Previously: Paige broke her foot and can’t dance for 4-6 weeks; Shrill tried to use her spidey sense to root out a part for Kendall; Christi yelled at Jabby (shocking, no?) and Brooke had to “back” off her solo.
The girls and Paige’s Giant Boot of Sorrow line up in the studio. Jabby congratulates them for being the overall high score winners at Starbound Philly. She calls their victory a “yuge success,” notes that they are on a winning streak and hopes they can keep it up.
Kendall is there – Jabby invited her to join them, but she is still not a full-fledged member of the team. Jabby says she doesn’t trust Shrill because of her notorious studio-hopping. Until she and Kendall prove they want to be at ALDC for “life,” they will be guests in her corn.
Pyramid. Brooke is last because she didn’t do her solo last week and because she allegedly didn’t speak up before the competition about being in pain. Paige is next because she is injured and didn’t dance, obviously, so there is nothing to judge her on. Plus, she was supposed to have been in class taking notes but she did not show up. Next we have Mackenzie, who did a good job, but apparently had a meltdown that we didn’t see when she came in second place.
Next row, we have… Maddie?? Huh? Jabby says that of course Maddie is the second coming of Anna Pavlova but she only came in first by 6 ½ points. Jabby had expected her to win by AT LEAST 20 points. Slacker! Next we have Chloe, who was outstanding in last week’s group performance and great in the duet, but who needs more intensity.
Finally, Miss Nia is on top of the pyramid for her solo…from two weeks ago.
I mean, it’s great that Nia is on top, but this seems to be a departure from Jabby’s usual M.O. Since when does Jabby reward someone for something they did two weeks ago rather than holding a grudge over something they did two weeks ago? Because of her great work, Nia gets the “reward” of being safety monitor or something. No, she is the “dance captain” and as such it’s her job to keep the other girls in line.
This week they are going to Starbound in Myrtle Beach, SC. Kendall and Mackenzie will do a duet and Chloe will do a solo. Jabby makes it a point to say that Maddie is not doing a solo, which I’m sure is not foreshadowing anything.
The girls rehearse the group number – called Taken – in which Maddie will have a special part. Upstairs, Christi is worried because Jabby said she wants a clean sweep this week and since Chloe is the only soloist, she is under extreme pressure. Oh, shut up, Christi. No one’s listening to you anymore.
Christi then pounces on Shrill to ask why she’s here. Shrill says she doesn’t want to step on anyone’s toes – although she will break someone’s foot (kidding!) – but Kendall deserves to be here. Based on what, may I ask?
