Lex, This Is Your Life - TVgasm

With her job done, Chloe drives to the Kents for their Christmas party. It was cold outside, but that didn't stop her from putting on a cute, shimmery Christmas halter. I've been an awful good boy, Chloe baby, hurry down my chimney tonight? Lana's got Clark, and I guess you have your job. Just don't die on us, you hear?

The only person who didn't seem happy on that day was Lex, even though Griff decided to make a house call to Lex's hospital room. He tells his friend that he wants to live happily ever after, and the only way to do that is to have power and money, so he can protect the people that matter most to him. The irony, of course, is the people that matter most are going to be pushed farther away with his decision. He tells Griff to find that information that will destroy Jonathan Kent, and to make it all up if he has to. Lex wants it all.

I really liked this episode, and not just because Lana died. It gives us an even better insight into some of the choices Lex made on his way to becoming evil, although it seemed like he could have been happy, and saved Lana, if he had only done a few things differently. You know, maybe he convinces his wife to have a cesarean. Maybe he just leaves Luthorcorp and doesn't give Chloe insider information. Maybe he doesn't win humanitarian of the year, but his father probably would have A) bought him an escalade and B) saved his wife from dying. One other thing wasn't clear. This whole time, Lionel has been working to prevent Lex from grabbing power, but in the alternate scenario, it made it seem as if Lionel was disappointed that Lex didn't run for office. In fact, I think part of the happiness that slipped out of Lionel when he heard his son was shot was knowing it will prevent him from getting elected. You just never know.

Although I still think Chloe is in the lead to get killed, I think that there is a good chance that Lana or Jonathan could get killed as well. Yes, yes, we knot what is going on in the comic books, but there are two many Superman universes out there and you can say that Smallville has been around long enough that it doesn't have to pander to comic book accuracy at this point, since it really is its own narrative. Chloe could still go, but at times it seems like it is too obvious. If Lana died, the irony would be that Lex chose his life of evil, but Lana still died, meaning he really should have listened to his mother. Besides, what better way to get Clark's mind on the idea of his greater role in life than taking away what has always been his biggest distraction? If Jonathan died, the significance would be that Jor-el, Clark's biological father, would be killing Clark's adoptive father. Jor-el has messed with Jonathan before, so you couldn't put it past him.

What did you think of this episode?

Great recap J-unit. Loved the Festivus reference...

I really liked this episode because they turned what could have been a hokey christmas special into a really nice dark tale with an insight into what drives Lex Luthor to become the man we all know he will be in the future...

You know they are going to off Chloe which sucks, I really don't see them killing off anyone else..Lets see, we got 2 "loved one" death scares already, Ma kent and Lana. You know they aren't going to kill of Lois. Who's left, Krypto?

Yay for a new Smallville recap! It is making my night at work go alot faster!

I really liked this episode alot. It was interesting to see the alternate Lex.

I really hope that irony prevails and Lana is the one who kicks the bucket. In my humble opinion, her character does nothing for the show and just distracts Clark.

I can't wait for this hiatus to end and we can have more new Smallville and new recaps!!

is there anything better than a smallville recap

i really liked lexmas
the dark christmas story behind it was great. and micheal did an outstanding job in this episode, it was really neat.

hope to see more

You missed the best foreshadowing of Lana's death: her line at the end about this being the first of many Christmases together for them. Except it will be their last together! Death to Lana!
This episode further solidified my opinion that Lex will somehow be the cause of Lana's death, and that will send him over the edge.
Clark and Chloe forever!

Great recap! I thought this was a really great episode, but, of course, I did find myself yelling at altera-Lex that if Daddy the dickhead wouldn't help Lana, why didn't he go to the newly-ultrasuave and powerful Jonathan Kent, who now loves him? He would have done something for Lana??? But, I guess that's why I don't write for TV.....

Awesome recap, as usual!

But I missed last Thursday's episode...was it the 2-hour movie that I missed? SAY IT ISN'T SO! :( I heard that it was the Smallville movie and now I'm so pissed.

If it was, does anyone know when it might be aired again?

I think the 2 hour movie is just last season's finale and this season's opener shown as one episode..

I wish know Michael Rosenbaum, because i love him so much... Michael talk to me in my e-mail: smithmatrix25@hotmail.com or Michaelrpsenbaum-Smallville@hotmail.com to knoe me and know you beror.
