Holly goes downstairs to “confront” Jabby, who says that suddenly, Holly really seems to care. Holly just wants to know if Nia is dancing, because she doesn’t want to have to fly all the way to Denver if Nia has nothing to do. Jabby says it doesn’t matter, because Nia is part of the team and if the team goes to Denver, Nia is expected to go to Denver. Was Nia even in this episode? I don’t remember seeing her.
Jabby takes Shelly to a bakery so she can get to know her better. Jabby asks what Shelly thinks of the other moms, and Shelly says they are very honest and forthright. She is too nice to come out and call them harpy bitches, I guess. Jabby says that the other moms think Shelly is a big dance mom, whatever that means, and is just covering it up for now by being sweet. Shelly assures Jabby she is not.
Jabby and Shelly discuss how Shelly has an older daughter who is also a dancer and she has been through all this shit before. She will not be intimidated by the other moms. Shelly’s a little concerned about Ally having to learn a routine in two days, but Jabby says she’ll be fine. Shelly also wants to know what to expect from the other moms. Jabby’s words of wisdom are to never let them see her sweat or cry and to make sure everything she says is a statement. Jabby says the other moms have driven away more customers because of their nastiness and she suggests that Shelly nip it in the bud. Shelly looks nauseous.
They arrive in Denver for the competition. Jabby says they could be okay or they could be a mess. She hopes that all eyes will be on Ally. Jabby’s gives them one of her patented motivational talks, saying they are national champions and there had better not be any baby bratty crying. She looks pointedly at Mackenzie.
She announces that solos will be up first and Holly wants to know what’s up with the group number. Jabby claims she hasn’t thought about it. Okay, like I really believe that, but whatever. Holly says she doesn’t want to have come all the way there and not have Nia dance.
Christi says she’s sad because she misses Kelly and its weird that she’s not there. Melissa interviews that even though they sometimes don’t get along and occasionally threaten one another with legal action, they are all one big happy dysfunctional family. In the green room, Christi is still going on about missing Kelly and says to Shelly, “I’m sorry, but it’s still her seat.” Shelly’s sitting there like “WTF have I gotten myself into?”
No, really. WHAT HAVE I DONE???
Shelly says that she doesn’t know the what the situation is, but if leaving was Kelly’s choice, she doesn’t know what else to say. Christi says Shelly should go tell Jabby that her daughter won’t do the number as a solo if Jabby decides to do that. Shelly says that she is not the teacher, so why would she tell Jabby what to do. Shrill chimes in to say that not letting her kid do a solo is not telling Jabby how to teach. You’re right, Shrill. I’m sure Jabby would take that much better. Shrill calls the whole situation “heartbreaking” and says she doesn’t know if Shelly’s going to last. However, Shrill says, it doesn’t look good for her.
