Ashley sits down with Joey and Shain, and pressures Joey to make it official with Shae. She helps him to see the silver lining. He just needs to take Shae out to dinner and get a little romantic, and then he’s set for like six months, getting ass any time he wants some. Good God, just please make sure you use a condom, Joey. You’re not ready to procreate yet.
Joey walks up to say hi to Shae, and Tyler laughs at him. You see, Joey must be concentrating because he’s sticking his tongue out! And I’m excited about this because I do the exact same thing! You know who else did it? Michael Jordan. It’s a sign of genius. Or at least that’s what my mom used to tell me when I was a kid. Joey asks Shae out for dinner the next day, and Katie teases them by mimicking writing about it in her diary. I’m liking Katie more and more. Joey looks put out, but he should know better than to ask her out in front of everyone if he doesn’t want to get teased about it.
Joey and Tyler roll up to Shain’s house as Shain is telling his parents that Joey has a date. They cutely start teasing him about it in the way that middle-aged people do, and he denies that it’s a date. Shain’s mom is all like, isn’t she your girlfriend anyway? He claims she’s just a friend. Shain’s dad tries to convince Joey to buy flowers for Shae, but Joey’s not having it.
Listen to the man, Joey. He is also with a woman who is out of his league.
Sigh. Alas, Joey’s not ready to grow up just yet. As Shae is putting the finishing touches on her pretty date outfit, Joey drives up in his freshly-washed truck, sees a mud puddle he can’t resist, and goes mudding right in the girls’ front yard. Romantic. Joey doesn’t even say hello to Shae, and then lets her open her own muddy door. Joey and Shae go out to the restaurant, and the body language is awful. Joey tells us that dating is hard, and he’d rather be driving around, getting his truck muddy.
After a brief break with Shain and his dad fixing up Shain’s new truck, we return to the restaurant with Shae and Joey. Joey seems to have warmed up a little bit, but he stands up so fast, ready to leave when they’re done eating. Shae tells us that she has a surprise ready for him to reward him for making the effort with the real date. She encourages him to drive to the lake close by. When they get there, she tells him that they’re going to go skinny dipping, and whoever is first in the water gets anything they want. But it’s all a small prank; Joey strips down to his boxers and is just about to jump in the water when he turns and realizes that Shae is sitting inside the locked car, fully clothed. He takes the joke well, and they start making out.
