Tyras Vision of Beauty:
THE GOOD:
Darian soft and lovely
This looks makes Leila’s pictures even more of a threat.
THE BAD:
Laura fell in a bleach bucket and looks sickly with orange skin.
Kristin looks like the cute girl of an ’80′s sitcom.
There are no words. Britt’s exotic eyes are diminished, while a
giant chin and terrible complexion are brought to the forefront.
THE COMPLETELY UNCHANGED:
Not sure what Destiny was so upset about.
How much do you think Christoph charged to straighten Kiara’s
hair and shave a part of her eyebrows?
Allyssa was just too cool to modify.
Yvonne is radically different.
Hair fluffing: Nastasia gets the newest thing
in high fashion make-overs.
After the girls get beautified, we are treated to an appearance by P’Trique.
I adore how she accessorizes her beard.
Isn’t it ironic that on the college edition, Tyra’s clues about the upcoming photo shoot are so transparent that our girls know immediately that they will be getting naked? Not only has she seemingly dumbed down the Trya Mail, but we get these Sesame Street flashes of key words to help us in our quest to find out what brilliance she is plotting for the girls. She’s a clever one, that Tyra.
I am also surprised to see that no one seems to be making a big deal of the fact that they will get naked. Why isn’t Victoria hooting and hollering that this goes against her full blooded Cherokee, Jewish, Christian values?
Oh, right. She’ll be covered in armor.
That evening, the girls are starting to get their catty on. Some girls think Maria should go home, since she acts so aloof and refused to get the make-over. No one mentions that about Victoria, though. Then a whole show down of blustering and meowing occurs when Kiara sends a message to Darian to be quiet after midnight. It gets ridiculous and no one is the victor so let’s move on.
If you like it, spread it!:

Once again, bullshit on Victoria and her posturing. I don’t care if she gets naked but NO one that has been homeschooled and raised conservatively is that comfortable getting naked in front of a bunch of people including men and TV cameras if this is their first rodeo. She looked like a girl who spends time in strip club dressing rooms. And her makeover was bs too. The big change was basically to not straighten her hair, which now that she knows that she is doing and voila! she has an instant makeover just like Tyra wanted. Right. The whole thing is so fake. And then she wins!! What a shock! I would never have seen that one coming.
I think Tyra picked Maria because she didn’t want it and would not be any competition from the Harvard faction. No one can compare to Tyra! Tyra is the exemplary Harvard girl! Maria needs to suck and then go home and Tyra wins! Also, I think Tyra is totally screwing with these ‘college’ girls because she can and they will let her and again, Tyra wins! Tyra didn’t need no stinking college! She has her shiny new extension certificate and so she OWNS their asses now. Tyra wins!!!
And by the way, and with all due respect to anyone for whom an honest Native American background is true, I have been amazed for decades now how many white people who claim a Native American ancestry are magically all Cherokee! Or Lakota. I have never once heard anyone claim Hopi or Nez Pierce. Everyone is Cherokee, with some Lakota thrown in if you are really cool. Right. So now Victoria claims a ‘Cherokee’ heritage. Cherokee and Lakota have been the ‘cool’ tribes to hail from since the sixties. It’s weird but it’s true. Please don’t attack the messenger I simply report the stupid I don’t make it up.
So one more ‘I claim BS’ card for Victoria. Show me proof Vic, then we can talk, ‘k?
Last week was the stripper challenge, this week was the soft porn challenge. Tyra is really screwing with these girls. And each week we are going to be treated to a still of Tyra posing with young Rob in some alluring way? I hate to be a hater, but does anyone else think that she has hired him because she is getting more than a free model? Just me?
