ANTM Recap: Does my hate of Brianboy require an intervention?

Anyway, the reason we know Bryanboy did this is because Brittnay heard and saw his reaction to Leila being canned and now she can’t get past it.

If the mean girl is zeroing in on your behavior,
Buttheadboy, it’s probably not appropriate.

Yvonne also noticed during panel that Bryanboy’s behavior was rude to Brittnay. She says it pissed her off.

Suddenly the walls begin to drip, as the delusional
sugar coating of our show starts to melt.

Kristin is thrilled that Leila went home. She tells us in confessional that she is relieved not to have to worry about such a big competitor unless Leila wins the redemption contest. Personally, I think Kristin has a very dangerous relationship with food.

She can’t even finish confessional before spooning in more.

That night, Yvonne tells us that she’s getting tired of the long days and the constant go, go, go of the competition. She realizes that they aren’t seen as people, they are simply a product and she’s over the intensity.

This ain’t no castle on a cloud.

It’s the next morning and while all the other girls are sleeping, Victoria is up exercising. She’s worried about her place in the competition. It sounds like Leila being sent home has really rocked her confidence. I started noticing how skinny she was a few episodes ago, but now I’m really worried about her. Could this girl be anorexic?

Remember, the camera adds ten pounds.

Also, check out the walls in the room she’s working out in. Looks like a well-stocked library, right?

Ah, the joys of low budget set dec.

For some reason, all the girls think Leila went home because of a poor challenge score. I would argue her low score didn’t help, but she didn’t have the worst challenge score of the week. It was Kelly’s intentional tank score that sent her home. And it occurred to me the other day that they ousted Leila without her getting any scholarship “money” in her bank. Now she has no chance to win money – maybe they think she’ll be the winner of the competition and this was their way of avoiding the actual payout.

So the girls head off to their next challenge and arrive at Culver Studios where they walk onto a bare bones sound stage.

Waiting for them is our very own walking boulder, Rob Evans and a woman Rob introduces as “Super model Chrissy Tiegen”. We watch them as video game characters on a screen, while they hide behind a wall and explain that the girls will be doing a scene from the new video game Uncharted 3. Chrissy tries to tie this all in to America’s Next Top Model by saying they will be using every tool in their modeling chest.

But Chrissy, none of these girls has a chest.

The guest supermodel (who should never speak with that wispy voice that sounds like she’s swallowing every word) goes on to explain they will be drawing upon their lessons on movement, gestures and posing. Um… aren’t they all pretty much the same thing?

Supermodel ≠ superbrain.

That’s probably not fair to Chrissy. I’m sure this wasn’t her idea. Maybe she was just trying her best to create a link between our competition about modeling and today’s motion capture challenge. Still she loses intellect points for being Tyra’s friend or having done something that Tyra could hold over her head until she cooperated.

The girls suit up in the motion capture suits and a stuntman goes over the marks they have to hit during their scene. Robrock tells them whoever wins will get their very own signature “torn” which will be featured in Uncharted 3. His speech is so garbled, I swear he said torn. But he means taunt, a command where you can make your character do a little dance to taunt the enemy.

    “America’s Next Top Parkour” lol!!!!

The judges are obsessed with Laura, but she really rubs me the wrong way.

How come she got to pose standing up, while others (Piggy Nose) were sitting? Of course standing is going to enlongate you, and make the clothes look better! Do the models get a choice? Or is it ordered down from Tyra herself if you get to stand or sit? I don’t recall Brit standing in even just one or two of her frames. I might be mistaken, so correct me if I’m wrong!

i would have mentioned “im a model, i’m paid to model, snap my picture Mr devil.” haha cause seriously i’v seen this show and i would listen to the photographer to an extent, cause in the end of the day its up to you to break out an idea. Also i loved loved loved Yyvone in this episode for being the only bitch on this show in cycles to say it like it is! haha also “Frankly I can’t figure out what the point of the owl is in this photo.” The owl represents Secrete Societies. apparently after the apocalyptic zombie 666 photo shoot episode, a secrete society is behind Top Model, as much as this show is Ment to be entertainment, something else is being fed to us.

It doesn’t seem like Victoria has an eating disorder to me; she appears to just be pretty active and tall, buuut I haven’t been watching this season, which makes my opinion kind of null. LOL. I’ve enjoyed reading your recaps. I would’ve liked Laura’s picture more if it was in a brighter lighting; she looked stunning on the 6th page.

Based on next weeks previews you’re not the only one who thinks Victoria’s anorexic.

I just noticed there are no guest judges this season. I guess they don’t want anybody throwing off their scores.

