Once Upon a Time In Mexico -
by J-Unit
To say that Veronica took the breakup a little hard is a gross understatement. She has dealt with breakups before, but she has had other things to take her mind off things, like her best friend's murder. This time, Veronica is able to put all of her emotions into mourning her loss, and starts out by playing the soundtrack from Sofia Coppola's best film (that would be The Virgin Suicides ) starting with How Can You Mend a Broken Heart by Al Green. You had to know Veronica Mars would have great taste, even when it comes to breakup music. Keith hears the music, and knows exactly what is going on, but decides that a little moping in your pajamas, eating nothing but cereal (what is a good breakup cereal? Grape Nuts?)

I used to love him, but it's all over now.
Veronica goes through the motions, and twelve hours later, the music is still going, and she is almost through getting rid of all of the photographic evidence that would remind her of Duncan. Keith is getting a touch worried, but she hasn't touched the Ani DiFranco, so he is still going to wait it out. Wallace shows up and sees that Veronica is upset, and it is of course a best friend's job to take your mind off things. It's times like these when you are feeling worthless and unattractive, and Veronica isn't helping things by not showering. You have to put yourself back out there. Get back into the game! In most places, saying that you just broke up with your billionaire boyfriend makes him hard to replace. In Neptune, there are plenty of rich kids walking around, and while they might not have billions, most of them will still be able to afford a new library or hospital wing in your honor.
One question that the viewers have about Wallace is where did he go, and why did he decide to come back? I know he was upset that his mom lied to him, but you think that he would have said something to his mother, and you think that his mother would have said something to Keith, who would have said something to Veronica, who would have mentioned it an episode. Maybe I missed the explanation of where he was, but we found out why he came back. No, it's not that he left his family all alone; like any young black kid, he wanted to play basketball.
I am waiting for Veronica to ask some probing questions, but her powers are a little weakened in her current state. Besides, we were about to get a little surprise. I was just joking about Duncan going crazy and skipping town, but it looks like that is exactly what he did. Duncan is not only missing; he took the baby. That means that it is a felony, and lamb has to take things really seriously. He arrests Veronica for being an accomplice to the kidnapping, and hauls her down to the police station for a lineup.
Did anybody else start to wonder why they would bring Veronica in, especially when everybody knew that Duncan and Veronica were on the outs? Veronica had been seen selling a pair of earrings that belong to Celeste Kane for $80,000. That would be plenty of money to finance, say, a trip to Mexico. Veronica admitted that she had sold the earrings, but the only reason why she did it was to pay for a lawyer. She and Duncan were planning on getting custody of the Meg's baby (is it just me or did we not get the baby's name?), but wanted to do it legal. Celeste Kane wasn't so interested in being a grandmother, and so Duncan couldn't count on his parents to help him out at all.
If this all sounds a little too convenient, I was right there with you, and so was Vincent Van Lowe, Neptune's other private investigator, who like most men his age on this show, have an almost creepy attraction to Veronica. Celeste Kane had hired Vincent, because she is not too fond of Veronica, and even though Duncan might be the smartest kid in the school, he's not savvy enough to pull this type of intrigue off without a hitch.
Normally Veronica is not one to be very cooperative with a Sheriff Lamb investigation, but kidnapping is serious, and she does owe Lamb a favor. Back when Meg was still alive (in a coma, yes, but alive), Duncan and Veronica were caught in the Manning's house. They had a good reason, because it turns out the Mannings were psychologically abusing their youngest daughter into thinking she was the spawn of the devil. Every parent wants their kid to grow up to do the right thing, but locking them in a closet for hours when they are bad is not the normal course of action you would expect. Anyway, Veronica agrees to help Lamb with the investigation and begins to right down everything that she knows.
