Summer of Swag Winners, Part 1 - TVgasm

by J-Unit

tvgasmwinners

Over the last few weeks, TVgasm gave you the chance to win a bunch of prizes. We ran promotions for Into the West (the first episode continues tonight and new episodes follow for six weeks), the final season of Six Feet Under, which is now under way, as well as the second season of The 4400. We want to thank everybody for participating, and we announce the winners after the jump.

For the giveaways for Into the West and Six Feet Under, we used a random drawing to pick the names of the winners among the people who e-mailed for each contest. For Into the West, TVgasm reader Reed will be taking home the prize package, including a signed poster. The winner for the Six Feet Under contest is TVgasm reader Mega, and she'll be receiving the Six Feet Under Soundtrack: Volume 2: "Everything Ends." Congratulations to both.

The third promotion was for the premier of The 4400. Because I wanted to put a little more thought into this contest, I decided I wanted the readers to get a little creative and tell me the music they would bring along with them if they were abducted by aliens. It also meant that I would get to decide who wins based on things like originality, creativity, and how much I like the person's taste in music. Therefore, I am sorry to several people who suggested something from the Dave Matthews Band, because I think they suck.

Most people believed that they would be best served by taking something that they really enjoyed listening to, or hoped the aliens would enjoy listening to. There was another large group of people who believed that it was important to bring something that would perhaps distract the aliens and help with their escape. Some of the suggestions were Absolutely The Best by Slim Whitman, made famous in that it was used in Mars Attacks to kill off the Martians, and on a similar note somebody suggested Mariah Carey's first album, believing that the notes in "Vision of Love" would help with the escape. But, as that reader wrote "it would be just my luck if they weren't and I was stuck listening to 'Love Takes Time' over and over while being probed in places and ways I choose not to think about."

But I feel that one person had the best attitude about the whole alien abduction, and chose some pretty good music as well. TVgasm reader R-Dawg chose Al Green's Greatest Hits. Now that's just some damn good music, and as R-Dawg explains "No I do not want to be taken advantage of by these aliens and have some weird alien love child- But if I'm going to be getting them anal probes I might as well be in the mode for some lovin." And that's something I think we all can appreciate.

Watch in the next couple of weeks as TVgasm gives away some more free stuff. Thanks again for reading, and I'll be contacting the winners in the next couple of days.

Whoohooo! that R Dawg is a genuis!!

BTW I wateched into the west last night. it wasn't half bad. wasn't great, I wouldn't have watched it during regular season, but it passed the time.

I am disappointed that I did not win, but I am proud that my comments on Mariah Carey's singing (also called shrieking by some) made the article. It's a big moment for me. Too bad I didn't have a more positive attitude toward alien probing!

I think DMB during alien probing would have been just lovely. Suggested tracks: "Sweet Up and Down", "Too Much", "The Space Between" and the unreleased track "There's an Alien Sticking Something Up My Ass."
