Once Upon a Time In Mexico -
by J-Unit
Lamb may be easily convinced, but I had not completely bought into this story, and Vincent Van Lowe definitely was not buying it. He made the "I'm watching you" motion towards her, meaning that he would be on the case. We know that Veronica can outsmart him without too much effort, but those eyes did get "Private Eyes" stuck in my head once again. I had such good feedback from my Edgar impersonation that I thought I would give you a little sample of me singing along with Mr. Van Lowe. [Click here to listen]I got Randy and Paula's DVD for Christmas, so I think I am really improving. In one last attempt to get Veronica to pony up some information, Vincent offered her $5000 if she helped find Duncan, and when Veronica refused, tried to plant a pen with a bug on it in her bag. It didn't work of course, but here is a mere idiot, and without any authority, he is nothing much more than a nuisance. It's Celeste Kane's money, so why should we care?
We know there is a hunt out for Duncan Kane, but our favorite, if unlikely, bad boy duo of Logan and Weevil, are doing a little investigation of their own. Weevil knows that somebody in his gang is working with the Fitzpatricks, and whoever is working with the Fitzpatricks is probably the one who killed Felix. Meanwhile, Logan is looking to figure out who framed him for Felix's murder. The easiest way to figure out who is working with the Fitzpatricks is to have somebody buy some drugs from Bootsy and Hector, the two PCHers that were with Felix and Logan on the bridge that night. Whoever comes up with the goods is probably the rat. Logan employed Dick to buy the ecstasy, and it was Hector who ended up being the ones with the goods. When confronted about it, Hector said that he wasn't working with the Fitzpatricks, and that he bought the drugs from an 09er whose father works with his mom.
Since all of the Hispanics in Neptune are poor and either work as domestics or live off the spoils of their grandchildren stealing cars, that means that this 09er had to have a dad who worked as a domestic. That could only be Shawn Freedrik. Weevil gets into Shawn's face, and he admits being a dealer, but says that he is not stupid enough to deal with the Fitzpatricks, because they are a little unforgiving when it comes to mistakes, to the point of using a blowtorch on your chest if you were a dime bag short. If it wasn't Shawn, then they are right back where they started, looking at Weevil's gang. Logan thinks that maybe it could have been Felix that was working with the Fitzpatricks, but Weevil dismisses that idea, because a Fitzpatrick killed Felix’s older brother, Gustavo “Reaper” Tombs. Now they really have no idea what is going on.
Logan and Weevil's investigation may be stalled, but the search for Duncan Kane continues. Kidnapping investigations often involve the FBI, especially in cases where Anthony LaPaglia is nowhere to be seen. In the Veronica Mars version of the FBI includes random black guy and Lucy Lawless. Seriously, what is the deal with Lucy and Viacom. First Two and a Half Men, next Locusts, reprised by Vampire Bats, and now Veronica Mars. If she shows up on Survivor, I'll have to figure out a way to quit Les Moonves.
The first thing the FBI does is bring Veronica back in for some questioning, and almost right away Veronica lets them know that Duncan had a .Mac account. Since Apple is not paying to give the sales pitch we heard on the show, you just need to know it is good for e-mail and online data backup. The FBI quickly does their thing, and they discover that Duncan's password was enakgem, or Meg Kane, spelled backwards. Wow, Duncan was sort of obsessed with Meg. I still can't believe he tried to pull this off without Veronica, but I guess he loves that kid.
The FBI doesn't have a monopoly on computer surveillance, and you would think that she would have already asked Mac to get the password for Duncan's .Mac account, but Veronica stumbled on something completely on her own. The basketball coach teaches her computer class, and to prepare the students for life of research, he asks them to find the latest box scores for the Pirate basketball team. While the other kids pick their brain, Veronica knows that she can look up Wallace Fennel and be taken straight to the latest games from Neptune High. This time around, Veronica wasn't taken to the sports results for Neptune, but the sports results for Wallace's high school in Chicago. Not only did that high school have a basketball team but Wallace was playing on it, and really kicking some ass.
So why would Wallace lie? Now this is something that takes Veronica's attention. Forget all of that shit about finding out where her ex-boyfriend took a missing baby; Wallace's mystery disappearance is much more important. Never mind that he is back, so why should we care why he left, even if he lied to Veronica about it? Well, Wallace's departure wasn't so innocent. When Veronica confronts him about it, he admits that he was having a great time in Chicago. he was on the same team as Rashard Rucker, the best basketball player in the country, and "this year's Lebron James" except that there will never be another Lebron James, mainly because the NBA has imposed a minimum age requirement on entrance into the NBA, so I guess the only thing you can say is that in a couple of years, he might be the next Rudy Gay.