This isn’t the only time they posed with a dangerous animal. How could Kristin be scared of an owl? They’re so cute. I love owls.

I agree about Victoria’s skinniness…I didn’t notice it too much at first so I’m not sure if it’s gotten more extreme or I just wasn’t paying attention before. Either way I was sitting there crossing my fingers that Yvonne would stay, because I hate when someone THAT unhealthy stays in the competition. It sets a bad example, no matter how many people have stopped watching the show.

Loved Yvonne calling out Bryanboy, he is definitely the most annoying thing about this new format (and there are a lot of annoying things).

My friend and I also noted that Rob laughs at literally everything Tyra says……he must have a very strange sense of humor, or just REALLY want to get laid each night after panel.

Ugh…I definitely share your hatred of Brianboy. I knew I’d hate him once I found out his stupid NAME. WTF kind of name is “Brianboy” anyway??

And Rob…gross. I don’t get his appeal. He has that smirk-y half smile that drives me nuts and he seems to be about as intelligent as one of the rocks in my driveway.

I know it’s bad when Kelly is the only judge I can stand anymore! I really miss crazy ass Janice.

I thank you so much for recapping this mess, b/c I seriously don’t think I could watch it this season. I’ve watched every season from the very beginning, but All-Stars was a mess and Tyra pissed me off getting rid of the Jays and Nigel (and Janice, and Twiggy, and Paulina….). I’d probably punch Brianboy through my television. That hat belongs to Miss Jay, not to you!

i realize that the show has been losing viewers and down in the ratings, so they decided to “re-vamp” the whole thing with a younger vibe, cooler mentors, and the whole social media dealio. but this truly SUCKS!!!! who doesn’t like nigel baker and jay alexander??? they were great, especially when you compare them to the new “cast”. come on, guys! this is an absolute embarassment. brianboy is purely awful, that male model (whatever his name is) is equally horrendous, and johhny, the stylist, seems to be a nice guy, he just doesn’t do it.

i’m sure they’re still making money looking incredibly stupid, but isn’t there something about going out gracefully. i hope this is the last season.

Tyra probably had Crappyboy show up to the photo shoot because the dude who replaced Jay has the skills and personality of a dish rag. This show was filmed months ago so Tyra had no idea how hated he was going to be but the fact that being around him she could not tell what a douche this dude is makes her out to be dumb. I like everyone miss the two Jays and Nigel they are not the reason the show has been sucking of late that all has to do with Tyra and the fact that alot of times her show was in competion with Idol in the ratings. This is going to be the last season of this show mark my words.

BrianBoy is aggravating. If this season finishes without him being slapped, it will be a sad thing. What is the point of him on the show? All of the ‘social media’ was done almost 6 months ago. They are using the votes, quotes and videos that were done back when this season was filming. Notice that the comments and such are only about the photos. There would be some harsh words about the girls lives in the house and on set if the ‘social media’ was actually live. What is actually shown is more edited than the show itself.

Has anyone heard of BrianBoy before this show? Will anyone care about him when this season is over? WTF is he wearing? That last question can be applied to any part of any of the episodes.

Did anyone else notice Kelly’s shoes at panel? Did she borrow them from BrianBoy?

I kind of love it when a capper here hates something so vehemently!!! Makes for better reading, so thanks, Luscious!

For those of you curious what brought the lovely and pursed lipped Bryanboy to us, here, From Wiki:

Bryanboy is the pen name of Bryan Grey Yambao, a 25-year-old Filipino fashion blogger. A former web developer, he started blogging at age 24 from his parents’ Manila home.[1] His eponymous blog, which attracts 5,000 visitors per day, won the 2007 Philippine Blog Award for Best Fashion & Lifestyle Blog. The New York Post named him one of the nine hottest internet celebrities, and news.com.au has called him “one of Fashion 2.0’s biggest superstars” and a “phenom in the fashion blogosphere”. His blog, called “hysterically camp” by the Sydney Morning Herald, is known for its “witty and often bitchy commentary.”

Yes, I have taken one for the team. I’ve not read his blog . . . that would be going too far.

Oddly, that little pursy lipped pic of him on the first page reminds me of face my brothers lover makes at me .. . . it’s not my imagination!!!

I agree that Victoria is too thin. I can’t tell if she’s anorexic or not . . . we’ll know more on Friday, I guess, but her face belongs on a curvier body, like Lea Michelle . . . she’s not rail thin, but looks proportionate and right! I still find her more entertaining than annoying. Frankly, I prefer woman with more athletic bodies like Kiara, and Cindy Crawford, I don’t know how “Heroin Chic” has become a trend . . . . even evolutionally, men are attracted to women they subconsciously see as fit, and good mother material (I know that just sounds so wrong, but I’m speaking of instincts etc, and quoting studies) Skinny to me does not portend health . . . I know people can be healthy and thin, but, they always look more frail to me . . . I definitely prefer my men with a healthy dose of heft!!! LOL!!!

