Great stuff! You have crystalized my every thought about this season going directly into the shitter. There's an infinitely less well thought out version on Scamboogah. But again, fantastic stuff as always.

Wow. Great analysis. It's just too bad that the majority of what's left of the season has already been written, let alone filmed. The writers could really take a few of these comments to heart. Especially about cutting out the meta-references.

That was a brilliant analysis of everything that has gone wrong with the O.C. this season. I have been disapointed week after week with the lack luster nature of the show. I could never put into words what was missing with the show, but you totally nailed a bunch of the main aspects.

This show needs to stop production until they get some fan imput like yours and then resume course.

One thing i have noticed about the sort of high school power vaccum is that school seems more like University than High School. I would find the coffee lounging and lack of dominant Alpha Males and Females more believeable if they were at College. But all High Schools have pecking orders, insecurities, and lets face it, straight up evil popular people. Is there school more evolved than most schools? I think not.

And you totally nailed it with the dropping of character thing. So much wasted potential.

Perfectly done!! This season has been SUCH a letdown on so many levels and you totally nailed every reason why. Just about every person I know who loved the show like I did last year has been feeling that same disappointment and malaise with it this year. The only reason I even watch anymore is that faint hope that *maybe* this will be the week they turn it around and I start to see the version of the show I fell in love with. But sadly, every week it steers itself even further up close. The only reason I even bother to tune in anymore is the deliciously evil Melinda Clarke. Cause they made me hate Sandy for his treatment of Kirsten in favor of McBloatypants Rebecca, Kirsten for even SPEAKING to him after all he did to her let alone forgive him, and Summer for being such an idiot to take Seth back when he clearly has shown no growth or signs that he's not the same immature jerk who would abandon her again.

And Josh - please start writing every ep, even if the show sucks right now I can't sit through another JJ-penned episode.

Your rants about the OC are so internet. "God, I loved the show, but now it sucks." Get over it.

I see your choices as:

1. Stop watching the OC because I doubt Josh Schwartz gives a rat ass about what you think.

2. Get on board and enjoy the OC since it is probably the best comedy on TV since Sienfeld closed shop.

If you don't pick any of these choices, old Ryan is coming to kick your ass. ;-)

I also like to think I'm somewhat informed on this having spent the past two and a half years in film and television development. I'm glad you personally have finally found a show as funny as "Sienfeld" (sic), but sadly, that just makes you look like an idiot.

I agree with a lot that you said in your analysis..However I'm hooked on the show and would hate to see it not air again for a fourth season..have any of the producers or writers seen your analysis??
