I feel your pain
Okay, Gasmii. I apologize in advance. Usually I am able to re-watch the show at work to get photos and go over anything I may have missed the first time, but today I am having technical difficulties with the video and I can’t exactly call IT and ask them to fix it so I can watch Dance Moms. Consequently, there may be more errors than usual and the photos will be whatever I can scrounge from the Internet. I am so sorry and I promise to address any mistakes in the next recap. Thank you for your patience!!!
Previously: Shrill complained endlessly and ALDC chopped down that apple tree.
The girls enter the studio chanting “chop, chop, chop” because of their victory in Ohio. Jabby says that the weekend wasn’t brilliant, but it was successful. They set out to beat the “Wicked Witch of the West” (Cathy) and did so in every category. Jabby interviews that she thinks all this success will put her in a good mood this week. Wow, isn’t that one of the seven signs of the Apocalypse? Should I be stockpiling ammo and beef jerky?
“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.”
Pyramid time. Paige is on the bottom as expected, but at least she is not back on probation. Jabby says that Paige beat Kendall and finished in the top ten. HOWEVER, Jabby says Paige needs to do the choreography she is given and not allow her psycho mom to interfere. Next is Mackenzie, then Brooke, who is also off probation. Brooke interviews that she is happy because being on Jabby’s bad side is pretty sucky. They inexplicably show a flashback of Jabby throwing the chair. I guess that’s Jabby’s bad side in action, but it wasn’t really directed at Brooke. So whatever, Lifetime. (I need to make a macro that says that.)
Second row, we have Nia, who Jabby says has really matured. Next is Maddie who was excellent in the group number. My notes say something about Maddie having a “big victory” last week, so I’m not sure what Jabby was talking about. Did she have a solo we didn’t see? I will have to double check that when I get back on-line.
On top of the pyramid is Chloe and not the three pictures of Maddie that Christi had predicted. Jabby says that Chloe won a costume award for her Angry Bird solo and made the top ten. Jabby actually says she is proud of Chloe, which is another sign of the Apocalypse. I’m starting to get really scared, you guys.
This week, they will be going to Starbound in Atlanta. Jabby tells the moms that she might even sit on a veranda and have herself a mint julep. But first there is work to be done. The last Starbound competition they attended ended in tears (Jabby’s) because they lost by “one-tenth of a point to the Wicked Witch of the West.” Jabby says that Cathy’s behavior was “out of control” and the whole thing was a fiasco.
If you like it, spread it!:

Brooke’s solo (not shown):
I thought Chloe’s solo this week was great, she got that spark that’s been missing from her last few solos back.
Yes, I really loved Chloe’s solo this week as well! I mean, I pretty much always love her solos, but this one in particular was amazing.. I am surprised she didn’t win 1st, as I thought her dance (from what footage we saw) was technically more difficult than Maddie’s (and Maddie, of course, won 1st), and she executed her moves more gracefully.. Just my opinion of course..
Ok, watching right now, one question. Why is Christie wearing Fred Flintstone’s outfit?
According to the Starbound website, Brooke did a solo called “Paint the Pictures” and got second, and Payton got 7th.
I loved Chloe’s solo and also thought IMCUDO (in my compleatly untrained dancer opinion) that it was technically superior to Maddie’s. She did not move in her piroettes att all! They both danced beautifully, but Chloe’s was stellar!
The whole ‘Christy chokes Cathy’ fiasco has me very confused/sceptical. The kids and the mums seem to contradict each other and themselves in every post. First it was said that none of the ALDC kids were there, but all of the CADC kids were, others then said that the ALDC (minus Maddie) were taunting their kids up the street and that they all witnessed the fight, another tweet says that Christie was sent out by the producers to cause drama and it got out of hand, another says that it started when they lost and were walking back to their van and all the ALDC came running out and started the fight, another says that Maddie was trying to stop the fighting (despite the fact that she was not there….. You get the picture! So my understanding, having read all the tweets on the subject, here is my summary:
- the fight was caused by the CADC quitting, which caused them to lose at a competition, which caused the ALDC kids to mock them, so the producers sent Christie out to hype them up further.
- Once the fight started, the ALDC put on their invisibility capes, so that only some of the CADC people could see them.
- Maddie kept apparating and disapparating, which caused confusion about whether she was there or not.
- Once the police arrived, Christie made herself unplottable so they could not find her and question her.
- After the incident, the traumatised CADC children (who apparently took hours to be calmed down) found Twitter to be the best form of therapy, and all (without being told to) wrote that ‘no child should ever have to see something like that’, because that is how all kids think and write.
- The ALDC mums and kids all suffered from amnesia and forgot the whole incident, thus not putting anything about it on Twitter. They are usually so vocal, that I can not think of any other reason why they would suddenly be so silent.
Can you see why I am confused??? Can anyone clear this up, or offer a more plausible solution to the multiple contradictions?
After looking at the full dances, I think I know why Maddie won. Her dance with the music really told a story and it captured my attention. Chloe’s dance was more of a technical dance than a performance or story if that makes sense. They both did a wonderful job and I am Chloe’s biggest fan but I would have went with Maddie this week also.
And Lmaooo @Bel’s despcription of the fight
@Bel are you suggesting Christie is the fight fluffer?
Not sure what you mean StageMom?? All I am saying is that the information being provided by the CADC is conflicting and confusing! I get that in an intense situation, people can often give conflicting reports, but their stories are just all over the place – who was there, who was involved and what happened seems to change from person to person, and in tweet to tweet in cases where people directly contradict themselves!
In the teen solo awards I heard the annoucer call seventh place for Payton’s solo. And then Leslie said “I wanted a higher title for her, but I don’t want to break her down” or something. So I think Lifetime just capped it wrong. Either way, they should have shown Brooke’s solo. :\
To me, it would have made more sense if Lifetime had included Brooke also having a solo in Payton’s division. It would have explained better why Kelly didn’t like Payton’s solo being added last minute if we had know that she would be competing directly against her daughter.
The editing is so annoying on this show.
If anyone wants to know what happens next week, here are the competition results. (SPOILER ALERT)

