TVgasm Gives You More, More, More -
by J-Unit
For those of you who don't know, The 4400 centers around a group of 4400 people from around the world who had previously gone missing, but were returned to earth around the same time a comet passed Earth. Due to the circumstances surrounding their departure and return, the most plausible answer is an alien abduction.
Why they were taken and why they were brought back is a mystery, but a few things are known. First, no matter how long they have been missing, they returned as if they hadn't aged a single day. Second, while they were gone, some of them had been changed in some fashion. One person has telekinetic powers, another can heal injured people, a creepy Dakota Fanning-ish girl knows the future, and one woman even returned pregnant (what's inside, we don't know).
TVgasm doesn't delve into sci-fi that much, but as the resident sci-fi geek (a very relative term, I assure you), I will say that I did enjoy The 4400 and Battlestar Galactica, and nearly wept when they canceled Firefly. While the acting on the 4400 isn't bad, the performances aren't going to blow you away. I do think that it has a different take on the alien abduction theme and possesses some interesting characters as well.
OK, now for what you've been waiting for - the contest. For the prize we will be giving away The 4400 Season One on DVD, an official t-shirt, and an official hat. Since I do like the show, you will have to do a little more than simply send your name in to enter, but it's still not that much effort. For the contest, I would like for you to answer the question "If you were abducted by aliens and only had one CD to take with you, what would it be and why?". Send your answers to contests@tvgasm.com with the subject "The 4400" and your answer to the question in the body of the message. We'll be taking entries through June 5th.
And remember, you can also win stuff from Six Feet Under and Into the West.

I watched the 4400 last summer, and the people actually weren't taken by aliens. The end of last summer's run revealed that they were taken by future humans facing extinction and sent back with special powers so they could thwart the impending (and still unidentified) disaster. So we do know why they were taken and by whom, although we don't know the details or why these particular people were chosen and why they were taken from various places and times.
I'm usually not a big sci-fi fan, but for some reason (perhaps the lack of decent new programming in the summer?) this one caught my attention last year. I look forward to your recaps (if you do choose to do them) this year.
