666 Park Avenue Recap: See you in Hell

A church. Presumably St. Thomas’. A non-Stones version of “Sympathy for the Devil” plays as Gavin enters. The holy water ripples when he walks by. Subtle!

Gavin enters a confessional, where he says, “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.” Although he admits that it would be a tall order for the priest to absolve someone like him. The priest knows who he is and why’s he’s there. He’s surprised that Gavin would be allowed to enter this hallowed place, but Gavin says he looooves churches.

Brian breaks down Alexis’ door, demanding to know what she did to him. She says it’s nothing he didn’t want. Brian is angry that he can’t write, but she says it’s like she told him – the universe wants them to be together. She says he can write when he’s with her, but not with Louise. Brian says that’s not possible, but apparently he’s willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, because they start making out and she slips off her robe.

Nurse Potter comes in to give Jane more pills. This time, Jane spits the pills out when the nurse leaves. A doctor comes in and says he needs Jane outside right away. She protests, but he drags her out and hands her over to Detective Cooper, who is taking her home. Apparently, Cooper helped the doc out with a DUI last year, so the doc is repaying him by letting a patient leave the hospital illegally. Jane thanks Cooper for believing her.

Now it’s Olivia’s turn to harass Shaw. She says that she was the only one who knew Sasha’s death was a suicide, how did he know? Shaw says that Sasha told him because she’s still alive. Olivia thinks that Shaw is mocking her and she backhands him. He says whether she hits him again or not, it’s the truth. Olivia hits him again. Heh.

Hell hath no fury… literally

Shaw says Olivia doesn’t have to believe him, but if she lets him go, he will take her to Sasha.

Gavin has the box back and puts it in his secret safe while Kandinsky watches. Gavin says it’s time to close the deal with Shaw. Kandinsky leaves as Alexis comes into Gavin’s office. Gavin asks what he can do for her. Alexis says she can’t do “this” anymore because “he” is going out of his mind. Gavin says that she just lights up around Brian and they make a striking couple. Alexis says she can’t deal with the guilt even though she knows what Gavin did for her. She just can’t destroy people like Gavin can. Gavin says Alexis should have taken her “tender” nature into consideration and notes that everyone has to pay to play. He says at least she’s got company, although I don’t know if he’s referring to someone specific or just all the people in the building whose lives he fucked up.

Jane comes into her apartment wearing totally different clothes than the ones she had in the hospital. She cuts her hospital bracelet off, and when she goes to put the scissors back into the drawer, she finds the engagement ring that Henry had bought for her. She says, “Oh, Henry.” Just then, he comes in and they embrace. Henry asks how she got out of the hospital and she lies and says they let her go. Henry says he loves her and doesn’t want anything to happen to her.

Legitimately, I’m sad about the show being cancelled. I do like it, and it was good to see John Locke and Vanessa Williams. I also think Nona is mad pretty. I bet they are so sad that the show is over.

But it’s for the best….a heroine as stupid as Jane could never hope to survive much longer anyway. And Henry is too boring to pull off the heartbroken or revenge-obsessed lover thing.

That’s a good question about Maris. If it had been me, when the staircase opened, I would have been like….actually, let’s go check with Maris about this and then we can come back.
No way in hell would I let someone I called a friend just enter a crazy ass hidden staircase in the bottom of a demon building.
    Hence, Nona secretly hates Jane.
That’s okay, Nons. We all hate Jane.

I was disappointed in Shaw for falling for Gavin’s old tricks so easily.
I know his brain was rattled, but he really didn’t think that his estranged/dead father came back from the dead just to tell him to do what Gavin wants did he? So dumb.

And Alexis, Brian, and Louise need to wrap up their love triangle already. I’m really tired of them going back and forth. Their little arc should have been three or four episodes at most.

I’m boycotting ABC… they keep dancing w/ the stars on forever and a day, but cancel decent shows like 666 Park Ave… the show had promise, especially if they killed off Jane and Henry and replaced them with better characters. It has enough intrigue to keep me coming back for more, and enough stupidity (aka Jane) to have me talk to my TV like she can hear me.
I also liked GCB, and that was cancelled last year… DAMN YOU ABC!

I like this show and I’m sad it’s been cancelled. It did feel really flat at times, but it had so much potential. There’s so many things building up, and so many directions they can go with them.

I feel the same way, but I have to ask: Is it any surprise that this show has met the same fate that every previous show in that time slot on Sunday night the past few seasons has met? The only bedeviled thing about 666 Park Avenue is the time slot!

I’m disappointed that the show is cancelled as well. I agree that the show could have potential if they had killed off Jane and Henry and brought in more life-like characters to replace them (that would have been easy to do, since the show is really about the building and not them). I love Vanessa Williams and Terry O’Quinn so I’m sad I won’t see the two of them together on my screen anymore. I won’t bother reading the recap since we won’t be getting the final 5, so what’s the point?

I loved this show and will miss it and your recaps. I’m surprised you didn’t stop recapping at the mid-season finale. The cliffhanger was really good.
