now the dude in the stairway when jill was crying missed a perfect moment..every guy knows when a lady cries like that you need to go over put your arm around her gentle rub her back while gentle move in 2nd base and if the stairway is clear of traffic “basic telling the camera people to leave”you hit a home run while shes still feeling sad…lol……………..i love jill im her biggest fan..”please dont call the police”..lol
Ok for the new episode it is some drama about Chloe going on a school field trip. I thought they were all home schooled now?
I just found this. I’ll look for any other ones from this episode. Enjoy!
Here’s a clip of the Schindler’s list dance at another competition. It’s kind of wierd.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAPJInq1its
Kelly was ridiculous. Now Paige is going right back on probation and it’s all her fault. Who wants to bet Kelly will bitch about that and say how it’s not fair or that Abby’s out to make her kid feel bad when it’s not Abby’s fault really, it’s Kelly’s. She really didn’t give her much of a choice there, it only makes sense that Paige gets put back on probation. Kelly is so dumb sometimes -_-
Wow, just watched that Candy Apple dance Gwen posted above (Thanks Gwen!). Does Vivi dance AT ALL? It doesn’t look like it!
Poor Vivi. I have never seen a child LESS suited to dance than she is. It’s not just a matter of technique (although she has none); there’s absolutely no spark or interest there. For the love of God, someone find that kid a hobby she enjoys.
@Dani: I know right? Vivi just gets lifted and then runs off stage. And why did Cathy make her the “Asian princess” if she has an Asian girl in the group?
@April the kids do go to school, but when they can’t attend because of filming they have a tutor.
Kelly set her kid up, no doubt about it, and she bears some responsibility for Paige’s televised tears during that inevitable climactic altercation with Abby.
BUT, Abby went along with the producers’ stupid set-up scenario (there’s no way Abby wasn’t in on what was happening, even if poor Paige wasn’t in on it), and Abby was yelling at Kelly while poor Paige was sitting on her mom’s lap. That’s not okay. Kelly sucks, but Abby still sucks, too–I’m surprised Abby seems to have come off so sympathetically in this one.
I think we’ve been watching Abby yell at kids (or yelling at the kids’ moms right in front of the kids) for so long that we’re starting to get ALDC Stockholm Syndrome…
@Samantha in the link you posted those kids look much older. Looks like most studios use ringers
Oh, and I totally agree about poor Vivi, the human prop. Although her heel stretch (which seems to be her one move) has gotten much better since last year.
Free Vivi!
I don’t think anyone can say that the girls do not know what is going on. How can they not? Too many scenes are shot where they obviously know the camera is right there. Like in Kelly’s place, with Paige practicing. They all know what is real and what isn’t.
Brooke is 14, Nia Paige and Chloe are 11, Maddie is almost ten and Kendall almost 9. Kenzie is 8 and Vivi is 7. They are all old enough to act the parts they are supposed to portray, and they do it well.
It’s not rocket science.
I so enjoy coming on here and reading what everyone has to say about what is real and what isn’t.
On the list of things Abby says funny older needs to be added because she kept saying “oweder girls”, it made me laugh. What I don’t understand is why Abby said Kendall is not the same dancer Abby trained, she hardly lasted at ALDC (the fact that she never really left aside). More importantly Abby makes Leslie cry in the promos, I don’t care if it’s real or fake, it’s still Leslie and I hope it’s as epic as I’m imaging it to be!
Also, I’m pretty sure a black hole erupted when Abby congratulated Paige. I hope she’s not on probation next week, it’s not going to teach Kelly anything and it’s just going to hurt Paige.
I loved when Holly backed up what Abby said to Paige about rehearsing in the green room. If Dr. Holly validates it, it must be true, she has a Ph.D.
Christi cracks me up. She has the best comments!
You can’t beat a dance titled Schindler’s List, even if it is in bad taste!
FREE VIVI! I is not a prop!
Watching this episode I remembered some comments after the chair-throwing episode (I think Nannie said this?) about how the moms said that actually happened later in the “season,” and closer to Paige breaking her foot. And then suddenly I completely stopped caring. I think it was when Abby said, for the second time, “If Paige does the choreography I gave her she’ll do fine.” As if that wasn’t making it totally obvious to anyone who’s watched more than a couple of episodes of this show that Abby knew Paige was going to change the choreography. And that’s why I’m done with this show. It’s one thing for a reality show to be scripted. It’s another thing for everyone involved to phone it in the way this show does. The same plot lines from previous seasons. Editing that goes beyond sloppy. Moms putting more energy into their clothes, hair and makeup than into their kids’ well-being. (That Galaxy-blue top Christi wore to the Cosmo lunch? Come on! No one dresses like that during the day). The only real thing in this episode was Paige’s panic attack. And that was REAL. Yes, she knew the cameras were on and she knows all the grownups are “faking it” but she was in real distress. And this was her big moment to shine for the season. Nice work, everyone involved. Chloe sleptwalked through her dance; we don’t see Nia or Brooke at all. This show is basically a platform for Christi to launch Chloe into some kind of sick version of stardom that involves pretending she is an underdog to another dancer who “isn’t better than her but just gets unfair, better treatment.” I have so enjoyed hanging out with all of you in these discussions (I know I’ve commented too much, and you’ve all been so nice about it!) but I’m not watching these girls get exploited anymore. At least Toddlers and Tiaras is upfront about being a shitshow.
