Comp day. The girls and Jabby walk into the venue amid huge crowds taking their pictures.
In the green room, Jabby says those kids recognized them because they are national champions (and not because they are on a TV show) and if they lose, no one will be waiting for their autographs.
Christi complains that Jabby is busy rehearsing Sophia’s solo while poor Chloe is off in a corner practicing by herself. Nobody puts Chloe in a corner! Melissa notes that it’s strange that Jabby’s not paying attention to any of the other kids except Sophia. Ha, welcome to Christi, Kelly and Holly’s world, Melissa.
Well, speaking of the great Sophia, it’s time for her solo. Again, she kills it.
I don’t know if she did 54 turns, but she did a bunch.
Apparently, Chloe is up next, because she’s backstage looking like she wants to vomit.
Christi says it sucks that Chloe has to go right after Sophia. Poor Chloe does look nervous. Her solo is pretty, but not as clean as Sophia’s.
Christi just hopes that the judges see the emotion on her face.
Speaking of emotion…
Jabby helpfully says that Chloe was okay, but might have been good if her mom didn’t “sit in” last week.
In the green room, Chloe is upset because she feels she let Christi down. Oh, that is the saddest thing ever. Christi hugs her and says Chloe could never let her down and she is proud of her.
Jabby comes in to fawn on Sophia some more, while Christi fumes and interviews that Chloe deserves better.
The group number’s up next and Melissa says she’s concerned because the girls haven’t practiced at all with the giant red carpet prop. Mackenzie is supposed to roll the carpet out, but it keeps getting stuck.
Holly says that Jabby is trying to sabotage the girls which makes no sense because we know how much Jabby hates to lose. Kelly just chuckles about Jabby and her props. I would think that props would be a sore spot for Kelly, but maybe it’s only chair props that are a problem.
Mack finally gets the carpet unrolled and they take the stage.
The number is cute, but I wasn’t too excited about it. Shrill says it was not well thought out and “literally” thrown together.
Awards. Chloe comes in third, but wins a special “Expressive Heart” award because she is so “humble and heartwarming” on stage.
Aw, good for you Chloe
Sophia wins first, as does the group number. Kelly says that last week the so-called new and improved group only came in second while they came in first. That means they are the true team.
