While Jaiejeyems deserved to be booted based on his contempt for basic rules of spelling, he didn't deserve to go this week. Nigel keeps talking about how the judges look at how the dancers perform throughout the show and for 3 out of 4 of the competitive dances so far, Ivan has sucked. Nigel said that Ivan's solo saved him, but I've got a feeling his popularity and ability to spell had more influence in his continuation on the show.

Jaymz absolutely deserved to go this week. His backtalk alone! If that didn't do it for ya, his falling off the stage should. It's not about the solos. If it were, Heidi would have been toast.

Another thing that bugged me which I didn't see in the review: Allison was smiling huge the whole time during her solo. Cheezing it during a sad, slow song always ruins a dance.

And that lousy backstage meetin' place where the judges consort is just plain funny. Is this their way of seeking a "judge's booth" sponsor for next year? That must be why they always carry their little green plastic cups with them when they leave their judge chairs. If enough people notice they carry those stupid cups every time they stand up, perhaps someone will want to slap their logo across 'em, a la American Idol's huge red Coke cups.

I have one complaint about the dancing show recap...how could you overlook the ridiculous lift that Natalie and Musa did at the end of their disco routine?!?! The only way I can describe it is Natalie doing a split over Musa's head while he spun her around. Damn girl, I know you guys are "sexy" and "hot" but do we really need to see your loady parts?

Honestly? Mary scares me sometimes. Her loud, shrill voice and her inability to cover her teeth just freaks me out. I don't mind what she says(except of course when she tries to be 'with it'), but she just needs to bring it down a notch. Maybe quit chasing her vodka with ecstacy.

Neyo is pretty well known, I guess. He sang that one R&B song "So Sick" and I guess his new single is the one he sang the other night. He's up there with the other mediocre singers.

Another good recap, Amanda. I'm also glad that JAMES "JAYMZ" TUAILEVA is off the show so I don't have to read his name again. You're making this show sound so fun that I may actually watch an episode.
I'm willing to admit I also didn't know who Ne-Yo is so I googled him. He's a singer/songwriter who started with Def Jam. His debut album isn't out yet so that's probably why he's not that well known. I'm betting he's on the show because of "nepotism": whatever label he's signed to has a connection to the show.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that during the opening number the girls all had what looked to be the early on-set of fringed out jeans.

I felt bad for Jessica - she was crying the whole tail end of that show - and the video package did show her to have personality - which contradicted everything they cut her for.

I'm just glad Ashlee is still in it - she's my favorite girl and I love that she is paired with Dmitry.

Whoda thunk they'd be able to find a Paula Abdul look alike that is just as never-sober as Paula?! Way to go Mary!

Jaymz seemed so stupid, I'm surprised he remembers to breathe. Did you catch the clip where he kicked himself in the head?

I also had no idea who Ne-Yo was. And I didn't get Allison's solo. I thought for sure that the judges would say something about the way she danced way faster than the music. When they didn't, I thought I must be nuts.

I was way too excited that Dmitry and his partner got to stay. Not because I like her (I don't), but because, like Jaymz, I seem to have developed some sort of obsession with him. I'm going to start referring to him as just "Dmitry Chaplin and Partner" like when Baby and Johnny dance at the Shelldrake in Dirty Dancing.

Great recap Amanda! I especially love how you critique Cat's outfits every show. Comparing Mary to the opposite of a ventriloquist was too funny.

Ivan's solo was awesome. He'll be hard to beat with those solos.

Actually - Mary's teeth remind me of Wallace and Gromit and all those Englishy claymation people.

Cat's hair was the stiffest herringbone braid I've ever seen in my life. She could put an eye out with that thing. I want to slap Mary. I'd rather have Paula's Vicodin rants than Mary Murphy's "Kitty Foreman" Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha laugh. I also, alas, am named Mary. I want to punch her.

ne-yo is a relatively new r&b singer. he's been in the industry for awhile as a songwriter tho. he's most known as the writer for usher and rhianna, who i guess was also on this show? maybe there's some connection between their label and fox. anyway, i like ne-yo, or at least the 2 songs i've heard on the radio, b/c he's actually talented -- he sings, writes his songs, and dances.

i think the right people went home last week.

You wanna know who Ne-Yo is? Do you know that song where the chorus goes, "I'm so sick of love songs...."? You couldn't escape that freakin' song three months ago. The radio overplayed it to death, on both the pop stations and the hip-hop stations.

Does anyone else think that Mary is like an annoying little dog?