Oh — SnoopK8 I totally love you and appreciate your recaps. I get the impression you’ve kind of had it with this show too, however.
Those talking heads are filmed after the fact; it’s confusing for the viewer because they’re supposed to use the present tense (“I think Kelly just cost her daughter a crown”) although the kids forget and slip into past tense a lot. Anyway, those interviews are filmed later, when the interviewee already knows how things turned out. But, yeah, I’m done, too. I think Glee Project will be my reality show, since apparently I need to have a guilty pleasure…just maybe not quite this guilty. I’ll definitely still read SnoopK8′s recaps, though.
Off topic, but for anyone else who loves dance but has had it with this show, Bunheads isn’t bad, and if you haven’t seen the six episodes of Breaking Pointe, I recommend them. Also, there’s a show called “Dance Academy” that’s available on Netflix, and it’s really good. (I mean, it’s just a silly show for teenagers, but compared to Dance Moms it’s fucking Mamet.)
In that one photo you posted of Kelly and Christi confronting Jabby at the front desk – the shirts they’re wearing look so much alike. Like one is morphing into the other and they’re becoming the same person!
@Gah I concur about Breaking Pointe. It’s actually about dancing, with a little bit of relationship drama on the side. And these are professional adults, so there really is not much drama because they don’t want to get fired for doing something stupid.
gun kata has been recommending Breaking Pointe for awhile but I don’t where to find it. Is it on hulu or something?
@MaryEdith http://cwtv.com/cw-video/breaking-pointe/?tab=2
It doesn’t really matter what order you watch the episodes in, nothing significant really carries over from episode to episode.
Sorry for posting so much on this recap, this will (probably) be the last one. I was just on my Facebook and I “like” Dance Moms (the official page run by lifetime) and they posted a pic of Jill and Kendall with a caption something like “Jill seems not too happy at Candy Apple’s… Should she go back to Abby’s?” and I was surprised how many people—hundreds, literally—who honestly believe that everything that happens on this show is real. Someone posted the truth, that Kendall never really left, and everyone was like “Omg, rly?!?!1?”
I am a huge fan of breaking pointe. Everyone should watch – available on the CW website – full episodes. I so hope they bring it back for another six episodes. They left it open – did anyone hear if they are?
Thanks, Gwen. For some reason my satellite doesn’t pick up the CW, so that’s a huge help!
I am watching “Breaking Pointe” and I enjoy it. I have to say I like ballet, but I find it the most boring of all the styles of dance.
Loved Breaking Pointe, and highly recommend it. I watch Dance Moms, but liked Breaking Pointe so so much better, and really hope it does come back. Especially liked the episodes around the middle of the 6-episode season where they were pretty much past the contract stuff and into dance rehearsals and preparations for opening night. In particular, as someone who took dance classes for most of my childhood but only at recreation/recital level and therefore only with recorded music, I found the parts about the challenges that come with dancing with a live orchestra positively fascinating.
I thought that was interesting too…but because I played the violin through high school. Really, at that level none of us followed the conductor once we started playing. We’d watch her before for the beginning tempo, then we just followed the music and listened for the other sections’ parts when we had long rests (the cellos were awesome for this!). The teacher hated it but so many of us did it that you were more likely to be off if you followed her anyway.
I liked Breaking Pointe but I absolutely ADORE Dance Academy! I can’t wait for the new season. <3 The only reason I still watch this show at all is to watch the dancing at the competitions. Is the level as consistent as last season? No, but every now and then there's a group or solo I'd hate to have missed. Usually Chloe's dark numbers, but the last two I don't feel like she's really acted them out. I wish Christi would get that Chloe doesn't need the flashy choreo when she has a well defined character.
I hate Allison on Breaking Pointe. She is such a bitch. I get tired of them showing her all the time. She leads Rex on and I hate girls like that. Make it where no other girl can have him, but she doesn’t really want him either.
I love BeckAnne and Katie. I also was intrigued about the music stuff. I also only danced to recorded music and never thought about how live music can be too slow or fast and mess you up. Interesting. I am happy I never had to deal with that.
