips, like urine from her penis."
I am laughing so hard at that and it's like 1:45 am and my bf is sleeping in the next room. We got into a fight tonight (I was in the wrong) and he went to bed mad. I think I woke him up with my laughing. Thanks, Umnata!
Did anyone else think it was rude that Lynette never dreamed of Mary Alice again. She was her friend. She should still dream about her. I still have dreams about Pappy and he died when I was in the 1st grade. The night he died, I looked out the window and saw a plane in the sky and thought it was taking him to heaven.
PS: What does "Babe" mean?