I’m glad Yvonne stuck it to him, and stuck to her guns . . . unfortunately, I looked at that link and knew she was going this week, so it was less surprising. I guess they do think Laura is the shit . . . . we’ll see. Her body looks good from what I can see . . .

If Tyra really believed in “bigger sized girls” why didn’t she have a season devoted to them? She did shorties so why not what are considered chubby chicks in the fashion world, but totally normal sized to the rest of us season?

OFF with BrianBoy’s Puss-Faced head !!!!! What a colossal mistake the addition of him and Rob ! No molding of models, no possibility of a career ( like that really was a possibility ) and completely creating the death knell for this once entertaining franchise. Time for Tyra to start her own agency and HOPE that she is still relevant enough to get her stable of wannabe’s jobs.

Is Victoria skinner than the winner of Cycle 8, Jaslene?? Bc that girl seemed sick to me!

From the pics I’ve seen Alyssa is the only pretty girl, IMHO!

  23. 23
    Posted October 1, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Jaslene was SUPER skinny (and shouldn’t have won). And I love Ann, but there are electrons bigger than that girl’s waist (and Ann won the cycle that had an anorexic/bulimic girl that Tyra kicked off for looking un-healthy (Anna Maria)). Tyra always seems to “embrace” “fiercely real” models, but they’re just tokens. They never win. With the exception of Whitney, who — let’s be honest — pretty much only won so that Tyra could say, “Hey, look, a plus model won!” I like Whitney, I think she’s pretty and she seemed like fun in her cycle, but how many freaking times was she in the bottom two?

Is it just me, or do the girls this cycle seem WAY MORE stressed than the girls of other cycles? I agree with you, luscious — the fact that Leila was eliminated has really thrown these girls, and all that worrying about challenge, photo, and social media points is making for some VERY high tension.

This cycle is lackluster when it comes to the contestants. Laura, Brittany, and Kristin all seem like girls who would have been home by now in any other cycle. And Allyssa would have been the first one eliminated. She’s so completely not memorable. Just like Tyra kept forgetting about Nichole from Cycle 3, I keep forgetting about Allyssa. She’s just not memorable in any way, shape, or form, and Tyra’s kicked girls off for that many times throughout the years.

This cycle sucks, it just sucks, all of it, it just sucks. And I think Yvonne knows/knew it. And I liked her apology at the end of the ep. It was very, “Yeah, I’m sorry I said it, but I said it because the guy is a f**king douche and set me off.” Bryanboy is useless. Johnny Wujek is useless (the only way he’s NOT useless is when he’s in my apartment. Naked.). Rob whatever is useless. Everybody’s useless! Including Kelly, as was evidenced in last week’s episode.

All the eps from the latest cycle of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model (cycle 8) are on YouTube. I’m gonna find out if Elle MacPherson, Whitney Port, and Tyson Beckford are any better. (And who can judge U.K. talent better than an Australian and two Americans? Sheesh.) Something tells me it’s better than this piece of fetid poo.

@Jessi — I disagree. I loved the All-Star Cycle (17). The only things I hated were the fact that a.) Isis was kicked off way too early and b.) *SPOILER ALERT* (I guess) Lisa D’Amato won. Other than that, I loved it. I loved Shannon’s ridiculous selective morality; I loved Alexandria’s completely new and totally fake personality; I loved Angelea’s meltdown and smackdown in Greece; I loved how utterly embarrassing all that “pot ledom” music video nonsense was; and I loved Laura and Allison ever so much. It was a delicious cycle and the final runway was INSANE. Like, freaking banana nuts CRAZY.

Rebecca, if you check the comments on the last couple episodes, there’s two different links. The older one (not sure which episode) has all girls in all shoots . . . .I would recommend that one, as the later one (I think from two weeks ago) has spoilers–it is marked as such.

I think the better link also has one million comments about photoshopping etc. Good Luck!