I’ve danced with an orchestra (a real ballet company needed kids for their Nutcracker), and it didn’t create any problems for us, because our dance wasn’t much more sophisticated than Vivi’s bumblebee dance!
Okay, it was a little more sophisticated, but nine-year-old kids training 15+ hours a week in dance seems like a fairly new phenomenon. The kids who made the (competitive) tryouts for those productions weren’t expected to dance at anything CLOSE to the level we see on the DM shows. The girl who did Clara had a beautiful presence, but she was not nearly as accomplished a technical dancer as, say, Kendall. I don’t think having had a triple pirouette at age nine actually makes that big of a difference, career-wise.
And I’m sure we’re not getting the whole story, but I agree that Rex needs to move on!
Third on Dance Academy! I got sucked in and assumed it was just a teen drama like Degrassi where I could enjoy it but wouldn’t get emotionally involved like my Dawson’s Creek and Buffy. Boy, was I wrong. Last 7 episodes or so of the 2nd season I cried and cried and cried.
After Kelly’s shenanigans, should we expect to see two photos of Paige on the pyramid? One for probation Paige and one for double secret probation Paige. Thanks for the recap Snoop-K!
The CD skipping thing is getting stupid. Really: when’s the last time you heard a CD skip? Unless it’s a crap copy, or you’re in a car on a really bumpy road, CDs just don’t skip this often.
Jabby has her flaws, but it was good of her to acknowledge that it was Kelly who wrongly put Paige on the spot by changing her dance. Hope she tells Paige that she understands! And while I was a ballet dancer rather than a competition dancer, I really don’t get all the moms just sitting around watching classes and rehearsals. My director never allowed that. There were two “parent visit” days a year and that was that. She wasn’t about to have her teaching methods dissected or the students’ efforts critiqued by clueless moms.
(Maybe if the moms had work/housekeeping/book club/volunteering/SOMETHING else to do during the day, that might not be so catty and obsessive over their kids’ activity. Then we would have no show, but I’d be okay with that.)
My cds ALWAYS skip. I buy them, rush them home, copy them to my computer, wait two days for them to skip. I’m probably just not careful enough with them but some of us have absolutely no idea how cds don’t skip…what do songs sound like at their regular full length? I bet thats nice
*looks around awkwardly*
Me and my sisters always thought Dance Moms was kind of real. Obviously, the nonsense about nationals and stuff was not real and some of it was scripted, but I didn’t expect the extent of fabrication that you guys are saying.
I guess we never really thought about the inconsistencies or whatever…we just like to sit around the tv and cackle while stuffing our faces with sweet and salty snacks.
Reading this stuff makes me feel like a kid who just learned that there is no Santa Claus.
Like Kendall never left ALDC? Word?!
Just watched all 6 eps of Breaking Pointe since yesterday! OMG! Love! The inside look at a real ballet company, so amazing. Beckanne is a gorgeous dancer and so pretty. Hate Allison and Rex is a chump for sticking with her so long.
@chaosbutterfly—Hate to burst your bubble, but it’s true! Kendall only dances with Cathy when the cameras are on. The “Silverspoons” dance originally had Kendall in it, that’s why there was only one green dress, because Kendall had the other one.
ok thanks for the Dance Academy info. I saw that on Netflix and thought about watching it but thought it would probably be too teeny bopper for me. Will have to try it.
@Chaosbutterfly-WHAT??!..no Santa Claus?? Then who the hell keeps eating all the cookies?
I am totally addicted to dance academy. Ugh- so good! I feel like I should be a tween to like it but actually its quite a bit more about dance than dance moms lately. I also stumbled across breaking Pointe and liked it. I wish they showed more dancing but what they do show is obviously amazing. I also enjoy bunheads but dance academy is definately more dance focused. I too wish Dance moms would focus more on the girls and dance but it is reality Tv after all!
@chaosbutterfly, you took the words right out my mouth…except mine was the Tooth Fairy.
This has nothing to do with this episode, but I just found this and I thought it was hilarious. It’s from some girl’s tumblr (she was trying to start a Dance Moms roleplay) and it’s so bizarre I wanted to share it:
Ok so I came across this roleplay character, using Mackenzie Ziegler from Dance Moms. There was another character with Maddie Ziegler. In the bio about each girl, Maddie’s said the rp character had so much pressure put on her by her mother she had anarexia at a young age and Mackenzie’s said she was the forgotten child, ect. and then Maddie had a breakdown and ended up in a mental hospital, which is where the rp took place and Mackenzie begged to follow Maddie.
It sounded like a good idea for a story so I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find it or the profile of the person who created this.
The mental hospital also had Brooke Hyland, Cody Simpson and Ester from Orphan.
Please help me! Please