The poses were ridiculous and awkward and not beautiful or editorial (what exactly were they supposed to be modeling anyway? The whole thing was bizarre for no discernable reason I could see). Kiara’s straddling the tree picture made no sense and was apparently intended to make her look like she was either screwing it or peeing or something while Rob held her hands on the other side….? Sigh. I can imagine Jay Manuel sitting at home eating popcorn while watching this crap and laughing and laughing…
I still don’t get the P’Trique love. The guy is stupider than Bryanboy and that is a hard contest to win. Social media, especially the videos, is horrible. There is no one making a video to air on this crapfest who isn’t just trying to famewhore themselves onto TV. Why should what someone like that have any input into who is a good model?
Victoria and her fakery can go home any time but she won’t. She’s too good for TV. And a fake plant there for the headshots and interest only and no threat to St. Tyra. So we’re stuck with her I’m afraid.
I wonder what humiliation Tyra will find for our ‘college’ girls next week? Fake sex in bathtub shots?
Great recap Luscious. You are making this season do able only because there will be a great recap after the hour of suck-fest each week.
I agree, Kelly was awesome in her scolding of Harvard. The best part she wasn’t even being as bitchy as she could have been, she was just stating the facts. Also, that was the least amount of time and/or attention ever given to a girl that has decided to leave. They didn’t even mention it at panel. Once she was gone, it was like she never existed.
Laura looks awful, why do they always bleach the eyebrows? They just fill them in with make-up at the photo shoots.
Kristin’s after photo looks like Kirsten Dunst back in the day.
Why did they give Britt copper hair. It is the color that a box-red head fades into after swimming in a pool a lot (I can say this from personal experience).
Destiny’s hair was fine, it was the fact that she does not know how to style her own hair. Why do you think she is wearing a hat all the time. She could have rocked that hair at panel if she had either straightened it or help defined the curl. Oh, is that silver thing by her eye a piercing?
I wonder what make-over they gave to the girl they “kicked off” last week. They had to change her somehow so it wouldn’t be obvious online. Yes, I am too lazy to look it up.
There was something wonky about all the girls photos. Why were they all up the nose shots? It was hard to recognize a bunch of them.
@andyourlittledogtoo – don’t forget Navajo. That is a ‘trendy’ tribe to toss around.
I don’t think Victoria is conservative, more like her mother has kept her locked in the attic. She made a good point though, “I’m a bitch, no I’m a bigger bitch” is not an argument that college girls should be having.
I repeat my comments from the mini cap and add to them.
At least we know why Tyra hired Rob now, with him there she no longer has to hire male models.
I felt bad for Rob during Nastasia’s shoot it’s a good thing guys have quick reflexes when it comes to protecting their junk. I wonder if he gets paid extra for photo shoots, and I wonder if Nigel got paid extra for them.
I do agree with Tyra about how ridiculous it is that the girls complain about make overs each year. Models are walking mannequins and nothing more. Do they really think designers are going to care about what they want? There’s a reason models are said to have terrible and damage hair.
I loved what Kelly said to Maria. For somebody so mature she was really whiny and childish. Somebody from Harvard should no that hair grows back.
@andyourlittledogtoo I think they said they were going to dye Victoria’s hair red and curl it. And I understand I how you feel about the Native American thing. I have Native American background and I never want to mention because I feel like people would give me the side eye. I’m just happy that I’m black and my Native American ancestry is Creek so that when it does come up, I don’t get too much of a side eye.
Funny, I’ve never heard anybody fake claim Navajo. I’m sure someone has I’ve just never heard it. Now Creek, yeah I wouldn’t even side eye Creek. I think if you claim Creek you’re probably Creek. It’s just the whole romanticization of Cherokee and Lakota Sioux (no one ever fake claims any other Sioux, just Lakota) from the sixties and seventies that prompted so many ‘my ancestry’ poseurs out there. Some younger people may actually believe it because their sixties poseur parents told the lie and it never occurred to them to look into it themselves. Seriously though, there were less actual Cherokees than white people who now claim to be Cherokee today.
See, if Victoria really was just a sheltered girl who wants nothing more than to crawl back inside her mama would she do what she’s doing right now? Would she strip naked in front of millions and sit there unconcerned and blase about it all? No, she would not. You don’t have to be conservative to be tentative about doing that. She looked like a stripper taking a break in the dressing room.
