Oh Baby, What a Show! -
by
It's time to answer the hottest blog-debate since noted TV criticism blog TVgasm hired MTV reality veteran Dan Renzi to write some guest recaps. Yes folks, my sudden hiatus generated like, 4 emails from readers! Rumors abounded; was I really a huffer? Was it jealousy over EdHill getting all the female reader adulation week in and week out? Or, most often overheard - Was I just too goddamn funny?
Alas, none of these rumors are true... well, okay, the EdHill thing has always kind of bugged me. But I guess that's alright because a) I'm very happily married and b) I'm now a very happy and proud new daddy to little baby-dub. That's right, with the help of my better half, we have unleashed our sarcastic seed upon the world Wednesday night (1/25/06 for your iCal's). He's a healthy and absurdly cute little boy who will undoubtedly be writing on this very blog in a few years. Is Bob the Builder a latent homosexual? What is really wrong with "The Wiggles?" Baby Einstein kicks Baby Mozart's ass! Oh man, this kid is great already!
Anyway, with the impending birth (our first), I had to take some time off from TVgasm (remember, I do have a "real" job too, y'know) to do a million little things around the house. And now I have to do a million more little things to make life as easy as possible for my new son and my wonderful wife over the next several weeks. So bear with me.

Because monkeys are funny
If anything, baby-dub proves one thing once and for all: TVgasm writers actually do get laid once in a while. I know, I know, TVgasm isn't usually the place for such posts but what the hell - I'm a dad!

And here I thought you're sabbatical was so you could serve some time in prison for some really sexy little crime. But this works too! My sincerist congrats to you and Mrs. Dub - you combined to make quite an adorable child. Seal and Heidi Klume could learn a thing or two from you. And thank you for sharing the photos with your TVGasm family. Does this make me Auntie Tink?

Baby-dub. Perfect!
"Scweet schweet bay-bee..." hmmmm. Have fun little one! Many blessings and may your home be filled with as much laughter as possible.
Love,
Aunt Helenann
p.s. I think "Aunty Tink-tink" is perfect, too! :)

Congrats.
First, proud of you for giving a much-deserved shout out to the wifey.
I've got 4 kids and the older two are boys. When they're little, you work really hard just to keep them out of traffic...but never fear, eventually they just want some meals and for you to leave them the hell alone while they play video games.
Welcome to the club!! And watch that little pecker when you're changing diapers....it's amazing how something so small can launch urine so accuratley into ones face.

Yea! How exciting. Why am I grinning from ear to ear? Conratulations to you both. What a beautiful specimen. hazasaem gave great advice. Try to say yes as much as possible without becoming a human doormat and you'll be fine. Also, worship and pamper your wife, but you already do that I'm sure.
Don't sweat the EdHill thing. I think it's just because he's such a bad boy. Besides, you've got quite a sexy chin, your wife, in addition to being amazing, has a cute cheek and you have that squirmy bundle between now. All is right with the world.

You can call me Holy Aunt Terror. I volunteer to help Little Dub on his first recap of "Goodnight Moon."
And I still don't believe you guys actually get laid. Letterman pulled the same trick. You rented a cute one, though, so I hope you went for the long lease.
Can I have the monkey when you're done?

Things I've learned from being a mom (the highlights, I have a zillion more observations)
• Little boys learn all on their own how to smash and demolish, even with toys that are not for that purpose
• As a rule, at least one kid that belongs to you will never fail to embarrass you in a restaurant
• Kids always ask questions about their bodily functions in public places, with a loud voice
• You cry the first time you hear your child read you a book
• It takes a few different tries to explain to your son that communion at church is not “snacks
• Having a baby asleep on your chest is the most wonderful feeling in the world
• Little boys get “morning wood starting at about 3. BE PREPARED. Mine always asked me, “why is my peep tall?
• Wandering off at the department store has nothing to do with gender, they all do that
• Little army men hurt when you step on them
• So do Legos
• If you dress your son in something white, it will inevitably be stained with red Kool-aid or mud within the hour
• Remodeling one’s main bathroom the colors of dirt, blood and grass saves time and effort
• Nothing is more warm and cuddly than a baby who’s been bathed and lotioned, they smell so good!
• One kid will require more ER visits and stitches than the other kids combined, no matter how many times you tell them not to jump off the back of the couch
• You want to smack the first kid who hurts your child’s feelings
• Your child will always have at least one friend who has no manners
• You love your child from the moment you lay eyes on them with a love so deep and intense, you never even knew you could feel like that
• All kids want is to be loved by someone

Who knew all these fans of snark were such softies? Congrats! As a dad of 2, just be forewarned that no matter how great and devoted a father you are, most newborns will not give good 'ol dad the time of day until they are 3-4 months old. So if you try for 20 minutes to get the kid to stop crying to no avail and then all your wife does is show up in the room and baby dub suddenly quiets, don't take it personally. It takes a while for baby to develop the attachment to dad that they instantly have with mom, but it does happen. I think if new fathers were warned of this ahead of time they wouldn't feel so bad about it, but no one ever tells you.

When your son figures out what's wrong with The Wiggles, please let me know. I've been trying to convince the little ones in my life that The Wiggles aren't all that great--"Let's watch Finding Nemo now. Come on, let's put The Wiggles away..." It doesn't work.
Congratulations!

Try and get your kids into "Little Bear" or "Max and Ruby" on Nick Jr. Definitely the most soothing and least annoying shows out there for preschoolers.

I have missed your recaps, and was really getting frustrated at you for your lack of dedication to the sight. After seeing baby dub, all is forgiven. Congrats to you and your wife.
But was that first sentence the beginning of what I had hoped would be an apology for Dan's recent recaps? Oh it was not meant to be.
Hurry back , this site is in need of your recaps. Don't worry about Edhills admiration around here.
Just like your frequent wake ups to feed the baby, his time shall soon pass.
Just kidding Edhill. Now where is the LOST recap?

I watched Max and Ruby on the treadmill at the gym one saturday morning and was ready to throw myself out of a window by the end. Every little story was a never ending vignette about the girl rabbit telling the boy rabit what to do and the boy disobeying.
Dora the explorer. Now that's some real entertainment.
