Well, you did one thing right, my dear friend: the glorious and poorly rated Veronica Mars (watch next season or face my wrath) will return at 9 PM on Tuesdays with a new structure that will have mysteries being solved in three seven-to-nine-episode arcs to keep the show more accessible to viewers. I don’t really care how they change the show after that amazing season finale (best hour of television this season), I couldn’t imagine anything that would stop me from coming back for more. Kicking the night off at 8 PM will be the WB staple Gilmore Girls, which is losing its creator and head writers, the eccentric (read: crazy) Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Dan Palladino. The two of them are pretty much wholly responsible for all of the pop-culture soaked, machine gun fire dialogue that give the show its punch. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with them two of them off on “other projects” (read: unemployed) because they couldn’t come to a satisfying deal (read: greedy) with Warner Brothers.

Wednesday:

Thanks in no small part to E! Online’s Save One Show campaign, the crap-tastic show One Tree Hill is coming back at 9 PM, which means that Chad Michael Murray will be able to find wives # 3 & 4 without a problem. Again, how is this show coming back? That show will be paired up with America’s Next Top Model (in the fall) and Beauty and the Geek (in the Spring) on Wednesday nights, two of my favorite reality shows on television -- because they are all about pretty people. And I like pretty people.

Thursday:

The new ad campaign is going to be: “Demographic Wet Dream” Thursdays on the CW! Sticking around at 8:00 pm is Smallville, after holding its own in the tough time slot this season. Funny sidenote: the creators said that they had always intended on having the Clark-Lana-Lex love triangle but had to wait until the 5th season so all parties were legally of age. This week on Smallville: Clark and Chloe have to fight the town’s newest foe: Statutory Man! At 9 PM, hopefully Supernatural will live up to some of the early promise it showed (and its kick ass season finale). Also, Denny-aholics will likely see our favorite Seattle Grace Heart Patient in at least a few episodes (if not as a series regular). He plays Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padilecki)’s ghostbusting dad. Either way, fanboys and teenage girls are already drooling. It should also be noted that the Aquaman spin-off that was buzzed about ever since the Smallville episode where Arthur Curry showed up, is missing from the CW’s schedule.

Friday:

WWE Smackdown. All night. I don’t think there is much more to say.

Anything you’re looking forward to next season on the CW? Runaway does look promising, but thriller overload anyone? I think Veronica Mars and Smallville both ended their seasons on high notes (YAY BEAVER AND PHANTHOM ZONE!), and I’m definitely interested in what major changes lie in store for Gilmore Girls. What do you think?

i like the hill.. :(

Wait, you didn't elaborate on The Loop! I like that show! It's cute and the guy from Grounded for Life is cute. I guess I will just have to settle for your aside--
"(yay! Veronca Mars and The Loop)"

james_woods

sorry for the confution! this is the recap of the CW's schedule only. the first paragraph was the intro to the upfronts in general. we'll be posting FOX (where the loop is explained further), CBS, NBC, & ABCs new schedules over the next few days.

I am SO MAD. How could 7th Heaven survive, and EVerwood not?!?!!? ARe you kidding me?!?!

How on earth is Denny supposed to be old enough to be the father of those two pretty boys?

WHO is actually watching One Tree Hill (besides, you pupkick) and why? It seems only a matter of time until Chad Michael Murray gets arrested for something really embarassing...

As long as I get my Veronica Mars and Smallville, I'm happy.

SO sad about Everwood. I can't believe the TV show with the worst actors EVER (seriously, I would think they could've picked up at least a bit of acting skills in the 7647382 effing seasons they were on) is coming back and the show with some of the best acting and storylines on TV now is being canceled. Damn you Dawn!

Yahoo Veronica Mars!! I'm really looking forward to the next season. I can't wait to get season 2 on dvd.

so nick lachey's new show didn't make it? maybe there is a god.

Ooh! I'm very interested to see if Gilmore Girls will suck now that those writers won't be involved... Maybe the other writers will have gleaned something from them over the past several years.

I'm actually really pleased that 7th Heaven got picked up. Seriously, it is probably the worst show on TV next to Passions (which I also have on my season pass list) but it's so great. I mean it entertains every single week and I mean that in a "what the hell is wrong with the writers of this show and why is Lucy slightly crosseyed" sort of way.

I will, however, mourn for Everwood. Seriously, they just leave us hanging with people in the hospital and people having heart attacks? It's not o.k...

DAMN!! i loved related and now i find out that they're not even going to give it a shot, bastards! and i think everwood was a great show, i guess just one of those greats that no one's watching. I watch OTH by the way, and i still like it. I'm really just sort of hooked cause i've been watching since day 1 and feel a random connection to these highschoolers.

for everwood fans -

im sure most of you know this already, but exec. producer rina mimoun, prepared for the possibility that everwood would be cancelled, and shot two finales, one a cliffhanger (involving the return of madison) if the show were to go on to a fifth season and an ending that would effectively close the series. unfortunately, the SERIES finale ending was used and will be shown on June 6th, when everwood wraps up forever (tear). Also, it was just reported the other day that rina mimoun, has been picked up by gilmore girls as a consultant for the upcoming season (likely gilmore's last), which i think can only be a good thing.

that actually makes me feel kind of better. you know, a show is never good nce all the stuff is resolved, so its like, yo kidn of would rather see a story end on a true "we're ending it" not. maybe doc brown will get his love after all. and ephram and Amy. that would be fantastic.
(though I kind of want Hannah to end up with that austrialian guy. this would let Bright go get some. everyone's happy).

I'm really upset Everwood is gone after this season. I've watched this show from the start and grew attached to these characters. The only consolation is it'll have closure after the finale. They could have scheduled it for a Sunday timeslot in place of the rerun of America's Next Top Model but I guess it's cheaper for the network to do that and let a very well made and critically-acclaimed show like Everwood to just go away. Sad!

One Tree Hill is better than Everwood obviously, or it would have been cancelled :)
