Recap: The OC: The Neverending Death of Marissa Cooper -
by Umnata
Before Ryan heads back to Casa de Cohen, he makes his first stop at Marissa's grave. I thank the television gods that he doesn't pour his heart out to the headstone. He is joined a moment later by Julie, who devastatingly admits to being there everyday. Got to hand it to Melinda Clark, she is doing some of the best ever mourning on television. Ryan has a change of heart about the file she had on Volchek and asks her for it. When she inquires about what changed his mind he ominously says: "I need to do this." DUN DUN DUN!
So what did we think about the season premiere? In case I wasn't clear... I loved it, which is a really nice break for me from heading from one sorry ass episode of Desperate Housewives to weekly shit shows on Nip/Tuck. I think The O.C. is FINALLY living up to its hype again. Let's hope it continues...

I LOVED the season premiere. Honestly, I think the show is going to be better off without Mischa Barton and her wooden acting. (And I never ever ever bought the fact that her and Ryan were "soul mates." Please.) And the hippie-chic Summer is just too funny. I thought the season premiere was a testament to the great acting on the OC and I can't wait for more new episodes.

I don't know if this will be the best season ever, but I do know Ryan is looking the hottest he's ever looked! I loved the season premiere. Summer at Brown was funny. I can see her trying to save the chickens! LOL I just hope Ryan doesn't end up in prison.
Great re cap Umnata

The O.C. is one of my favorite shows and I have stuck by it through the good and the bad. I'm glad that this season is looking like it will be good. I was one of those devastated people when Marissa died, but I think Kaitlin & her minions are a nice addition to the cast. Does anyone wonder what it will be like when Seth goes to RISDI? Hopefully the rest of the season will be live up to the hype!

So glad to see you're still covering the OC. Like the Rolling Stones or communist dictators, these guys just don't know when to call it quits. But I assure you that neither do I, and I will be watching and enjoying the recaps week after week.

Liked the show, loved the recap. I heard the show was supposed to get really good on or around the 4th episode. Unfortunately, Total Nonstop Action's show premieres in prime time in a week. So, basically, I'm choosing between a soap opera with bad music and shirtless guys and a soap opera with bad music and shirtless guys and a slight homoerotic slant.
MAN, I'm a geek.

J-Light, The OC is also one of my favorite shows, and I'm glad it's back.
A couple of things about the premiere:
I was really bummed out about Dr. Roberts and Julie Cooper. The woman just lost her first born, and this guys goes and "sticks" someone else, b/c he needed the companionship.
Summer really depressed me. Did anyone seems to notice that she is hurting too?
The whole feel to the episode was really dark. You know after a loved one dies, it feels like a dream. It felt like a dream to me. I kept waiting for a "Hey" or something.
But no Marissa Cooper.
So, I was impressed.
Welcome back OC!

I can't give up on the O.C either! I liked the premiere. Court_Love, I agree with you on Summer, Seth is blind to her pain. Poor Summ flies all the way back home to fix Seth's family and she just can't fix hers. It's so sad! Will that lead to Seth & Summer breaking up again?
Thanks for the great recap Umnata!

"Like when Valerie moved into the Walsh household, sparked up her blunt after acting all goody goody with Cindy and Jim and then called the 90210 gang a bunch of avocado heads" LMAO.. wow I had to comment just because of that.Great Recap.I loved the premiere more than I thought I would. I love kaitlyn's character, and can't wait to see what's going to happen with Seth and Summer. I hope they don't break up.I also heard that Ryan and Taylor hook up, that'll be really weird...

Those shows may be weak - but you elevate them with your kick-ass recaps. :)

It does seem like the show is righting itself again, but I doubt they can recapture the magic of the first season (pre-Oliver of course).
One comment- Did anyone else notice how freaking skinny every female on the show has gotten? Summer, Katitlyn, Julie, etc... Everyone had collarbones on parade.

"At Julie Cooper-Nicoll-Roberts's home, our poor depressed JuJu is taking stock of her medicine cabinet: Oxycotton: Check. Prozac: Check. Mmm, Elephant Tranquilizers: Check and Check. Julie makes a selection, and heads downstairs where Kaitlin is putting on the Thigh high assassin boots she borrowed from Angelina Jolie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
TOO FUNNY!

A few things-some has already been touched on:
I think Summer is supa skinny-everyone else didn't really notice, but Summer is tooo skinny.
Seth's powerpoint had me boo-hooing for like an hour (i know..i know...I'v been a fan from the beginning tho...)
Ryan is HOT this season!!!
Do we think Julie heard what Dr Roberts said when he admitted his wrong doing? She acted like she didn't- but I think she did.!

What an awesome recap Umnata! You are so witty and sly - even if I didnt watch this show, I would read your recap to be entertained...I love that Sandy's eyebrows have their own say about things with you!! Kudos Kudos!!
I love this show - I think it is back and better than ever. Did anyone else notice the arm muscles our boy Ryan is getting? (yes I said muscles - just like popeye).
I actually missed the show on TV last week but watched it on my 'puter last night instead. That, my friends, ROCKS! You can even watch this weeks episode already (which I did and I wont spoil it for you...)
Cant wait for your next recap!

Just an FYI, for those that want the show to continue-be careful watching it only on the PC-that hurts ratings!!!