Yeah, her hair was supposed to be ‘dyed red’ but at panel I swear I saw a red shimmer to her brown hair already under those lights. Makeover – schmakeover, Tyra wasn’t changing much if anything about Victoria except having her not flat iron her hair.
I’ve always loved Kelly Cutrone. I couldn’t believe how reserved she was being with Miss Maria Harvard. Lagerfeld! Hah!
Great recap Luscious. I tuned in this week because of the makeovers and to see how fake Victoria gets. I am quite embarrassed about it, though. Damn you Tyra Banks!!
@ andyourlittledogtoo-
Feel free to fact check me, but Cherokee was historically the largest Indian nation, and today they’re about tied with Navajo. In addition, Cherokee culture traditionally had less stigma against “out-marrying” than other nations (which is why many African-Americans as well as whites can claim Cherokee ancestry, as they accepted escaped slaves and freedmen into their society.) So while I agree with you that claiming Indian blood is trendy now, many of these people may indeed be telling the truth. There was a LOT of intermixing back in the day that doesn’t show up in official census data, but is extremely common in first-person historical narratives. But you need to prove 1/8 ancestry to have a legitimate claim though, and I doubt many of them could do that so it’s a bit silly to say “I’m part Cherokee” when you don’t even know which part or which ancestor(s).
And about the show – it has NEVER been a legitimate avenue for pursuing a modeling career, and it has LONG stopped even being a good reality show. It’s only an arena for Tyra to crush the self-esteem of younger, prettier women in order to feed her massive bloated ego. And that’s still kind of entertaining after all these years.
Yeah well live through the sixties and seventies when Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and that whole movement was big and EVERYone you met claimed heritage, always Cherokee or Lakota Sioux. Some were, most weren’t. So folks get the side eye unless they really do know who the hell they were related to, from me anyway. And since I already think the Vicster is full of the dog poo, she gets the big side eye from me on spec for that statement.
Yeah, Tyra pretty much uses this show to mess with young pretty (sometimes) girls and prove to the world how much better she is than all these other wannabes. But this season I think she’s ramped it up full throttle.
And I know Rob is physically very fine, but his smug assy demeanor totally ruins it for me. I don’t know why women fall for that in a man, you may as well hit him with the ugly stick as far as that is concerned in my opinion. He may be a very nice man, I have no idea. But he comes off like a….well, he comes off badly.
Is it weird that Victoria grew on me a bit this episode?
Her recap of She-Ra and Darian’s argument had me howling, just because it really did emphasize the stupidity of that whole situation. And I did admire her for realizing what a mistake she made and apologizing for not being more open-minded. I’m sure it’s hard to admit when you’re wrong (I wouldn’t know, because I’m never wrong) and that was big of her to do.
Her conversation with her mom was ridiculous yet again though…if her mom told her that she didn’t want her to keep going, what would she have done? Quit?
And I don’t think her planned makeover was bullshit…when Tyra says red, she isn’t talking just a hint. I was thinking Victoria would have ended up on the redder side of auburn. Her hair looks very brown and mousy to me the way it is…a warm shade of auburn would have actually done alot for her complexion and eyes. And I believe her about her heritage. I think you can see it all over her face.
@andyourlittledogtoo, why do you hate Victoria so much anyway LOL.
Tyra is definitely banging Rob. Or she banged him before. I do think that he can give good advice to the girls, being in the industry and closer to their age than any of the other judges, but he’s mostly here because Tyra wanted to give her boytoy sugar baby a job. And keep him close so he wouldn’t be able to see other chicks. I see you Tyra.
Also, definite conflict of interest there, rubbing your bare tiddays and making sex faces all over someone who is going to judge you the next day.
I agree with Allyssssaaaaa that the only sad thing about Maria going home early was that we missed seeing Kelly eviscerate her at panel. She was holding back in the salon…maybe she didn’t pregame that day with her normal glass of baby’s blood and tears. Didn’t know she was gonna have to cut a bitch. But panel would have been so so good.
