Dallas Recap: Shit Is Getting Real

Well, I have been a very bad recapper, and the whole two episodes the first night totally threw me off.  I kept trying to catch up, but it’s just not going to happen.  That said, I’m just going to bring everything up to date and then start on Monday’s episode.

Where did we go wrong?

Here are the facts:

  • Harris’s mom is Angela from Who’s the Boss
  • Harris is quite the momma’s boy
  • Ann’s daughter is a little bitch
  • John Ross doesn’t like Christopher and Elena constantly pawing each other
  • Pam treats Frank like crap
  • Frank told JR where Tommy’s body is
  • John Ross sold out Frank and JR to cliff
  • Frank took the rap for Pam and then killed himself
  • Elena’s brother Drew showed up – is shady as hell
  • Ann shot Harris
  • Bobby confessed to shooting Harris so Ann wouldn’t go to jail
  • Harris woke up and told the police that Bobby shot him

Harris is at the hospital when Ann storms in.  Mommy runs to get security, while Ann asks Harris why he told the police it was Bobby that shot him.  Harris wants her to lose everything for leaving him.  Ann tells him she is going to the police and confessing.  Emma is in the hall and overhears.  As Ann is leaving, she sees Emma and the two share a very angst-y look.  Outside, Ann drops her keys, which seems really random until she sees blood splattered on her boots.  Are these the only boots she owns?  And why is she shocked that blood would be splattered on her when she shot someone?  How was there not any on her pants or clothes?  So many questions.  Next, we see her walking into the police station barefoot.  What happened to ‘No shirt, no shoes, no service’?  And she couldn’t have stopped at home for another pair of shoes?  On a side note, her socks seem comfy.

Back at the hospital, mommy is feeding Harris.  I’m really creeped out by their relationship.  Tony Danza never would have put up with this shit.  Emma asks her dad why he told the police that it was Bobby.  He doesn’t even act like he’s telling the truth when he says he was confused.  He apologizes that she had to witness Ann’s true nature.  Mommy chimes in that it’s not her place to question things.  I can totally her locking children in an attic.

In another strange parental situation, Cliff is telling Pamela that three people are dead because of her – One that he thought of as a son.  He says it is all because Pam let her heart dictate her actions.  Pam tells him that John Ross is going to help her get methane.  Cliff doesn’t care, he just wants Ewing Energies.  Cliff warns her about John Ross, which is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black.  Later, Cliff calls JR to let him know that John Ross sold him and Frank out.  I’m guessing that won’t go over well.

This show is soooo deliciously cheesy, outrageous and completely over the top – I love it! I used to watch reruns of Dallas in college with friends every night and they were so freakin’ hilarious and this is even better! So much ridiculousness!

My favorite part was when everyone was surprised that Ann was found guilty after admitting that she shot him and giving the cops the evidence that they needed. Had Harris taken Emma 20 days ago, that provocation defense may have worked. 20 years and a new marriage into the Ewing clan? Yeah, no. I’m starting to think that Lou got his law degree in prison and his first clients were all the inmates that “didn’t do it”. That is the only reason I could think of why he thought that would ever fly anywhere.
