Upstairs, Shrill asks Melissa what Jabby said to her the day before. Melissa says that Jabby mostly just ranted about lost opportunities. Melissa says she told Jabby she’s done a lot for the studio over the years and Jabby called her ungrateful. Christi says she’s glad that Melissa stuck with them in the parking lot. Holly agrees and says a true friend (i.e. not Jabby) wouldn’t treat Melissa or her kids this way. But Melissa interviews that now she’s not sure she made the right decision to stand up for Kelly. Maybe you should threaten to sue someone for old time’s sake. That might make you feel better.
The girls rehearse the group number and Mackenzie messes up a cartwheel and falls, giving Melissa the opportunity to leave so the moms can talk about her. Kelly kicks things off by saying her kids are always backup dancers and never get solos and she’s fine with it. Well, other than bitching about it constantly, she’s fine with it.
Kelly adds that Melissa can’t stand that Maddie’s no longer the star. Christi says Melissa’s regretting her decision to stick by Kelly, but in reality no one twisted her arm and sometimes it’s better to teach your kid right from wrong rather than have her be on top of the pyramid and get solos.
Downstairs, Jabby tells Chloe she can have a solo despite not deserving one because of how Christi spoke to her at pyramid. Jabby says she wants what’s best for Chloe and proves it by yelling at her some more. Upstairs, Christi cries.
Time for the Jabby-Maddie summit. Maddie interviews that she loves to dance and wants it more than anyone. In the studio, Jabby asks Maddie why she was crying last night. Maddie says she wanted to ask for a solo because the studio is like her home. Jabby says all the opportunities she offered Maddie came from her heart and Maddie’s not coming in from the parking lot was awful and Jabby didn’t deserve it. What? Now JABBY’S in tears because Maddie sat out in the parking lot.
Give me a fucking break, lady. Jesus. Maddie cries again and apologizes, but Jabby won’t relent.
She denies the solo and tells Maddie to think about what she’s done. Ugh.
Jabby rehearses Mackenzie’s solo by screaming that her feet are “sickle” and she’s no Maddie. Then she SCREECHES at her for dancing too close to the mirror.
The moms discuss the upcoming competition and the replacement team from Studio Bleu. They do some Googlin’ on their phones
(so much for watching the rehearsal) and determine that the studio is based in VA. Shrill says they’re probably really good and going to beat their butts. Oh come on, Shrill. If the Union army had had that attitude, the North would have lost the war.