And I’m happy that Darian went. She wasn’t that cute and was pretty annoying. Plus, I didn’t like her makeover. Tyra should have given her a lacefront instead of the weave, because her edges are too thin for it to look realistic.
But thanks for yet another great recap, Luscious. You’re a real ass bitch.
I finally watched last night because I missed the original airing and the CW website kept crashing on my poor laptop.
Like I said, no actual college student is watching this on the original airdate unless they’re sick in bed or on their monthly. Seriously. 8:00 on a Friday, Tyra? For the college edition? Bad move. Silly Ty-Ty, that’s party time! (Not that *I* party; in fact, I was at a magic show on that day at that time.)
I still gotta root for Leila (although she’s not actually from RI, as Wikipedia tells me, she still goes to school there and is thus representing my Ocean State). I do like Nastasia’s hair, though.
Adios, Maria, and may we never have to see you again!
I just have to say Tyra has no say whatsoever on when her show airs. She could cry, get angry, throw a hissy fit or threaten to walk off and it wouldn’t matter. That’s a network decision. So the head honchos at CW, based on ratings decided where to move ANTM. Being moved to Friday night is usually the kiss of death for a tv show and is only done because the ratings are already very low or are not hitting their key demographics very well. I’m sure Tyra is praying that this season’s ratings pick up so CW will move her back to Wednesday night (her former glory days) but this season seems like such a train wreck that I don’t think that will happen. I feel like she’ll get stuck on Friday nights for a few more seasons before eventually being cancelled.
A few more? God no Melli this show is well past it’s prime. I saw Carrie in an ad for some odd drug on Hulu. That is the tops of the modeling world right there.
Still waiting for Tyra to mention the too much makeup on these girls.
Victoria – total liar unless they cut all the complaining out so as not to bias social media.
Question – did anyone know this was going on online and participate?
I have much to say about this episode, but before I get to that:
Remember Jael from Cycle 8? Yeah . . .
http://gawker.com/5942348/americas-next-top-model-alum-is-now-the-face-of-meth?utm_campaign=socialflow_gawker_twitter&utm_source=gawker_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
Poor Jael . . .
Okay. So I love Nastasia because she reminds me of Nik Pace from Cycle 5 (and Nik should have won. Nicole sucked/sucks). And like Nik, she’s classy and stays out of the drama (for the most part).
They’re totally grooming Leila for the top 2. She just looks like the kind of girl who always goes far in the competition (like Chelsea), but may not end up winning.
I want to hate Victoria, but I just can’t. She provides so much needed humor (her “workout” in the backyard? Hilar.) and even though she has a really unhealthy beyond co-dependent relationship with her mother, and even though she overthinks everything (I think she’s seen every Cycle of ANTM and desperately wants to play the game), and even though she’s hyper-emotional, I just can’t hate her. Probably because I know she has honest intentions. BUT. She attends Jerry Falwell’s university and her mom uses the phrase “armor of God.” The girl’s GOT to be conservative. But if she is, she’s keeping her opinions to herself, at least. Or, they’re saving all that footage for a montage of Victoria being a conservative whack-a-doo for the recap episode.
Also, Rob’s a Grade-A Douche and Johnny Wujek is hot and nice, but he’s no Jay Manuel. He doesn’t offer anything constructive or helpful. He reminds me of that Gerry idiot they had during cycle 4 of Britain’s Next Top Model. He was useless. The host even called Gerry out on his uselessness in panel. And don’t get me started on Bryanboy. What’s the point? He just stands there and reads things other people have posted online . . . This cycle is infuriating. There are just way too many changes.
I hope next cycle is a “fiercely real” cycle. I can’t believe Tyra hasn’t done that yet. And Kelly seems to be way more open to “fiercely real” models than, say, Janice or Nole with his stupid dog on a pillow.
