Abby’s Ultimate Dance Recap: Abby Sized Double!

Welcome, Gasmii, to a special two-part Abby-sized recap to catch us up on the dance show we love to hate.  Or is it hate to love?  Either way, here we go!

HAPPILY NEVER AFTER

Previously, the moms were on their worst behavior, except for Yvette somehow, who showed that she might have some sort of spark of a soul in that frightening husk of a body she has.  Lexine was sent home, and that little inappropriate chipmunk Asia  is STILL here.

Kristie knows that Asia has to deliver this week, and Yvette thinks there’s a conspiracy to keep Hadley in the bottom.  I’d say less a conspiracy and more producer planning.  But whatevs.  Abby comes in wearing a tiara complete with scepter.

Definitely a Bad Bitcch, not a Good Bitch.

So the theme is fairytales.  The choreographer for the challenge is individuality, so Anthony Burell needs to see them put their own stank on the moves he teaches them.  The winner of the challenge is the lead in the group dance and gets to dance in a duet.

Amanda knows that her biggest struggle this week is letting go, and showing everyone that she can do something with her face.  I guess that damn eyebrow raise just isn’t enough anymore.  Judging begins.

“I hate all of you.”  “What am I doing here?”

No one is really standing out to me, but I did spy with my little eye some eyebrow performance from Amanda.

But is it enough?

I do notice that Asia was behind on some moves, and Abby dismissed Asia.  Jordyn  improves her horrible disgusting turned out feet, but needs to fix her ankles, so POOF, she’s gone too.  Abby had Madison and Amanda go head-to-head, and doesn’t make a decision right away.  She then calls Hadley forward to dance against Amanda.  Abby tells Hadley to peace the fuck out, but takes the time to tell her that it’s because her toes are crunched AS USUAL.

This isn’t Abby’s Ultimate Bound Feet Competition.

Now It’s time for Brianna, Madison, and Amanda to dance it off.  Abby says Brianna is strong and great, but she looked at the ground the whole time, so she’s out.  Abby makes a right decision for once, and gives the challenge to Madison.  We learn that her duet will be with Amanda, and the theme with will be Snow White and the Evil step Mother.

During group rehearsal, Anthony is correcting Jordyn, and Kelly finds it inacceptable that she can’t consistently keep the corrections.  This woman is getting on my nerves.  Is yelling at her daughter and berating her even more really going to help?

Madison and Amanda are practicing their duet, and Amanda is the Evil stepmother.  Amanda is struggling because the two are friends and she says she’s not really evil.  Which is kind of cute, but it also opens the door to critique for the main event, so bitch better get her evil on and make it believable.

God I want to smack Robyn every time she talks.

I was so sad to see Jordyn go home. She was my fav. That little girl rocked it too on the Japanese number. What a shame. I love her attitude too. She was not whining or complaining or crying. She was positive and said she would take more technique classes to get even better and continue to improve. I see great things in her future and hope to see her name in lights someday.

I really liked the fairy tale theme. Those dances were great. It was not exactly fair giving Amanda Latin considering she does that as her main dancing.

I actually loved Hadley’s Tinkerbell. I feel very bad for her and don’t dislike her. She was so stressed out and crying so hard. I just wanted to hug her. She seems to be a sweet girl in spite of her horrible mother. I want to adopt her.

I was kinda cringing during that flexibility test. Just because we are pushing these little girls to potentially stretch themselves further than they should in order to win and sure enough one of them got hurt. That might be taking it a little too far.

I guess I am not snarky enough because I feel sad when they call the little girls names or insult them or they cry. I just want to hug them. Asia is so little and of course she doesn’t understand why Madison said something bad about her. She thinks everyone is her friend like all kids that age do. I actually really like Asia’s mom the more I see her. I thought she handled that very well just trying to explain to Asia it was not personal but it is a competition and not everyone is going to like her, which is true. I also appreciate how she stands up for her daughter and won’t take crap from the other mothers. Now if only she would stop letting them oversexualize her little girl, then she would be perfect.

I still am saying Brianna will be our winner, Amanda runner up. I don’t know…..even though Madison is way better, the judges just don’t feel her for some reason. I love her style and she just needs some improvement on her face and she would be amazing. So I kinda see Asia making it to top three over Madison.

I like all the girls, but I will seriously be upset if the top three ISN’T Madison, Brianna and Amanda. I’m rooting for Brianna. She seems like such a nice kid, with a nice mom, AND she is an incredible dancer and I think that Joffrey scholarship would not be lost of her. My runner-up would be Madison, with Amanda in 3rd, but that’s probably not going to happen. They don’t seem to like Madison as much as Amanda, though I really don’t see why.. I think Madison is amazing! I agree with April about it not being fair that Amanda got to do Latin dancing when that is the main type of dancing she does, but, a lot of things aren’t fair. Asia is still on here and Zach isn’t, which still upsets me. I do like Asia. I mean, she does come off as a bit bratty, but she is just a baby. She just turned 7, I think. She does have incredible stage presence and dancer for her age, but she is competing against 12 and 13 yr. olds, so if it’s to be fair then she should be gone by now. She’s awesome though, and in a few years who knows where she’ll be..

