Come On Down! (to the retirement community) -
by B-side
Sad news in the world of game shows. After a meager fifty years on the air, Bob Barker has decided to retire at the ripe old age of 83. I don't know what this means for the future of The Price Is Right. Losing Rod Roddy was a tough blow, but Bob too? Say it ain't so. Hopefully CBS will pass the baton to someone equally kitschy like Wink Martindale or Bob Eubanks. If Billy Bush or Danny Bonnaduce are tapped to be his replacement, I think we'll have no other option than to declare a nation-wide boycott. Unfortunately, trying to predict the behavior of network execs is like trying to crack the code to Plinko: it just won't happen. Either way, I think it's fairly apparent that whoever lands the gig will be earning exactly one dollar more than the runner-up.

I'm the saddest girl in the world! One of the things that I love most about being able to work from home is that I get to watch TPIR everyday. Hack or no it just won't be the same without Bob.

I was on Price Is Right a couple years ago and Bob was showing his age... it was kinda sad seeing him like that. They should totally sell Pinko boards, they'd make a bundle with those.

I agree Double L, they should totally sell Pinko boards. That way we could see who among us is a Communist sympathizer. It would make my life a lot easier. ;)
Along that line- I so want to get my hands on the Wheel! Of! FORTUNE!!! I'd figure out some way to install that sucker in my living room.

Clearly, my life goal plans of playing Plinko must now be accelerated.
I understand that TPIR is a big money maker for CBS, but I don't think it should be on the air without Bob Barker as the host. It was hard enough for me to get used to someone other than Rod Roddy as the announcer. Bob is the show and as such they should toss in the towel while they can.
I suggest a nationwide sickout on Bob's final episode!!

CBS needs to seriously consider cancelling this show in lieu of replacing Bob; He IS this show!

Now what am I going to do everyday at 11:00? Thanks for all the fun, Bob. Enjoy your retirement. You deserve it.
Just PLEEEEEEASE don't make the new host Ricki Lake!
And, Hey LQ! Long time, no read. Where ya been?!?

Oh Lizardqueen, I have missed your biting wit.
Loved the Drinko board, Ms. Tumnus. That's a game I would buy.
I agree with everyone else, there isn't anyone who can host this show besides Bob. This is sad news.
I'm curious about one thing though: which one of the guys posted this? Isn't it weird how the only posts with a name now are Tabloid Baby's?

As evidenced when Ricki Lake tried to host The Price is Right on Gameshow Marathon, no one can fill Bob's shoes on TV. NO ONE.
Ms. Tumnus - thank you for that, I'm very familiar. Actually, I thought this would make me a huge nerd for reporting this, but we did the Price is Right as a charity fundraiser at my university and I got to play Bob Barker. We made a Plinko board out of peg board and wooden miniature dowels. Then after the program was over, we played drinking games with it.
So if anyone out there is industrious, the Home Depot has everything you would need!!