Also, are the girls who get eliminated and get to participate in the photo shoot also going overseas? Because that’s a lot of plane tickets for girls who are just there to shoot photos. Or are they not going overseas this cycle? That’d be a bummer. I always love the whole “You’re all going to some fabulous place! Except one of you won’t be because you’ll be eliminated” thing.
Oh snap, I just found a site with all of the photos for all of the the photo shoots for this season. As in ALL of the photos, including those that have been voted off. I think it would be interesting to see the photos of those voted off (like Jessie this episode). Jessie’s photo looks like she was photo shopped into the picture with Rob, it is very funny.
Here is the link – unfortunately, it is just one big photo-slideshow and you can’t skip forward. Obviously – MAJOR SPOILERS (well, at least with what the photo shoots will be). Next week is just as disturbing as the dead stuffed head, if not more. And yes, they ALL go overseas. Again – if you click this link and flip through the photos -SPOILERS (http://www.buddytv.com/slideshows/americas-next-top-model/americas-next-top-model-college-edition-see-all-the-photos-of-cycle-19-seriously-99187.aspx). You have been warned.
Hypnotoad – Jamaica in the middle of the summer.
Carol – I thought Tyra said Darian would be in the next 6 photo shoots. Did I make that part up as she is in all of those photos?
Thanks for the link. Fun to play guess which ones are photo-shopped.
I challenge anyone to look at those pictures and tell me that Tyra doesn’t hate those girls and is seriously screwing with them. Photo shoot after photo shoot it’s all about humiliation and disturbing. And the fourth photo shoot they all look photoshopped to me. Meanwhile, the pictures of Tyra posing on the site are all beautiful and glamorous and dare I say it, ‘fierce’.
Tyra is totally screwing with the ‘college’ season girls. (I especially like all the ones where she has them posing next to or sitting on toilets! Or in trash bins. Very chic!)
Okay, I just went through all of the photos with a pen and paper. There are a total of 11 photo shoots there. Each girl has a photo in each photo shoot (with the exception of Maria because she walked away). Okay, so 11 shoots, 13 girls started, we have done two shoots so far and are down to 10 girls. That is one girl every week. That is not including the girl that is going to be voted back in. There are going to have to be some double eliminations or two photo shoots for one panel. If Maria hadn’t walked away, there would be three for the final, not counting the girl they bring back.
Most of them seem totally photo shopped, especially the ‘pink sea’ shoot. The themes of some of the shoots are disturbing, sort of like they are going back to the 90′s heroin look.
If you do flip through all the photos, the river boat shoot sort of gives away who is going to be still around at that point, since only half of the photos have been retouched and are in focus.
I will give credit where it is due and say that Victoria is rocking the photo shoots. I have no clue if she stays, all the girls are in all the photos.
I didn’t check out the link because I don’t want to be spoiled. Yea I know. But Tyra doesn’t come up with creative for the photo shoots. That’s Jonny Wujek’s job. Which he is totally sucking at. I agree with whoever said that Jay Manuel is sitting at home watching this crap and laughing. I’m sure he has a stitch in his side from laughing so hard.
Carol look at the hands of the models in that river them and you can tell the photo-shopping. There is a really bad photo-shop of one of the girls so I know she must be gone between now and then. Wonder which week she gets booted.
Since we know Darian is gone, look at her photos to see the details of the shop.
Yes the perfume shot look at the reflections or lack there of.
labowner, I had no idea, and I still have yet to look. Usually you have to give them all your facebook blah blah, and I hate when all that ends up on my page.
I’ll miss Darian’s name, heh . . . Maria I won’t miss, she was as blank as Jessie.
I’m glad Victoria is on the show, makes it more entertaining, and I’m enjoying all the hubbub here too!
Great cap Lush!
You can choose to hide the posts from the facebook page though so it doesn’t show up on your own page and clutter stuff up. I’ve had to do that with quite a few sites I wanted to visit but didn’t want living on my own page.
WHY has Tyra stopped washing her hair? She seriously looks like she just got back from an aerobics class every time she’s on screen!
