Jabby says that she expects Kelly, as one of her original students, to contact all her former ALDC classmates and invite them to the concert. Jabby says she wants her alumni to know that ALDC is going strong. Again, unless they all moved out of the country, I’m sure they are quite aware of that fact. Finally, Jabby says that one person from each age group will win a “cash scholarship” to ALDC. She says that it’s the first time ever that the Lifetime Network ALDC Parent’s Association will be giving out scholarships. Jabby says she wants “everyone” to see that ALDC is a full service dance company.
Upstairs, Kelly is saying that her girls hate hip-hop. Melissa says she loves to watch Paige try to do the moves because she is funny. Surprisingly, Kelly does not take this as an insult and try to rip Melissa’s hair out. She instead agrees and says that Paige is like a “wet noodle.” Whoa, someone took her xanax today. Melissa asks which former students Kelly plans to invite to the recital. Christi pipes in to say that so many people hate Jabby she doubts anyone will want to come back.

Kelly interviews that it will be her fault if she fails to get people to come to the recital and her kids will be on the bottom of the pyramid. She wants to know why Jabby can’t just call her own damn former students. Good question. And it’s true that her kids probably will be on the bottom of the pyramid for such a stupid reason, which begs the question I’ve had since day one: why does anyone take the pyramid seriously?
Holly says she does not look forward to the recital because it’s super stressful and she would rather have a root canal.
Shrill is STILL going on about Kendall not being on the dance team. Kelly says that Shrill left, so now she has to wait for the next round of auditions. Shrill says that Kelly left so Brooke could do cheerleading. Kelly says she didn’t LEAVE leave, she just tried out for a week and came back. Kelly says that going to an entirely different, rival studio for a month is completely different from trying out for cheerleading for one week. By the way, I like how these moms are talking as though it were THEY who are doing all this stuff and not their daughters.
It’s the next day, I guess. Or it could be next year for all I know with this show. Shrill pulls into the parking lot and is immediately accosted by Leslie. Leslie asks what Shrill is doing there and Shrill says she’s trying to come back. Leslie is all, “WHY??? Why would you put yourself through that?” Oh, I can think of a few reasons that rhyme with “ramera rime.”
Shrill continues to perpetuate the fiction that she is only there for Kendall. Yeah, sure, Shrill. We all believe you. Leslie asks what Shrill thinks Kendall is getting out of all this. Then she starts in on Christi and Kelly and Melissa, saying that they will never accept Shrill.
If you like it, spread it!:

its funny how in real life kathy and abby are great friends..lol
love that payton..its sad lifetime keeps her hair pulled back and profiles her as a bully..shes really a beautiful teenager and i’ve seen pics and stuff and shes good friends with the other girls..they had to bring kendell back in because people started to see that kendell never left..reality tv thats not reality??? they could spice up by it putting eden wood and her camera loving mommy on the show and invite honey boo boo child…and then even have a show where kate gosselin shows up with eight kids learning how to dance..”my ideas are not the ideas of TLC ..LIFETIME..OR FOX NEWS..so please they get no credit..lol”
Just started reading recap, but I have to say that Kelli by no means should have let Paige dance at all. I don’t care what your contract with Lifetime is. If it’s not fully healed, it will only cause more damage later. It doesn’t matter if she was doing cartwheels in her boot. Kids always push themselves more than they should, and Kelli should have known Paige wouldn’t just do the arms.
Just say no, Kelli! Just say NO!
My studio owner had a strict policy that you do not really even try to bother her or talk to her during recital time. She had a headset on and she was just so in the zone and overwhelmed and stressed. Only the staff and crew were allowed to speak to her. So if a Mom did what Leslie did, my SO would have probably murdered her. We had to relay all info to her and even we got our heads bit off sometimes as her staff.
Nice work! LOVED the “snake snake liar”!
And the “No parents” sign and caption cracked me up. You make me feel less embarrassed for watching this!
Great recap!
I had a hard time following what was going on.. I hate the way they chop clips up so you don’t even know what they are talking about anymore- like that conversation between Leslie and Jill.. What was that even about?? Also, in the clip they did show something about a camera man getting between, or holding back, Leslie and wish we could have seen what really happened. Would be much better to know what was really going on.
Abby was no at all annoying this episode (at least no that I recall). I don’t think she was mean to any kid at all, and was pretty easy on the moms too from what we saw.
Leslie is a nut!! Feel sorry for Payton. Must be embarrassing to watch you mom on tv acting like that- especially at her age where I’m sure a lot of her friends must watch the show.
I have to say the drama with the moms screeching at each other is boring. I got up from the TV and was folding laundry while it was going on. Love the kids, love the dancing, love the occasional snark from Christi, but the screech-fests with the moms are just NOT INTERESTING!! I don’t care who said what to whom last Halloween! I know this show is called Dance MOMS, but which the kids were featured more. Surely Lifetime can donsomething to make this show more intriguing. Like show the kids in their complete dances instead of editing them to death.
I have a theory on why Abby was nice this episode. She probably does not act like that to her regular students and parents. They are not on the show and I bet the way their relationships are are much different than the ones that are on the show. Since she was working with and around all her regular students and parents with the recital this week, she probably was nicer. It makes me want to go back and watch that other recital episode and see if she was nicer that week too.
I want to play “snake, snake, liar”! Do we have to run with our cocktail glasses?
This show stopped making sense a while back. I don’t even know what they’re fighting about half the time. Poor kids.