I think it would have been a much more interesting storyline to show Brooke’s dance during the show, and would have made the episode make much more sense. Now that I know Brooke was dancing in the same category as PayTon I can see why Kelly was nattering on about different things, trying to get Leslie to leave. And also the utter disbelief on everyone’s face when Kelly said she didn’t have a problem with Leslie. The girls discussing their dance was too cute after the trio. It reminds me of playground conversations after a math test… Paige, Mackenzie, and Nia need more airtime. Also, I thought Abby calling Chloe “Yogi bear” was sweet- it’s the kind of light-hearted ribbing that shows their rapport. Love.
Also, the “we beat the apples in every category” is bullpucky. Per the competition’s own results website, justice came in ahead of both Paige and Chloe.
The Dance Mom Editor/producer/whatever the hell this guy does on the show admitted that the misheard the announcer so they put 2nd instead of 7th. Abby was so nice this episode! (Well nicer then usual) But Christi and Kelly kind of pissed me off. I thought Leslie had some pretty good points when she spoke like when she said they moms are never happy. Everyone had a special dance this week (Solos and trios, Brooke had both a trio and a solo) yet they still complained. there are some people who never get a solo and there kids get like 5 in one season (even Paige and Nia).
Oh please. The producer/editor “misheard” the announcer? That’s crap! Payton and Brooke were in the same category, and they taped both of them dancing (they just didn’t show Brooke’s on T.V.), so they obviously saw that Payton was 7th, and saw when Brooke was announced 2nd.. Why would he even make a stupid statement like that when it’s so obvious that we all know by now that Brooke came in 2nd? Either he’s just a really big liar, or really stupid!!
I think if they would have played this episode more about Payton and Brooke competing against eachother it would have made for a better episode, plus Brooke would have been shown to have a solo and that would have been nice for everyone to see. I don’t know how they decide what to put in and leave out, but I think they could definitely do a better job.
I think they got the two girls mixed up when they decided not to show us Brooke’s solo.
This show will never win an editing award.
the girls went to the teen choice awards, i saw a pic of them with justin bieber. mackenzie finally got to meet him!
I think Leslie managed somehow to have her ‘role’ changed. She started out as the snide, uber-confrontational mom and now twice we’ve seen her be the voice of the audience, telling the moms exactly how we see them.
I, for one, can’t wait to see the backlash regarding the DDD role! You just know that shit’s gonna be good.
I swear when Peyton stood up to recever her award- under her name it was written 2nd place Novice
Category.
So thanks to whomever told me to watch “Dance Academy”. I luvs it. I have a girl crush on Christian and Kat.
Ah, the top Holly is wearing in the picture of her, Christy, and Jabby on pg. 4 is one I bought & returned from Anthropologie. Holly is rockin’ it like I couldn’t. But with her amazing Michelle Obama arms she can do no wrong in my eyes anyway. Christy’s Sparkles and Kelly’s Caftans could learn a thing or two from Holly’s Demure Stylings.
@ABT Payton could not have been entered as a novice soloist. According to Starbound rules, if you enter as a novice you are not eligible for the top 10 overall. Payton is listed in the top 10 overall in seventh place.
Next time you need photos from the internet, use cappingdancemoms.tumblr.com
She has pictures of every dance mom moment in history!
I watched the dances again, and it didn’t say anything about the novice category in regards to Payton—Just “Second place – teen solo”. Also, did anyone notice that they played the same clip of Christi clapping at least four times during Chloe’s dance?
A pic from the Teen Choice awards. Look at Kenzie’s face! She has that, “OMG! OMG!” face… so cute

What a gorgeous picture of our girls, they are all glowing
. You should re-post this when the next cap comes up…so everyone an see it.
Nia’s dress is so pretty!
Abbey was on the The TAlk on Thursday, but it was a very boring interview. She basically said she choreographed her first dance at age 14. And that was the end of that.
I broke my ankle and I have been wearing the big black sexy boot!
I’m really missing this mini/recap.
I’ve been stalking this page! Hope we hear something soon. I can’t be snarky without a bad example to lead the way!
Excellent Cheers reference!
