We know that the spaceship is at Luthorcorp, although we have no idea what is happening to it. Luthorcorp is known for its willingness to do just about any experiment on just about any subject, which brings us back to Lee and his atomic friends. He starts making demands of Clark, who soon realizes that it is not always easy to protect the ones you love when you aren't the strongest in the room anymore. Lee wants Clark, but not to kill him for putting him away. Rather, he needs Clark to go on a little errand for him and get something that he needs desperately.

Luthorcorp has done many experiments using Kryptonite, with many human subjects. Before Boone Carlisle was doing his shit on that island, he was a human guinea pig of Luthorcorp. Lee and the two brothers are also guinea pigs. The Kryptonite serum they were given in captivity enhanced their powers, and it made them addicted. They were going through serious withdrawal and needed to find a way to get the serum, and they wanted Clark to help. If the stories about him were true, he would be the only person who could break into a lab that is not supposed to exist and bring it back - and do it all within two hours.

The task would have been difficult as it was, but the Kents finally did come home to check on those nails. Jonathan and Martha are upset, but they notice that Clark's shirt is inside out, which puts a smile on Jonathan's face. That's my boy! Us Kent men may be poor, but we know how to give it to the ladies when the time comes. Lee had been hiding, but decided it might be better to simply take another set of hostages. He sends Clark on his way and tells him everybody he loves will die if they don't get the serum.

Clark can't do much on his own, but that doesn't mean he is helpless. With Chloe at his side, he is able to find the secret lab, but there is the whole problem with getting inside, finding the serum and getting it back. Luckily, Chloe has an entire platoon's worth of gear in the trunk of her car. And all this time I thought she was only equipped with some perky boobs, a quick wit, and a palm pilot. But no, she has all types of gadgetry, which luckily includes all of the things necessary to interface with Luthorcorp security and turn off power to the building. Using a myriad of conventional techniques like bypassing security and crawling through ventilation shafts, Chloe and Clark finally reach the part of the lab where the serum is located. The only problem is that the vault holding the serum is on a separate power grid and the security measures around it are still in place, and they include lasers that would vaporize your arm to the touch. Obviously, they will have to use Plan B.

Lee is getting a little impatient with all of his hostages, and that anxiety grows when he sees the sheriff pull up in her squad car. Jonathan says that he will get rid of her, but she is on the lookout for criminals and is suspicious of the way Jonathan is acting. She knows they are lying to her when she finds a pack of smokes and Lana tries to convince her that she has been smoking for a long time. The sheriff leaves, but she is still a little curious as to why the Kents were trying to get rid of her so quickly. Let's be honest, nobody wants to stick around the sheriff because with all of the Kryptonite around, there is a chance her stupidity could mutate into an airborne virus that would create a pandemic like one we will never see again, or at least until the bird flu finally decides to kill some more people.

The sheriff calls for reinforcements, who can't do anything to help the Kents and Lana because of the magic force field and whatnot. Jonathan, Martha and Lana did try and help out their situation a little bit by distracting their captors. Lana, who showed us earlier she was handy with a staple gun, this time got the nail gun out and managed to fire a direct shot into the hands of one of the force field boys. Since they had to lock their hands together to make the force field, it would have given everybody else a chance to escape. Unfortunately, they were able to remove the little thorn and start the force field back up.

Since the police force couldn't do anything, it was up to Clark and whatever plan he had to get the job done. When they had found the vault with the serum, he had just finished speaking with Lee and told him that he would be back in no time with what he needed. Clark arrives on the scene and convinces the sheriff to let him in, and that he has a plan that works. Although the sheriff never would have let Clark meddle in seasons past, she decides to let him go ahead and try to do what he needs to do.
