Eddie needs Margaret’s attention so she sighs at Teddy to make his bed before walking off. Seriously, does she not remember who she was a few years earlier? Does she not remember her own machinations that put her in this position? Regardless, Eddie just wants to let her know the decorations will be delivered shortly so she can sigh, again, and tell Eddie the furniture needs to be moved from the living room. Eddie says he’ll have the staff do it, because Eddie’s nothing if not accommodating, and Margaret sighs. Again.
Pretty as a picture, isn’t she?
Then she sees that Teddy didn’t make his bed in the 30 seconds she was talking to Eddie and yells at him. He doesn’t see the point, since the maid will do it, but Margaret tells him there won’t always be maids. Isn’t that why she’s been committing her own felonies, like stealing and destroying evidence and marrying Nucky to get out of testifying? So there will, in fact, always be maids? Didn’t Margaret start out with promise this season? Hadn’t she accepted that happiness didn’t lie with Nucky or his wealth and security but in herself and that’s why, I thought, she was so involved at the hospital? Wasn’t she looking to fly and find greater meaning to her life? Or was the whole hospital storyline a set up to get her a diaphragm? And do all roads have to lead to Owen’s dong and discontent for her? I have questions.
Whatever, Scruffy Regina lets out a pretty mild bark and Margaret has a hissy that they’re driving her mad and walks out and into the suite’s foyer where a bunch of extras are gathered. Margaret wants to know where Owen is. (Of course she does…SIGH.) He’s across the hall in Nucky’s office with a bunch more extras. She asks to speak with Owen, alone, and you know I’ve had it with Margaret when Owen’s the sympathetic one in the scene. He asks after the children and she snits that it’s “tetchy” and when he says he can’t blame them she snots that it’s not a wandering vagrant this time. Owen admits it was Gyp but Margaret’s just there to be a pain in the ass.
Remind me again why I’m pining for you when I have a hot piece of ass whose biggest worry is keeping Mr. Poofles happy?
Owen’s much kinder and tells her it won’t last forever but before she can get a good head of peeve going Owen starts talking about them…but blessedly, Nucky strolls in, in his silk robe, to break up the scene. Margaret asks what the doctor said and Nucky says he has impetigo. Margaret’s incredulous, but Nucky recovers quickly and says might as well, since the doctor’s always wrong, anyway. Then Nucky walks over to pour himself a whiskey so Margaret can judge him but Nucky’s too addled to care. He can’t hear her and blames Margaret for muttering.
If you like it, spread it!:

Amen Valle—I was so happy this season to see Richard in the VFW Hall and interacting with people who are accepting of him. Granted it started with the hookers first but this is nice–teasing, accepting and kindness is why my beloved Richard needs. These are good folks.
And question– the red-head in the scene–am I crazy (prolly) but is she the girl in the Wendy’s comercials??????
back to reading
Awesome recap Valle!!!!!
I am forever loving how this show forces me to look at scenes beyond the actors on the screen. Its the room decor, costumes, something that has intrigued me from day one–the glassware. OMGL-does everyone have the same crystal?? Love it. Gillian’s necklace last week?? Its so much like a tiny one inch lavelierre (sp??) that my great-aunt wore and left to me.
I am in agreement that chickens are coming home to roost. And we will see some unhappy chickens.
It will be Eli and June unscathed–I love them and wish also that we would get more of them on scene. I hope the writers dont pull the “Margaret gets pregnant by Owen and hids her pregnancy and gives the baby to June to raise” story line.
I think my beloved Richard will get the call from Nucky to bring his sniper skills to the war with Gyp and as a reward will help Richard get Tommy away from Gillian. Julia, Richard and Tommy–nice. I think Julia knows he works in Gillian’s “house” does she???
Bobby Cannavale–another slow clap– he is amazing. Like you I am laughing and shielding my eyes each week. I hope we get more of his family soon. Henpecked and emasculated in his little tenement apartment.
@hot cawfee… I definately think we are leading up to Margaret being preggers.
jeepers–my cap-code is hobby-horse!!!!
I think its the universe telling us she is prego!!!!!!
There are some ways they can play it–she can jump into bed with Nucky and play the old “I almost lost you !! Lets try again!!!” after the fact scenario.
Soooooo, Margaret’s son…no longer a serial killer?!
Off topic, but I missed “Boardwalk Empire” last Sunday…
… Because I was watching Bobby Cannavale (Gyp Rossetti) LIVE ON STAGE in “Glengarry Glen Ross”…. and he was BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!
Hot Cawfee, I didn’t notice it but per tumblr, the girl at the dance is, in fact, the new Wendy’s girl. And I just found out that my niece went to school with Sheriff Jerry!
Classy, I sincerely hope that the whole women’s rights storyline doesn’t boil down to Margaret getting knocked up by Owen but fear that’s probably where it’s going. And if that is where it’s going it will be the worst head fake ever. She started this season with so much promise and actually having a normal friendship outside of her marriage but all roads led back to Owen. Blerg.
Plockeness – I don’t know if Teddy’s a serial killer, but that boy ain’t right. Nothing good will come of an unchecked Teddy.
And Rebecca…I hate you. Nothing personal but the jealousy that you got to see Cannavale live and in Glengarry Glen Ross of all things is just too bitter to process right now. Who knew that when he started bubbling up again as Louis the pissed off clown in Modern Family he’d take over TV.
WEll Valle– that is where we are going !!! OMG– Richard has a new hat–a fedora like a dad would wear and …omg–I cannot wait to watch the past few epeiosed again–its going off the rails!!!!!!!!