    My projected winner is Brianna..

i have to wonder whether they held back on sending asia home last week to put one girl leaving in between haadley and asia? to pretend that they weren’t keeping those two around for drama? i DO think asia is going home this week.

even though i’m sure jordyn finds it annoying for her mother to be such a hard-ass, i actually think she’s keeping her ready to deal with the rejection and criticism that comes with any dance career — jordyn seems to take it well and she’s not a sensitive little butterfly who cries when she gets something other than praise (unfortunately the case with too many kids these days). i think kelly, as a dance teacher, knows this, and is preparing jordyn.

does anyone wonder if maybe amanda’s eyebrows are just uneven to begin with? i can’t really tell, but i screwed up my eyebrows BADLY over ten years ago doing them myself, and even though i’ve gone through all the time since having them fixed consistently, there is still a tiny difference that really shows when i change my facial expression (not veru noticeable when my face is neutral), so if i raise my eyebrows, i think it looks like i’m raising one much more than the other. makes me wonder if this is the case for amanda, and she can’t help how it looks like she’s always raising one eyebrow.

add another vote for brianna as winner.

i wish abby would just sit on Robin and save us from our misery. Why does she think that anyone cares about the PCD?
I love Amanda the most for some reason but I though Brianna was the best this week.
Asia is amazing for her age, but come on… she needs to go home!

I agree with Brianna winning, Amanda #2 and Madison 3– Madison just doens’t have much stage presence to me… yes, she’s a fantastic dancer, but I never want to look at her, whereas performers like Asia (as much as it kills me) completely command attention on stage.

As far as we know she is just a dance studio owner/dance teacher and mother. I don’t know if that is what she has always done.

I watch with a large group of friends and everyone was rolling when Abby called Asia \a pigeon-toed, squatty little nothing.\ It was so mean and so Abby. I get the feeling that Abby sort of resents having to keep Asia around because of the producers and the drama. It seems like Richy and Robin are actual Asia fans, but Abby’s been faking it. The above comment came out of nowhere and is probably how Abby has felt for awhile. I can’t believe that kid is still around.

I can’t stand Kristie. She’s so trashy. Actually, she is the lethal combination of smug and trashy. She seems like a nasty person and I loved Coreen being all, “I’ll say it to your face!” Coreen cracks me up.

Jordyn is a gem. I hope she continues to ignore her mother’s harping. That kid is delightful.

I gotta agree with Abby. Madison and Amanda are beautiful technical dancers, but they don’t have it in the face. At all. I know they are trying but it is not enough. When I coached my junior girls I would tell them the person at the very back of the theater needs to see that expression too so bigger and more out there the better! You can’t do too much basically. Better for them to tell you to scale it back than tell you to give them more. Asia is only 7 and she gets that. So mad props to her on that. I know teenage dancers who don’t and never got that.

Brianna is the winner because she has facial expressions plus the technical dancing and that is why out the the girls she is the best. Jordyn got the facial expressions. I don’t like when dancers think they are too cool to have a huge cheesy smile on your face or make big facial expressions.

I also am getting freaking tired of the judges continuing to criticize choreography and themes like that is somehow the dancer’s fault. They keep doing it! I just want to jump through the tv and be like “Hey they are not choreographing the number dummies!!!!!”

Everyone is going to jump on me, but Asia did better than Amanda on the new episode. I paid close attention to Asia’s feet when she did her solo. They were pointed most of the time. She is taking corrections. Amanda showed improvement in her face too, but she didn’t completely go for it. She could have done more. Madison improved with her face some too but again, could have done more.

I don’t like how Madison is straight up making fun of the other dancers. A 13 year old should not be making fun of a 7 year old. I really liked Madison too. She has been one of my favorites since the beginning. So it is upsetting me to see her do that. She made fun of Asia and Brianna. NOT OKAY!!! I will never support a mean girl. Keep your trap shut and smile and clap for everyone. It’s not hard.

Hot damn Brianna is TALENTED. And her mom is normal, too. So that’s a bonus. When they said “African” dance, though, I thought it would be more high-energy, with a lot of drums and stuff. Also, what the hell is a “French” dance?

I think Madison is a great dancer, but she and especially her mom are becoming more and more unpleasant. Coreen got put on my black list when she yelled at Kelly “Are you retarded?” (I’m one of those people that holds the r-word in the same regard as the n-word).

OK, call me crazy, I don’t think Asia deserves to, but my hunch is that she is going to win the whole thing!

She does not deserve to win the whole thing for sure. Brianna does. But she is not as awful as a lot of people make her out to be either. She is super talented and she is taking critiques. I think they kept her around also long enough so that when they bring the other dancers back there could be a big confrontation between Christie and Yvette.
