Christopher is at John Ross’s bedside when he wakes up. John Ross admits to Christopher about Not Marta taping everyone. He says that none of this would have happened if he wasn’t so determined to drill for oil, to prove himself to J.R.. John Ross doesn’t want to put the family in danger, but lets Christopher know that VDL has the tape Not Marta made.
See, Bobby, this is what happens when you tell Venezuelan Drug Lords to get the hell out of your house.
J.R. is in Vegas, enjoying a drink, when he gets a phone call from his henchman. After mentioning the whole investigation into Cliff Barnes’ employee, the henchman tells him that he has bad news.
Bobby goes to visit Miss Ellie’s grave, which is evidently on Southfork. He tells her that there is something he has to do, but he knows she will approve because it’s for family.
Bobby tells Elena, Ann and Christopher that they will have to drill on Southfork until John Ross is out of danger. Christopher interrupts and tells him that they don’t have to do that. When they ask why, he tells them that he is going to make them an offer they can’t refuse.
Sue Ellen drops in on the Medical Examiner and ‘persuades’ him to rule Not Marta’s death a suicide. When he doesn’t want to, she comments on the number of prescriptions he has been writing lately. She thinks it’s strange considering all of his patients are dead. Between J.R. and Sue Ellen, John Ross doesn’t have a chance in hell of not being crooked.
John Ross is asleep when we see someone enter the medical ward. There is very dramatic music, so we assume that it is VDL or one of his thugs, but we realize that it is J.R.. Every few episodes they have to hint that he is human, so this was the perfect opportunity.
It’s just like when the Grinch’s heart grew three times
Christopher visits with VDL and explains about the methane gas. He again pulls out a block of ice and sets it on fire. I’m not chemical engineer, but wouldn’t it be dangerous to have methane gas being released into the room? After debating the profit, VDL agrees to Christopher’s terms – which include VDL having exclusive rights to the methane extraction in South America. Everything will be done, but Christopher wants the video footage Not Marta took.
It even makes a nice centerpiece. I’m sure the fumes are completely harmless.
John Ross is in his hospital bed when Sue Ellen comes in. She tells him that she talked with the Medical Examiner and she thinks that he is going to rule it a suicide. John Ross tells her that he had a dream that his dad came to visit him, but they both dismiss it actually happening. The female cop comes in and says that John Ross is being released. Sue Ellen assumes it is because the Medical Examiner came through, but it is actually because the video footage turned up.
If you like it, spread it!:

I thought Tommy was a little too agreeable to Ann’s job offer. I mean, like he’s just going to be all nice and “Thanks, that’s great”? And that kiss at the end had me totally grossed out. I don’t know why she just doesn’t tell Christopher that Tommy hacked into his computer and is stealing info; it’s not exactly a lie. But I think it’s too late for that, if she tells him now he’ll just be even more suspicious. And I LOVE how the Ewings can just ask for things that normal people would not be able to get, i.e. the background check. Classic! Yeah Sue Ellen is pissed at herself, but if the Dr. has been writing prescriptions to dead patients (I missed that part) what is she worried about? I loved her slip in front of the cop “See, just when you think things are bad, it’s ruled a suicide!” Uh, that’s not what the cop said, careful! Love your recap, I was waiting all weekend for it!
I had suspicions that Tommy and Rebecca weren’t really brother and sister!
Couldn’t the ME re-open the case and rule it a homicide?
Cosmonola: You would think so. A man in that position should be able to do that. New evidence comes in and it happens in other cases.