Here is an interesting article about Jael from Season 8, if you guys are interested. I had always believed she was already the face of meth, but whatevs.
http://gawker.com/5942348/americas-next-top-model-alum-is-now-the-face-of-meth
Tyra won’t do anything. She provided a wonderful platform for girls to have a chance at their dream, but, after there is no “Tyra Mail”. I had to guide myself, and even though I won a model competition I still had no idea what the modeling BUSINESS was like. I had no idea what the industry was really like. I was famous, but no one wanted to take my picture. And critics and industry love to give us all shit for not being the next big supermodel. We all have done well, and we all had to do it on our own. I am not complaining, I am simply defending. I love love what I have made for myself since my win, but mentally, its horrific. And any girl who has been on ANTM can back me up. No one wants to take us serious as models. I am sure the show lost its credibility in producing a top model somewhere btwn making 3 cycles a year and posing on roller coasters. Tyra wasn’t there when the cameras stopped rolling, nor did she reach out. I got reached out by her “camp” asking if I would do a “All Star” cycle… I said “Whats the prize? Because last time the only thing I didn’t win was being taken seriously as a top model…” ( I declined after no consideration) The only person that has reached out to me directly is Nigel Barker. He even hired me.
Now this isn’t Tyra’s fault.. we are all capable of becoming anything… I am saying it would have been a good call to have some after show support…
When it boils down to it, there is just not a place for ANTM girls to fit post show. We just needed some guidance.. Are we “Reality Star” ? (ARRRGG I feel deeply that I have contributed more, and have more to offer professionally in The Arts than someone being taped from the shore of Jersey) I truly did the show because I am a model…. and a damn good one given the shot.. (pun intended)
I can’t say what made Jael though.
The fashion industry had NO idea how to market us. Our agents, our managers….. because we become a instant celeb…. but had a protforlio of a rookie model. Even though we just were named “TOP” our place in line at Fashion World was at the bottom. The industry many times didn’t care about our name, but did turn a snobby cheek to the name ANTM.
It’s not a curse, not even close. I chose to be on the show, and so did all the girls before me and after me like Jael. I do not regret anything I am so thankful I followed through with my decision to take that track to my dreams. Am I at the top? Yes.. and for anyone who can’t see this, look up instead of looking down at me, at us.
I am again only defending and providing insight.
I have had many wonderful clients. I love my work. I feel accomplished, and I have turned the business of “CariDee” into one I am proud of and love. I love to inspire people out there to go after what they want, let nothing hold them back.
Now, do I feel like a respected model on the other hand…
Poor girl. Having problems and then getting a hint of fame only make an addiction rise. They should have evaluated her a lot more before letting her on the show. All they saw was a personality good for television. Well, this hopefully will save at least her life and someone watching. Everything happens for a reason.
Not to worry, non of us make it out alive.
But heres to making it
CD
Hmm, I posted my message in between jobs last night, and a million comments were ahead of me. I do photoshop, so I’m gonna go get spoiled. I’m assuming by photoshopped, you mean stripped in, like shot on a green screen and added to the backround. They always photoshop the grrrls to look their best, it’s one of the reasons I watch the show is to see that work . . .
I’ll be back!
@hypnotoad, I didn’t even see your post above when I posted mine. I kind of always thought Jael was a mess, but she must be extremely fucked up if she’s bypassing Dr. Drew and going straight for some of Dr. Phil’s homespun “tough love.”
I wonder if Tyra was walking in a show and the designer decided he wanted her to shave her head, would she do it? I have to say No way in Hell would she do it. If she had, she’d be name dropping and going on and on about how she shaved her head bald in the name of fashion.
