While writing this portion, I left out the part where Richard is driving with Berkhoff and Tess and gets a call from the center on his Blackberry telling him that Isabelle is at the center. He knew that was trouble, and Tess let him out of his mind control long enough to do what he needed to do. He got to the classroom just as Isabelle looked like she was going to smash Tom's head in. Isabelle couldn't believe they were going to have to go through this again, but Richard said that although she can't be saved, if she stops what she's doing, he’d still support her through whatever comes next.

Isabelle only laughs, and it looks like Richard has no clue what he is going to do, but he notices the syringe that Tom was trying to reach, and used his telekinesis to stick it right into Isabelle's neck before she knew what hit her. She dropped to the ground, and although Isabelle was a huge bitch and literally the most dangerous person in the world, it's still tough for a father to kill his own daughter. But then something strange happened. Isabelle got up again!

When Isabelle got up, I thought that this would be quite the way to end the season, with a death of one of these characters, but something was different. Isabelle looked like she was trying to kill her father or throw him across the room or something, but nothing was happening. Whatever was in the syringe must have taken away her powers, but Tom didn't want to take that chance. He pointed the gun at Isabelle and...oh come on! Like Tom ever had the guts to actually kill somebody. We've seen this scene how many times, and every time Tom....

BANG!

Whoa! What the hell? Tom actually shot her! I guess he didn't want to take the chance that Isabelle might get her powers at some point. And that message from the future did say "Kill Isabelle". However, just when I thought that Tom wasn't a huge pussy, we return from commercial and see Isabelle is in the hospital. Tom popped her in the shoulder instead of going for the headshot. And even if he just had bad aim, if he wanted to kill her, wouldn't he have put three or four more rounds into her chest and another couple into her head for good measure?

Now that there could be hundreds or thousands more people with abilities, NTAC's job is going to be tougher, and Tom is going to do it all without his partner, at least for the next six months. Diana decided to go to Spain with Ben, and she was taking Maia with her. And to make matters worse, as they were leaving, Maia told Alana that while all of them were coming back, Alana wouldn't be here when they returned. WHAT? NOOOOO! They already took her away from me once. What am I supposed to do if they take her away again? Oh, and I'm sure Tom will be wondering where his wife went at some point as well.

I was wondering what Maia meant, but found out in the closing montage. As they wrapped up the season, they showed us Isabelle and Shawn. How ironic that they are in comas in hospital. You have to wonder if Isabelle's fate has really changed, or if Shawn is going to love her now that she can't do so much damage. And then, as I a feared, Alana is taken away. The same blob of light that abducted everybody and then dropped them back in Seattle took Alana away. I have no idea why it had to be Alana, but I tell you right now, they had better give me a pretty damn good explanation when the show starts next summer.

But let's face it, the thing we are all interested in is who is going to be juicing with the promicin, and who isn't. There are a lot of people who want to try, and not surprisingly, two of them are very close to this ongoing saga. First we see Kyle, and then we see April have received doses. While neither of them have actually taken the doses, they shoot it to assume that we are. As predicted, people are lining up to receive the promicin, and in the cheesiest of endings, once the random homeless guy is done handing the dosages out on screen, he turns to the camera, looks at us and asks if we want to try for ourselves.

Honestly, what the fuck was that? That little move nearly ruined the entire episode for me. It's going to be interesting where they take the series because both of the main enemies, Ryland and Isabelle, appear to be neutralized. Does Isabelle take some promicin and become badass again? How will she treat her father? What will happen with all the new people with abilities? Why did they take Alana and how long will she be gone? My guess is that Collier becomes evil and maniacal again, but the show can literally go anywhere.

What did you think of the finale?

Great recap, J-Unit! First, I want to take a moment to congratulate you on the correct usage of "it's" in the third paragraph. Second, I agree that the Diana/Ben storyline is boring and that nobody cares about it. What a waste of airtime. Wouldn't it have been interesting if, while they were getting ready to leave, some crazy side effect from her exposure to promicin came out? Oh, and since this is the last recap of the season, may I just say... I like boobies!

"I like boobies!" Whoo! Ok, now that I got that out of my system. Carp, crap, crap, crap!! The show FINALLY starts to get good again and I have to wait until June of next year to see what happens? That's bullmalarky! Craptastic! I'm stomping my feet here. If BD takes another cruise around the world until the final two or three episodes next year, I'll be forced to write this show off forever. I hope to gawd Maia is not in Europe until the final three episodes next year as well. They better bring her back almost immediately when the show starts. I really hated that they didn't focus on her as much. I like Shawn's character but I prefer him with the cleaned up junkie over Isabelle any day of the week. Even worse, the writer's bring the junkie back and they not only don't bring back the original actress, they can't even recast a redhead like the original, they make her a blonde with no explanation who looks nothing like her. I just couldn't get into it at all! It was like he started dating a new strange girl all of a sudden. Ugh! Worse, huge UGH! Alana on the run, ugh! Comes back, great, come to find out in the finale, thanks to Maia, she's going to go away again....HUGE UGH!!! Watch this be a "Bobby in the shower" number. She was never here and was a figment of our imagination to help us get through the times ahead of us. I sense not just a Jump Over The Shark, I sense a Jump Over The Huge Fricking Whale! All in all though, compared to all season long, it was a good episode. I had almost given up on the season. It was good to see Richard given more upfront role in this episode though.

First off, so nice to see Richard get some actual character instead of just standing around stammering and squinting and dating white girls. He went from most boring dude on the show to captain save the day.

Good finale- I like how this show kidn of starts a new story without a "down the hatch" cliffhanger that drives you bonkers.

Thanks for the recap, J-Unit. I agree the ending was cheesy and no, I don't want any promicin, thank you very much. I have this aversion to nasty side effects that lead to death. Call me a pussy but I am what I am (toot, toot).
I also agree that the Diana/Ben storyline is boredom personified. Not only do I not care if they are together, I don't care if Diana comes back. Maia can always find another mother.
Too bad the syringe didn't kill Isabelle but maybe it will be fun watching her having to be "ordinary".
Oh and I still like boobies.

You have another loyal follower w/ these recaps in me, J-Unit. It's nice to see Colonel Maybourne have a job as a homeless person hocking promicin since SG1 'raced the family'. Ha.

I know Boyd was in the Nova group and all- but seriously- I think he has the coolest supah power of them all. Made me mad he was one of the first to be sacrificied for good ol' JC.

The breaking the 4th wall bit at the end was completely cheesetastic.

I can't believe anyone, even the homeless would take a 50/50 shot at living or dying. It's not like you're guaranteed a power, much less a cool power. Given the not so fun ends and social exile a lot of the 4400 have come too, it's not that great a reward anyway. If it was going to make you thin and pretty however...

Tom completely pussied out on killing Isabel. Was there a word in the phrase "kill Isabelle" he didn't understand?

Great recap! "An Affair to Forget" is a perfect name for the Diana/Ben relationship. Does that realtionship have any point at all except to get Diana and Maia out of the way for a little while.

OK, another hottie gone. First Lily (hot and annoying, but at least replaced by the equally as hot and annoying Isabelle), now Devon and Alana?!? WTF?

I loved this episode. I felt some closure and yet can't wait for the next season to begin. The end was a bit much and pulled me out of what was happening - so that sucked, but overall it was a pretty exciting.
