She tells her to be her perky Maddie self – perky like Paige – and not to do that face that Melissa hates so much. Maddie doesn’t seem convinced, but agrees to do it. The whole thing is soooo creepy. It’s like Melissa thinks that this is the way to get Jabby’s approval. So weird.
So they come out, and Maddie asks to speak to Jabby in the hall. Jabby interviews that Maddie is showing initiative (obviously not realizing that it was all Melissa’s doing). Maddie asks if she can do the solo, but Jabby is not convinced that she really wants to (because she isn’t!). Jabby says that Maddie’s acting like someone is making her do it (which someone is!). Melissa jumps in to say that Maddie wants to dance. Jabby’s like, “shut it, Mel.” She interviews that it’s not about Melissa. To Maddie she says “stop crying.” Then she interviews that she’s gonna let Maddie do the solo, or as she puts it, “throw her out there,” because Maddie needs to know that if she asks Jabby for something, Jabby will give it to her.
Again, and I hesitate to say this, but I feel like Jabby handled this sort of well. She could tell that something was off with Maddie and she told Melissa to mind her beeswax.
She goes to register Maddie’s solo with the judges and tells them that she hasn’t seen Paige or Brooke all day.
How much will it cost for a stage light to fall on Chloe?
The judges are like, well, we can’t do anything right now. Jabby says she just wants them to enforce the rule that if someone’s name is announced twice and they aren’t there to do their dance, they are automatically scratched. Hmm, foreshadowing?
Melissa tells the other moms that Maddie is going to do the solo. Holly doesn’t seem to care, but Christi thinks the whole thing was planned. Who knows with this show.
Kelly, Brooke and Paige FINALLY arrive. Kelly tells us she just couldn’t deal with riding on a bus for eight hours with Jabby, which is completely understandable.
Paige runs her solo in the green room, but Jabby is doing something on a computer and not paying attention to her. Kelly says this is because Maddie is doing a solo and Jabby doesn’t care about anyone but Maddie.
Kelly asks (in front of everyone, including the girls) WHY Maddie is doing the solo. She says it’s nothing against Maddie, but why is this happening. Kelly interviews that it was finally her girls’ week to shine and Jabby should have been working with them instead of throwing chairs.
This hurts me more than it hurts you. Or something.
Then she says she’s pulling Paige and Brooke’s solos because… to get back at Jabby? Again, I usually like Kelly, but she flew off the handle way too soon here. How is this hurting Jabby? All she’s doing is hurting her kids. I don’t understand why she got SO angry SO soon. She totally overreacted. Plus, I really wanted to watch Paige dance
So they announce both Paige and Brooke’s solos and they are both no-shows. Scratch!
Empty stage of broken dreams
Jabby’s sitting in the audience saying that it makes her look like a jerk and that Abby Lee Dance Company is now tarnished. Again, if anything is tarnishing her rep, it’s her behavior on this show, but I digress.
Anyway, it’s time for Chloe’s solo. She does a great job. Christi says she “owns” the stage.
Chloe interviews that she decided to stop second-guessing herself and go out there with confidence. Good for you, Chloe.
Maddie’s solo. She says she’s nervous, but she has to toughen up and prove herself to “Miss Abby.”
In the middle of her dance, the CD skips but she keeps going. This earns her a standing O from the audience when she’s done.