OMG. @chaos butterfly I was starting to think I was the only one that thought Rob participating in a (naked!) photo shoot with the girls was COMPLETELY inappropriate. He’s their judge and in a sense a mentor. Not only is there a conflict if interest, but how disgustingly creepy is that? The dude with so much “power” who also sits at the judges table had the tits and ass of the girls he’s judging in his face, slung over him like a backpack, smooshed into his almost naked body! Wrong on so many levels. Nigel may have photographed the girls naked, but he damn skippy didn’t strip on down and get naked WITH them. They should have used a different model. I’ll climb off my soapbox now
@labowner: Yes! The makeup is almost as bad as the first cycle…with less glittery lip gloss lol. Kristin (I think that’s her name) looked like a seven year old had applied her eyeliner.
I’m with those who have said Victoria is growing on them. She’s an odd duck but makes some fine observations. Still rooting for Leila, though! Oh, and for a ‘fiercely real’ cycle!
@featherhead, there is a bald shot of Tyra from yesteryear . . . I remember seeing it once on the show.
@CD, I love it when people like you check in here!!! You should check out the caps in archives of your cycle, I seem to recall mostly positive comments about you!!! I know I was a huge fan of your work and humor, and I even liked your “pole” comment . . heh . . . best of luck with your future, and I’d be happy to photoshop you if you’re looking for help. I’ve been in the industry 14 years-just send me a note here with your FB or something. And by photoshop, I prefer to work with contrast and improving lighting, not repainting skin entirely. I’ve mostly done “for your consideration” work for movies with raw stills from the films. I have some samples too.
and @ the photoshop controversy . . . looks to me like the usual work on the shots. They’re pretty low res, so there is some distortion on the edges. Keep in mind, they may be smoothing the lines of body profiles, and thinning in some spots. Don’t know how they did the pink water shoot, but I suspect the coloring is post photo, so all of those would be subject to edging.
There is one of Jessie in a transparently trained dress. I can assure you it would be really hard to blend such a shot from a green screen, but it can be done. Seems it would be easier to just shoot all the girls each time, than to strip in the losing girls.
Over all, I liked most of the shoots. The one’s with male models don’t seem as strong, IMHO. Allyssa, Natasha, Victoria, Laura and especially Leila look terrific throughout. Even Jessie and Destiny had some moments. Just know, I love the final products here. Oddly, I thought Tyra did the best job with getting good angles and poses. Did it take that long for her to step up to coaching them?
@CD, I friggin loved you on your season! Glad to see you stop by here, and even though the road is hard, I’m glad you’re still working and fighting through all the madness.
@CD: Thanks for stopping by and answering some questions I’ve always had about life post-ANTM. I just recall thinking it was bs when the “cover” of Seventeen turned out to be the BACK, really, in a “flip around” publication. Ironically just a week ago I saw you in the Gossip Girl episode you were in on the Style network. I hope you have a fabulous life
@Baird: I was thinking the same exact thing about Tyra’s hair. What’s up with that?!
Juddfan look at Jessie’s right hand in the river photo shot. Bad photo-shop. Look at Darian’s left hand from same shoot. Not connected to the picture. It almost looks like she is going for his crotch. That shot looks like it was done in Jamaica not the LA area, but I haven’t been everywhere so it might be here.
Doesn’t Tyra wear wigs and extensions so why would she care about cutting her hair?
Glad to see we have ourselves on google alerts.
Stop the car and back. That. Effer. Up. — Did CariDee just post on here? Because if so, that was some pretty awesome insight and introspection. It was neither “woe is me” nor “you’re all just jealous.” (And Cycle 7 was awesome — full of talented girls.) And spot on comments regarding the “3 cycles a year” and “roller coaster photos.” And it’s interesting that winners were approached for an All-Star Cycle. I wonder if Tyra planned to do one with some of the past winners? Anyway, CariDee, if that was really your post, bravo, man. Bravo for saying what you did.
I’ve always been curious about the winners of the cycles and how seriously they’ve been taken by the modeling world. I know that Brittani (Cycle 16) isn’t modeling anymore and has moved back to PA. Sometimes it seems like the girls who don’t win are more often in the spotlight . . . but never for modeling.
