I am not sure how Lionel got back from the fortress of solitude, but it appears that he doesn't remember a thing. Lex doesn't believe anything that he says. How did he know Lionel wasn't acting the whole time? Earlier his dad said that he would never be able to open the spaceship and "only he can open it." This is enough to make Lex even more wary of his dad. For Lex, the day has been crazy. Clark was shot and died, which meant that he was mortal, but came back from the dead which means something is going on. Lana comes to ask why Lex asked for Clark's paperwork at the hospital, and wonders if he was happy to see that all the tests were normal. This leads to the always present "leave us alone" talk from Lana, while Lex does his "what kind of lies is he telling you" routine. This would all be easier if Lex didn't have such a boner for Lana, but still, the resurrection from the dead, plus the disappearance, puts enough doubt in Lana's head to get her thinking.

Clark is in his loft, contemplating his situation, when Chloe joins the party. He doesn't know how to deal with the statement from Jor-el that his darkest hour is about to come, but he can't even deal with how this is going to change his relationship with Lana. Chloe, who doesn't want to speak with Clark about Lana, gives him some advice. Now she says that she is a big girl and the discussion doesn't need to happen, but you can tell she was so happy because she felt that she had a closeness to Clark that Lana didn't have. She tells Clark that he will never be able to hide so many things from Lana, and despite everything that has brought Clark and Lana closer, he is still worried that Lana wouldn't accept him, and he would rather have him reject her because he hid things from her than deal with the pain of being honest and still being rejected.

So we all knew that Clark was going to get his powers back, and I am dying to figure out who is going to die. (DON'T SEND ME SPOILERS) I am guessing Chloe because it would be a convenient way to get rid of her and transition Lois back in, and it is Lois that has the future, at least if we judge by the comics and the movies. We don't think it is going to be one of the Kents. Who knows, maybe it will be the dog?

What did you think of the episode? How long are Clark and Lana going to last? Who do you think is going to die? What is in the spaceship, and where is James Marsters?

I think either Chloe or Clarks Dad is going to die. Because in the comic doesn't his dad die? I wish Clark would get with Chloe, Lana is a wimp and way too boring.

Pa Kent is alive and well in the comics.

I hope it's not chloe but it might be her cuz everyone else
in all the comics and cartoons
are alive.Lana is a nice girl but she really is boring i'm just happy to know he eventually ends up with Lois. And dammit i wanna see JM too.

Actually J-Unit, I don’t think it’s such a great thing to wake up next to Lana. I mean, by then you’ve already had sex with her and now the only thing left is snuggling and talking. Chloe and Lois I can snuggle and talk to. Lana. Not so much.

How dumb did that guy feel after turning the key knowing that he shot both of them anyway? Moron. Granted, it takes more than just turning a key to launch a bomb. Even Jack Bauer can tell you, you need the football!

I hope its not Chloe that dies. I always liked her. She’s cute and slightly chubby. I find that endearing. Why don’t they bring back pete for one episode and then kill him.

Boring Pete should come back and die - great idea EdHill. I kept wondering if we were going to see JM too. Mama Kent was cracking me up with her "were you safe?" talk!

In the old school version: After Clark graduated from high school, Jonathan and Martha took a vacation to the Caribbean Islands, where they contracted a fatal and rare tropical disease after handling materials from a pirate's treasure chest they had exhumed; despite Superboy's best efforts, Martha passed away, with Jonathan dying soon thereafter. Before passing on, Jonathan reminded Clark that he must always use his powers for the benefit of humanity. After Jonathan's passing, Clark mourned his parents' loss, before eventually moving to Metropolis to attend college.
In the modern version, the Kents are alive.
So geeky of me I know.
I still think it will be Pa Kent who dies. I guess Chloe makes more sense, but I'm in denial because I like her character.

flymotha, your geekiness pales in comparison to me. BEHOLD!

You forget the problem of WHICH superman this is. Since Superman has been around so long, they have split it up into numerous different "earths" so the goofy superman from 1962 can coexist with the one from today, and so on and so on. For instance, all the comics where the marvel and DC characters coexisted are in whats called crossover- Earth. Earth-2 was the silver age superman from 1935 -1955, Earth-1 was the golden age superman from 1966-1985, etc…

This way the modern comic book superman never had a superboy or a superdog in his past.

But the TV show is clearly taking its cues from the films, with similar theme music, visual cues, general Zod, etc. SO it kind of takes place in its own universe. IT follows the general themes of superman, but can do whatever it likes. Which is why Luthor and clark are friends, he meets Lois in high school, etc.

Sweet lord Jesus I am a geek. Im gonna go turn ON ESPN and weep softly.

On which one of those other "earths" is Chloe considered "slightly chubby"?

Oh EdHill, don't spew that much comic book knowledge at one time to a woman... good info though :)

Another classic headline, J-Unit. Am I the only one disappointed that Clark got his powers back so quickly? And this death of a loved one? When does that happen? How long do we have to wait? Jor-El made it sound like it had to happen now so that Clark could live. How long does he get to live with this other person who has to die so he could live? God, I hope it's Lana. Then Clark and Chloe can finally be together!

That was so stupid that Clark and Lana woke up in his house when we last left them they were at her place, where she has no adult supervision by the way. So what, did they do it at her place and then decide they would go over to his house for some more action? Where they can and will be caught by his parents. And why were so many people up at 6:30 in the morning.

Did anyone ever win the Smallville season 4 DVDs? If it was me, you can tell me now.

Also did you notice that Clark was wearing something completeley different in the FoS? I guess Jor-el also had time to get him dressed. They tried to cram way too much into that hour countdown. At least they didn't travel from downtown L.A. to Van Nuys in 10 minutes.

Remember when Chloe started writing under Lois's name for the newspaper, because they wouldn't accept her work because of Lionel? I am hoping that was foreshadowing and that Chloe lives, and if she assumes Lois's identity, Clark will end up with her as he should be.

Victoria...According to the producers of Smallville, the "death of a loved one" will be on the show's 100th episode (the 12th episode of this season).

So I have to wait for the 12th episode of the season for Lana to die? I don't know if I can bear her until then!
