Where do I start with the second episode of our all new, totes fresh cycle? There’s so much to talk about, I’m not sure I’ll be able to sum everything up in an organized manner. So allow me to apologize right now for a recap that may just be all over the map. This sh*t was cray cray, so please forgives, umkay?
My fabulous Friday night began with a serious headache. For some reason, Tyra has decided that the opening segment of the show should involve a lot of bright flashes of light. I think they are supposed to mimic flashbulbs going off and give us a feel of high energy, but instead I felt sick and nauseous.
Seriously, if I were an epileptic, this opener would have totally set me off.
I wish I could convey the quick cuts and blinding white outs that was Tyra’s hip, new opener, but there is no way to illustrate how disorienting and painful it was. Since this bit explains all about how the models are scored and how the fourth judge works, I’m guessing it will be the start of every episode. But, I totes hope not.
The show finally gets down to business and we pick up with our lucky 13 girls hanging out in one small area of their house, all talking excitedly with each other. As they pretend they all meant to squeeze themselves close together on two couches instead of roaming their big bad fabulous house, Tyra arrives. Despite being the college edition, this is once again a shock to them.
Tyra welcomes the girls and then tells them there are serious new rules this year. She goes on to explain that their challenges will be graded, the judges will grade them and so will she. “So it’s not just qualitative, it’s quantitative. We’re talking about numbers here.”
Totes snags comes on to tell us she loves the new clear as day concept. You’re either in or out based on your score.
Tyra then takes the girls on a tour of the house to show them the Tyra Suite. This season, there is a secret room that only a select few will get to use. It’s a separate suite with a huge bed and a closet full of clothes and shoes that the winner of each challenge gets to enjoy to their hearts delight… for that week. The next week, some other skank could be sleeping in those sheets, so if I was these girls, I would seriously only want the room week 1.