A part of me feels guilty, I suppose — I don’t watch this show wanting to find out who will have the longest modeling career, or who’s going to make it. I watch it for the drama of the competition, for the entertainment of reality TV, forgetting that for some of these girls, modeling really is their dream. And in retrospect, it’s a shame that some of them didn’t become a Karlie Kloss or a Joan Smalls, because they really could/can model.
In recent years, Tyra has rarely shown up on screen with the girls. And in three episodes, I think I’ve seen her with the girls more times than the entire last cycle. I don’t know what’s up with that.
That said, this cycle is complete and total evidence that ANTM is wholly 100% not about modeling anymore. And I don’t even think the producers and the network care too much about hiding that fact.
As awesome as it would be to have CariDee actually writing us gasmii personally, the comment from her is actually from an article about Jael’s meth addiction.
But we can hope it was she who cut and pasted!

DUUUUUUUUPED! (Sort of.) (Mostly.)
Stuck at home with food poisoning so doing useless stuff on the web and finding random facts.
Did you know Michelle Deighton from one of the cycles is married to Jonny Fairplay from Survivor: Pearl Island, they have a daughter named Piper.
Here’s a quote from Jenah Doucette- “ANTM did little to prepare me for modeling. Real-life, naked in a room full of strangers, ‘come back when you lose 20 lbs’ modeling. Maybe that makes me weak. I don’t think it does… Never do I want to live a life in which I’m concerned about being a size four. Ever.”
I don’t watch Survivor, but is Jonny Faairplay annoying? His pictures on google look like he would be extremely annoying. If he is, then good because Michelle was also annoying as hell. She and her flesh eating bacteria face.
And it’s kind hard to believe that someone wanted Jenah to lose 20 pounds. I’m pretty sure she would have to remove a couple of bones to achieve that.
Good for her for walking away.
Chaos that would piss me off to no end considering a lot of the behind the scenes folks in fashion are 1; butt-ugly and 2; usually over weight themselves.
@chaos – jonny fairplay is known as the player who lied during the loved one visit. In Survivor, they bring out the loved ones one at a time, and when Jonny’s best friend came out, the friend came up to Jonny and told him his grandmother had died. Everyone broke down crying, including all the other players. It turns out that it was a plan between Jonny and his friend that if the friend were ever called and flown out to Panana, he would tell this lie. This lie helped carry Jonny further in the game. Also, the producers of the show immediately called Jonny’s family to give their condolences, and were a little surprised when Jonny’s grandmother answered the phone. Also, when he went back to Survivor to play on another season, he actually asked his tribe to vote him out first because he wanted to go home. Jeff Probst hates Jonny, to the point that Jeff will not go to/appear at an event where Jonny is.
Carol now divorced and rammed his grandma’s car during a domestic dispute. Angela just had a baby boy.
i think these reviews are hilarious! i’m not a biig fan of the show but i do watch it and can’t help but wtf & laugh at that shit Tyra comes up with, she’s really gone wacko this season. Whats the fun in telling the contentestants they will be allowed to return? it would be MUCH more interesting to have keep it a secrete for the final 3. i’m sorry but i’m a fan of the male model judge he is fiine!! lol but i am SOO not a fan of the new Photoshoot Dierector, he doesn’t help the girls at all, he is SUCH an amateur. Jay Manuel was the only one she actually could have kept!!! he is really good at directing and had such insight. he knew what worked to help the girls and he was Gorgeous. lol Tyra is so annoying but she has me watching every season. You all forget, Tyra is friends with Beyonce. she has an ago and is very private . Top model is Her act. Tyra is actually cold. Everyone knows this, past judges have admitted.
@carol, thank you for that very enlightening rundown.
It’s always nice when people look like what they are. Saves everyone time and energy.
Man, tonight’s show really was really edited for the loser sheesh!
Is it weird that I didn’t even notice Brittnay’s piggy nose until after the makeover?
Michelle (fairplay’s wife) was on the most recent season of tough enough the wwe competition shoe
