Newsgasm: Bravo books hotel docu-soap -
by Tabloid Baby
Bravo has a thing for working stiffs-- as long as they're good-looking and have glamourous jobs. So in the spirit of its docu-soaps set in a hair salon, fitness club and tabloid newsroom, next stop is a swank Palm Springs hotel.
Welcome To the Parker will take us behind the scenes of the luxurious but hip desert resort, The Parker Palm Springs Hotel, following the lives, relationships, and editor-enhanced drama among the staff. We'd figure the moneyed clientele might not appreciate the intrusion of cameras, but The Parker is a camp, hipster Hollywood hideaway designed by the Bravo-ready "mod couple" Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler (just listen), so all involved should be ready for their close-ups. An added twist:
The Parker website advertises that Guests under 30 (ID required) can stay in our staff quarters at embarrassingly low rates...
Production begins this month. The series will air in '07. Bravo says the one-hour Welcome episodes will show "the work that goes into keeping the Parker's sterling reputation intact." And tantrums.
Personally, we'd have chosen a different Palm Springs hotel for the series. The Desert Shadows Inn is just down the road. It's also luxurious-- and nudist. But that's just us.
