666 Park Avenue Recap: See you in Hell

Brian goes down to Alexis’ apartment to tell her he wants her to leave the Drake and quit her job as Louise’s assistant. Crazy Alexis tells him not to play hard to get, and by the way, the universe wants them together. In time he’ll see it himself. But Brian says that is all in Alexis’ head and he wants her out of his life. As he leaves, Alexis asks if he’s written anything good lately. He hesitates and she asks if he didn’t get “hot” (writing-wise) after the first time they made love. Brian calls her insane and says that has nothing to do with her.

Jane is looking at the picture of herself as a kid and has a flashback of the ceiling closing after she started going down the spiral staircase. Suddenly she hides the necklace and picture again and decides to go find Julian. I love how she can come and go at will in the “secure” wing that houses violent insane people.

She looks through the little window slot and doesn’t immediately see Julian, but she sees red writing on the wall – is it blood? – that looks like some kind of hieroglyphics.

“Be sure to drink your Ovaltine”

All of a sudden, she notices Julian in what looks like a straitjacket, hanging. They are big on hanging on this show. Even though he’s supposed to be dead, he opens his eyes and says “you shouldn’t have come here.” So what’s your point, Julian?

Brian’s at his desk, reading over his pages. Lou comes in wearing a bathrobe, post-shag, and says “that was nice.” She paws him a little, but Brian is distracted. Louise asks if he’s okay. He says he just needs to get back to work, and she offers to make lunch. Brian types, but the computer won’t work. He pounds on the keyboard, but nothing happens. He tries to write longhand with a pen, but all the pens he tries are out of ink. He tries a pencil, but it breaks! Ruh-roh!

Jane is back in her room, copying – in crayon – the hieroglyphics she saw in Julian’s room.

Henry comes to visit and Jane tells him she still can’t remember anything that happened to her. She mentions how another patient killed himself in the security ward last night. Henry wants to know how she knows and she admits that she sneaked in there to see if the guy knew anything about her situation. Henry clearly thinks she’s NUTS, but Jane insists she’s not sick.

Shaw is still getting beat up. Suddenly, he starts hallucinating that his dead dad is there talking to him. The dad says he’s sorry he never came back for little Victor or Victor’s mom. He says there’s no excuse and he hopes Shaw will forgive him. Shaw says of course he will. Victor’s dad says they’re both in danger, and the only thing to do is give Gavin what he wants because he still owes Gavin and they are running out of time. Where is the box? Shaw says he gave it to the priest where his mom is buried. Victor’s dad crumbles away and all of a sudden he turns into Gavin. Gavin says he knows Victor’s mom is buried at St. Thomas’ church – as is the red box. Shaw realizes he’s been played and says, “Damn you, Doran!” And don’t forget to curse those meddling kids, while you’re at it.

Legitimately, I’m sad about the show being cancelled. I do like it, and it was good to see John Locke and Vanessa Williams. I also think Nona is mad pretty. I bet they are so sad that the show is over.

But it’s for the best….a heroine as stupid as Jane could never hope to survive much longer anyway. And Henry is too boring to pull off the heartbroken or revenge-obsessed lover thing.

That’s a good question about Maris. If it had been me, when the staircase opened, I would have been like….actually, let’s go check with Maris about this and then we can come back.
No way in hell would I let someone I called a friend just enter a crazy ass hidden staircase in the bottom of a demon building.
    Hence, Nona secretly hates Jane.
That’s okay, Nons. We all hate Jane.

I was disappointed in Shaw for falling for Gavin’s old tricks so easily.
I know his brain was rattled, but he really didn’t think that his estranged/dead father came back from the dead just to tell him to do what Gavin wants did he? So dumb.

And Alexis, Brian, and Louise need to wrap up their love triangle already. I’m really tired of them going back and forth. Their little arc should have been three or four episodes at most.

I’m boycotting ABC… they keep dancing w/ the stars on forever and a day, but cancel decent shows like 666 Park Ave… the show had promise, especially if they killed off Jane and Henry and replaced them with better characters. It has enough intrigue to keep me coming back for more, and enough stupidity (aka Jane) to have me talk to my TV like she can hear me.
I also liked GCB, and that was cancelled last year… DAMN YOU ABC!

I like this show and I’m sad it’s been cancelled. It did feel really flat at times, but it had so much potential. There’s so many things building up, and so many directions they can go with them.

I feel the same way, but I have to ask: Is it any surprise that this show has met the same fate that every previous show in that time slot on Sunday night the past few seasons has met? The only bedeviled thing about 666 Park Avenue is the time slot!

I’m disappointed that the show is cancelled as well. I agree that the show could have potential if they had killed off Jane and Henry and brought in more life-like characters to replace them (that would have been easy to do, since the show is really about the building and not them). I love Vanessa Williams and Terry O’Quinn so I’m sad I won’t see the two of them together on my screen anymore. I won’t bother reading the recap since we won’t be getting the final 5, so what’s the point?

I loved this show and will miss it and your recaps. I’m surprised you didn’t stop recapping at the mid-season finale. The cliffhanger was really good.
