   I’m surprised it is coming back – I’m not even sure why I watched it honestly. I thought it was something to keep Dance Moms fresh in our minds.

   To closet fan: I heard that they wanted her to, but Leo said no originally because she saw what they did with Dance Moms and how it destroyed reputations (Abby) when really all the producers did was twist what really happened around. I guess she didn’t want her kid or herself to be turned into the bad guy and get a bad reputation. So much for that

   I’ve heard every reason under the sun why Leo didn’t want to join at first, all from equally unreliable sources. I don’t think anything’s close to being confirmed. I’ve heard everything from the hated the idea of a reality show (the more honourable side of things) to her being a huge diva about contract requirements (admittedly less honourable). I don’t know a lot about her but she seems like a ridiculous stage mom the way she markets her child online. She’s acted as somewhat of a manager for her kid and she really pushes her out there via Youtube. It’s a little crazy – she definitely thinks (knows? I’m not even sure) that her daughter is the stuff and thinks of Mia as a celebrity.

   I actually was upset with this episode because this is the first time when they’ve really lied to us viewers a lot. In seasons 1 and 2, Pittsburgh had something almost every episode where they didn’t just dramatize the truth, they fully made shit up. Miami hasn’t really been doing that until now. Because of the situation with the TV show, everyone really should know that Mia has been dancing with this exact same group of kids and is on the competition team (as well that Jessie is a senior and is in a Brooke-type situation). Because acknowledging that they’re on a TV show would ruin the “illusion,” they’re flat-out saying that Mia is new to the competition team, which got to me.

   The drama about pulling solos was also horrible. I don’t know of many competitions (I’m sure there are some out there, but not a lot) who would add in a new solo at the last minute, and that would be regardless if someone else were pulled. It’s not a matter of having the spots, it’s a matter of approving the music and collecting fees. I’ve seen a few competitions where dancers were added in after the program was printed, but they did not appear to be added in on the day of competition.

   I know people had generally ill feelings about Miami but I appreciate that they didn’t overly jerk viewers around. Much of the drama came from things that were totally natural occurrences, like Jessie taking a trophy away from Hannah or Sammy sort-of dropping Kimmy. The organic moments of these shows (especially with the kids) make them compelling – like Nia forgetting her solo. You feel real sympathy for her. Of course, there were little things that weren’t organic (like the pairing of Hannah and Sammy for a duet, obviously done to further the “rivalry” storyline for their mothers), but I feel like there’s a difference between that and “bringing in” Mia as if she was never a part of the group.

   I think the difference is that in order to make the latter believable on camera, the moms and kids have to actually lie on camera (Mia had to look right into the camera and say something along the lines of “my first competition with the team”).

   This particular competition requires all entries to be in 4 weeks prior to the competition– so as much as the producers and victang would like us to think there was a question as to whether someone’s solo would be pulled, there wasn’t.

    Is Leo actually TOUCHING Brigette’s face with that bedazzled claw of hers? She’s rude! She pranced acorss the room to start some shit with Brigette. So, how is Brigette the only one in trouble. Some say Brigette shouldn’t have stood up (some, no one here, Gasmii have sense), but if someone hadn’t pranced over to Brigette’s side of the room then it wouldn’t have mattered if Brigette stood. And putting a hand in someone’s face so close is asking for that hand to be moved. It is an automatic thing with a lot of people… something comes at their face, they bat it away.

    the rumor has been mia wasnt on the show to start with because her mom was to “demanding” … don’t know if it’s true or not , just something I read online. I also read that her mom originally didnt want to be on the show bc of the negativity the pittsburgh mothers and daughters faced. I find that one hard to believe with the way she promotes mia. On a side not i’m glad other saw the maddia/mia “favoritism” comparison

    I’m sad to read that they were finally making stuff up for this show because I completely agree that I preferred the reality of this show to the outright made-up-ness of Pittsburgh. It did bug me a little that they weren’t bothering to change the kids’ clothes or hair for their interviews; there was one episode where Jessi was talking about being nervous about something and I thought, “Since you obviously taped this the same day as all of your interviews for the preceding four episodes I can assume what you’re nervous about happened as long ago as those events did.” But that wasn’t as bad as making up competitions or pretending that you were filming a beef jerky commercial and also pretending that you were letting your daughter be in said commercials even though you supposedly hate the woman who’s pretending to make the commercial. That just got to be too insulting.

    Also, it seemed like a lot of the comments on Pittsburgh 2 would begin “I’m so sick of this — bring on Miami.” And then as soon as Miami started it was “This sucks. Can’t wait for Pittsburgh to come back.” I feel so uncool for watching either of these shows!

    Is Starbooty really the best route for young dancers? I have been looking up some highly rated routines and I am just not sure. Jabby says “dark wins”, but there also seem to be a lot of stripper dances (sans stripping). No wonder Jabby thought that the “topless showgirls” routine was o.k. and no wonder the producers thought so, too! After they saw what other places were putting out there, Jabby’s routine was more restrained. And no wonder moms put up with ugly foot and sumo pose at Stars. It may not be pretty, but it’s not a burlesque routine either. But I still say, the faces some of these girls make (on these shows only Mia does this) are outlandish. These girls don’t know. Mia is extraordinarily good at mimicry, btw… so hers are particularly convincing. Maybe get that out of her head and put her in acting class instead?

    I posted this on the minicap too. I actually love this dance minus a few moves that are too provocative, but Autumn Miller also has the “faces” that seem highly inappropriate for her age. That is not the same as “Dance face” I did dance face and it was not sexy. My boyfriend laughed at me when he saw me doing it. I bordered more on the goofy side with a huge grin and I would wink and do surprise face but it was not at all anywhere near being like I was trying to be turning someone on. More like “OMG I AM SO EXCITED TO BE DANCING UP HERE LOOK AT ME!”

    Sophia Lucia dances to this song, actually. I didn’t watch her performance. But, Christina Aguilera doesn’t make faces constantly… probably because she’s singing. However, some of the favs of these kids are in there. I don’t consider this clip dirty or anything, but those are grown women prancing around which makes all of the difference. I can see kids being allowed to watch this because she is wearing clothes and she doesn’t curse or anything. When I was a kid, I know I would have looked at it and thought, “oooooo, she’s so pretty!” She kind of looks like superstar Barbie in a shorter dress.

    What kills me about dmm, and dm, is that I grew up in this world. It IS fairly crazy. They really wouldn’t have to “stage” much to make it interesting, but they do– in a way that is insulting to all the adults, and damaging to the kids. They are, after all, KIDS. Whether mckenzie or jessi, they are children. Their parents and “teachers” can be outrageous as they want to be for the sake of the cameras, but these are actual human children, with real talent, and actual careers besides “reality” shows at stake. We’re not talking “toddlers and tiaras” where that might be all they really have to hope for. It’s just really not okay. Bless ani, and dr holly, who actually seem to care about how this might impact their daughters’ futures.

    I prefer Miami to PGH, Pittsburgh is so fake. Also, Mia and Leo originally refused to do the show but then Mia wanted to do it so they added her later.
