Dexter Recap: I Want to Play a Game

How’s the week going, Gasmi?  I’m just hoping not to get stuck on the East Coast because of Sandy.  Let’s get to it.

Please let me go.

After allowing Ray Speltzer to escape in about the same way I open my front door and my dog runs through, Miami Metro has to pick up the pieces to catch him.  They’ve somehow acquired a warrant to search the mausoleum and Dexter and Masuka are going over it with a fine tooth comb…and a black light.  CSI has taught us you find semen in the weirdest of places. Nothing comes from the search, as they only find Speltzer’s DNA which means nothing since he works at the graveyard.  They notice he has stopped by to pick up the earring, though.  These trophies are like American Express cards to serial killers.  Can’t flee town without it.

Masuka has to make a call so he leaves the mausoleum.  And I love when I see people do this in real life…

Really, service is going to be better 1 foot above your head?  Try making a phone call while it’s up there.

Deb however needs to unwind at home.  She decides to take a bath and I have to ask.  Do people really take baths with the water running the whole time?  I understand not wanting to sit in dirty water after awhile but hasn’t she heard of conservation.  Linda Ellerbee was teaching me that shit back in the ’90s.

This would be the most hard hitting, honest and fair news show if it was on today, sadly.

She dozes off and to fit in with their horror movie appreciation month, the tub is filled with blood.  Deb lifts her hand out of the blood to find an engagement ring on her finger.  Dexter must have liked it and put a ring on it because he’s standing in the doorway asking her to “be mine”.  So much for that storyline being over.

Blood drops on slides and sisters with rings.  These are a few of my favorite things.

Suddenly, Dexter is holding the bloody sword he stabbed into Travis and Deb starts to freak as the tub overflows with blood.  She tries and turns off the faucets but nothing works until she awakens in a tub with plain old Dasani.

This is not how I pictured it.

Deb’s blood bath forces her to have Rita on the brain, so she pulls Dexter aside the next morning.  She wants to know why Trinity would kill Rita.

Rita made him babysit Astor and Cody once.

Dexter confesses he was hunting Trinity, who in turn, found out everything about Dexter’s life.  Yes even, the secret that he watches internet pornography.  He killed Trinity to protect his family and his search results.  Deb questions Dexter’s ability to love Rita to which Dexter responds by saying he loves Deb.

You do?  Shit, focus Debra.

Born in New York, went to school in Boston and now living in San Diego.  I got a degree in Engineering only to basically abandon it and now attempting to be a screenwriter, trying to make money any way I can on the way.  As a long time fan of TVGasm, I'm excited to be a part of the team and here to make you guys laugh.

    Great recap!

What do you think about Isaak’s and Viktor’s relationship? I thought father/son, but also got the lovers vibe. IMDB shows them with two different last names, so maybe the latter is correct.

I love how the writers have Dexter saying things like, “I love you,” at opportune moments to Deb. We see what you did there, writers! :-)

I’m leaning towards lovers vibe but (SPOILER ALERT) after tonight’s episode, I’m not sure if we will find out.