“Clearly Cathy prefers numbers that demean an entire culture.” Hahaha that cracked me up! But even Crazy Cathy didn’t seem bad compared to Lesley. She’s a bag of nuts if I ever saw one! I didn’t get the Halloween story either, unless L was saying that Melissa was still married when she showed L her new man. Beats me. And why was L harping on Kelly about Paige doing the dance? What’s it to her? I was surprised that all the other moms stayed quiet during that, though maybe they did take their meds that day.
I wonder how many more episodes there are?
Abby will never allow a whole dance to be shown start to finish or on time with the real music–too easy for someone to steal her choreography & use it as their own. I’m sure her combinations are ripped off as it is…
You know what confused me. Why was Cathy acting like she doesn’t know what a ALDC recital was like? She was in one for goodness sake so she should know all about it. I was surprised they didn’t show clips from last years recital when Cathy took over the dance.
i also didn’t understand why abby couldn’t call her own damn former students. if my former dance teacher told me to invite former teammates whom i was no longer in contact with, i would definitely tell her no way.
how do you talka about someone like they didn’t exist? is that like talking about your imaginary friend? otherwise, wouldn’t you just not talk about them?
i was glad kelly stood up to abby about paige being in the “hip hop” number but then disappointed by the recanting — she absolutely looked like an idiot standing there flapping her arms around.
it was so stupid that cathy bitched about “no backdrops” for “trapped.” it would have been much cheesier with backdrops. i even think she should have lost the stupid hat.
i don’t know how long it would take to drive from st. louis to pittsburgh, but it sounds ridiculous. really, there isn’t one damn studio in the entire st. louis area worth joining?
@tnt lover — amen. kelly should have put her foot down (or kept it there)!
Good point Samantha! I forgot that Cathy was a dance mom before she became “rival studio owner”.
Also, I meant to say that Shrill looks AWFUL. What did she do??? Her skin, hair and everything just looks B.A.D.
About travelling from St. Louis, I don’t think that’s what they mean. I think they moved from St. Louis and are seeking a (now) local studio. I could be wrong but that’s how I understood it.
@SnoopK8 This was awesome! I had to take so many ROFL breaks I lost count.
You also deserve a prize for keeping count of WTF they were talking about.
Because lately it seems like they’ve gone over to the “just show some random footage” editing style. Like RHNY. And this week they really hit their stride with it.
The Salute To The Reimagining Of Hip Hop was a hoot!
So was the salute to mutton dressed as lamb! Where the moms all put a Forever 21 sun dress on. Specially Kelly and Christi’s pink 1 shoulders. They’d look so cute on their little girls.
Was showing a goat right before Crazy Apple supposed to be symbolism? Since goats represent the devil in their suburban legend pilgrim creation myth or something.
I couldn’t help but wonder if that might’ve been Holly’s idea. Thinking teachers could have it as a discussion question. Plus show how her character’s finally adapting to their ways. So Nia can get rewarded with a scholarship. And be on top of the pyramid.
Paige is lucky they didn’t send her to that Cheer Perfection doctor. That told the little girl that broke her back to go heal it up doing back hand springs.
Or they could’ve put out a chair for her to sit in. Free Vivi!
I completely agree with all of the comments about Cathy’s opinions about a “good” recital. Everything she was making fun of were the things that make for a bad recital. Backdrops only take away from the actual dancing. A theme? If the purpose of the recital was to showcase what the competition themes have been doing…well, tell me Cathy: what would your “theme” be if you have a crazy Chinese number, a funeral, boys at a business meeting, fairies, and clowns? “And they probably just go straight from one number into the next.” Umm… I have never been to a dance recital that DOESN’T do that.
I’m sorry but if paige’s foot is broken she should be resting it and not walking on it that much. But I was a little confused about when the whole fight with leslie and kelly erupted over paige not speaking up about her foot… They show paige running to her moms car ???? If the foot is broken why is she running?? and if she can run why wouldnt she be fine to dance. Idk what was up with that, they have been showing a lot of paige hopping or jumping around , the kid needs to rest so she doesnt hurt it worse!
Also , did anyone else catch jill hand kelly money and say “put this in your titty!” Jill was a little inappropriate at the moms little party lol especially with children watching… there own children !
A couple of girls I know met Christi and Chloe yesterday. They said that Christi told them the moms actually like Jill, Leslie is just like she is on the show IRL, and Cathy is crazy.
i broke my foot on Easter Sunday and had to wear that big black boot for 3 months.
From what I’ve seen on Cathy’s web site, her studio does a whole new show for their year-end recital and does a musical-themed performance – they’ve done “Annie” and I think a few Disney films. They do separate showcases for their competition team.
But her going at all was obviously a staged move encouraged by the producers. Honestly, it’s so transparent seeing her and Abby interact, they clearly enjoy each other.
when I broke my foot and had to wear the Big Sexy Black Boot, my doc said “No work no walking, no nothing for 4 weeks”, well by golly, he didnt have to tell me twice!
Was that Maddie as a tap-dancing postman?? Wow, I’d love to see THAT routine!
yes it was maddie!! I would LOVE if the girls did a tap dance on the show !
Re 18: Leslie herself has said that the show portrays her accurately. http://www.wisewomenlife.com/?p=3015
I also caught that Maddie postman routine and would love to see it!
I watched the Drop Dead Diva episode and I thought Maddie did a better job than Abby. I was not pleased with her performance. I see now why they wanted a blonde.
Cant wait to read the recap and comments on “Carpet Munching Black Patsy”!
LOL @Rebecca, that would make a great recap title!
No mini this week – I’m gonna have the regular ‘cap done by this afternoon/evening. Stay tuned!