I still hate BryanBoy and he’s still an insufferable twat, but in this case, I have to rule in his favor.
Yvonne was being a bitch on set, and it didn’t have anything to do with her outfit being tight. Clearly, she was over the whole thing. Over the shoot, over Tyra, over ANTM, over modeling in general…just over it. Someone had to call her out on it, because legitimately, people were working hard for her. Not BryanBoy, but people. Doing her makeup, doing her hair, figuring out her outfit, doing lighting, doing set stuff, messing with the camera…alot of work goes into a shoot. And they changed her skirt specifically because it didn’t look good on her. They were doing her ass a favor, changing it. So for her to be so…outwardly ungrateful about the whole experience is not appropriate, even if the whole shit is a farce.
Johnny is clearly a pushover baby, so I guess BryanBoy did what needed to be done. I can’t be mad at that, even though the messenger sucked.

Plus, that look BryanBoy gave Brittany at panel had me cracking up, because it was so apropos. In no way, shape or form would Brittany ever beat Leila in a modeling contest under normal circumstances. Never. Brittany should have indeed gone home and taken her menagerie of birds and deer and squirrels and other Disney animals with her.

And I have to give it to BryanBoy…to start blogging from his parents house and then ending up as a correspondent on ANTM?
Dude pulled himself up by the bootstraps.
    Or sandal straps.
It’s too hot in the Phillipines for boots.
And I might actually go check out his blog, but not until this cycle is over. He’s terrible, but honestly…who doesn’t love bitchy commentary? Isn’t that why we’re all here?

It hurts how badly Johnny sucks. Most of the shoot, he’s silent. When he speaks, his advice is “bring more intensity” or “look more fierce” or ” look taller”. What the fuck is that. If they knew how to do those things, they would be doing them, you useless fuck. And it doesn’t help that the challenges are fucking uselessss. I’m so sad right now. BRING BACK JAY MANUEL.

Remember those cycles when Tyra was actually trying to make it about fashion, and the girls got to meet Franca Sozzani, and had challenges that were actually legitimately connected to the fashion world? Remember when Alek Wek came to judge?! Those were the days.

I wonder if the comment about waiting for the rest of the girls to finish was meant about the girls who had already gotten kicked off but were still doing the photoshoots (if that what was said in the recap and I missed it I apologize.
Also, in another past season that wasn’t the one Ann won Tyra kicked off a girl who had a history of bulimia/anorexia prior to the show (to drop the weight to get on the show) because she gained a few pounds (that I couldn’t tell) on the show.
And Whittney was a model who was in-between regular and plus size (she was a size 4) and Tyra told her to gain a few pounds to be cast as the plus size on her show and set her up to win.

@Lady: OMG I miss Janice, too. That woman told it like it was…with humor, to boot. Kelly does not do humor. That truly sucks.

@Stumble: Yes! Jay Manuel was such a blessing to these girls. A repeat cycle (Ann’s) was on today and remember when he helped Kayla get through that photo shoot where she had to skate/snuggle with a boy and she was so scared from past trauma? Jay is the MAN.

@carol: Those shoes need to be dismembered, burned, and then have the remnants buried in different places. This woman is a “fashion maven”? I’m totes cool with the all black…but don’t wear shoes that would frighten small children!

@Gwen — I kind of thought Khakie was talking about Keenyah, maybe? I don’t remember her being bulimic/anorexic, though. But back to Cassie. That whole thing was messed up. She admitted to the girls, to a former anorexic/bulimic model, and to TYRA that she had an eating disorder and Tyra basically did nothing about it, except for a “heartfelt” conversation with her mom about pretty much not doing anything for Cassie. There should be something in the contract that they sign that states if the producers or anyone involved finds out that a girl has an eating disorder, she’ll be disqualified and set up with immediate treatment.

Victoria does look super-skinny, but it looks like they’re saving all that drama for one episode. Like with Elyse in cycle one, if I remember correctly.

I get the feeling Victoria’s an exercise bulimic — they always show her jumping around and exercising. The get-up she was wearing this episode made her look like Olive Oyl.

First, if I had a daughter in college who wanted to take a semester off and delay graduation to be in ANTM, I’d be pissed and tell her to forget it or no more college money for her. Second, any girl who really believes that this show is an un-rigged, useful step in building a modelling career is so dumb I’d wonder how she got into college in the first place.

Good on Yvonne for not drinking Tyra’s Kool-Aid. This show, which was always pretty bad in terms of being arbitrary and not caring much about the health and happiness of contestants, is now absolute junk. How can girls have watched past seasons and not get this? The girls who have most success post-show are the ones who don’t win (see: Toccara); Tyra forgets the winners the minute the final show wraps and the industry generally rolls its eyes at ANTM on an aspiring model’s resume (see: Caridee’s post-show statements).

I hope the other girls wise up, or are actually paid actresses (like Victoria so clearly is: hope the poor thing only got that thin to get on this show! Even so, it’s intervention time for her).
