Dallas Recap: Prison is a Bitch

John Ross is at the prison, meeting with our favorite Venezuelan Drug Lord, which is a pain to write and I’m not really sure of his actual name.  From this point on, I’m just going to refer to him as VDL.  John Ross wants to know where the video footage is.  VDL still wants his oil, but John Ross says that he can’t do much from prison.  John Ross wants to come clean to the cops, but VDL warns him that he should be careful about putting his whole family in danger.  VDL again stresses that he wants his oil.  Not to use an obvious pun, but I think that well is dry.

Christopher is hard at work, when he gets a visit from a guy from Exxon.  He wants to buy the technology for the methane extraction.  Christopher tells him that he’s too late.  When he needed money to finish his work, nobody would help him, but now that he has done everything on his own, he’s not selling the licensing.

Ann is at Rebecca’s, who is worried about what kind of life she is bringing her babies into.  Tommy shows up and Rebecca tells him she wants him out.  Ann tells Tommy that he can work for her cousin in Oklahoma.  During this entire scene, Ann kept alternating between talking with an accent to not.  It was a little distracting and you could tell when she had the accent she was really forcing it.  Tommy accepts her offer and goes upstairs to pack.

VDL shows up at Southfork.  He makes some not-so-veiled threats towards Bobby.  Bobby responds by basically telling VDL that he can shove it and to get the hell out of his house.  On one hand I’ve go to say ‘Way to go, Bobby’, but on the other hand, this could come back to bite him.

And by bite, I mean that someone could die.

John Ross is on the phone in prison when two men approach him.  This never ends well.  One of two things is most likely going to penetrate your body:  a sharp object or a penis.  Just sayin’.

At least he’s not in the shower…

Bobby is talking to the police officer/detective and is told that the agreement with VDL is valid.  Christopher asks how J.R. could do this to his own family.  It’s a good thing that Christopher is pretty, because he doesn’t seem to have a lot of common sense.  Ann shows up and they rush to the hospital. Sue Ellen tells them that John Ross was beaten senseless.  She lets them know that is was a Latino gang.  Bobby realizes that this is the work of VDL.

Ann and Sue Ellen have a heart-to-heart in the waiting room about Sue Ellen needing to cross the line to help John Ross.  Ann reassures her that as a mother, you sometimes have to.

I thought Tommy was a little too agreeable to Ann’s job offer. I mean, like he’s just going to be all nice and “Thanks, that’s great”? And that kiss at the end had me totally grossed out. I don’t know why she just doesn’t tell Christopher that Tommy hacked into his computer and is stealing info; it’s not exactly a lie. But I think it’s too late for that, if she tells him now he’ll just be even more suspicious. And I LOVE how the Ewings can just ask for things that normal people would not be able to get, i.e. the background check. Classic! Yeah Sue Ellen is pissed at herself, but if the Dr. has been writing prescriptions to dead patients (I missed that part) what is she worried about? I loved her slip in front of the cop “See, just when you think things are bad, it’s ruled a suicide!” Uh, that’s not what the cop said, careful! Love your recap, I was waiting all weekend for it!

I had suspicions that Tommy and Rebecca weren’t really brother and sister!

Couldn’t the ME re-open the case and rule it a homicide?

Cosmonola: You would think so. A man in that position should be able to do that. New evidence comes in and it happens in other cases.
