Dexter Recap: I Want to Play a Game

To show his control, he’s sending Harrison to grandmother’s house, with Little Red Riding Hood Jaime.  And it’s not because Big Bad Debra told him to.  He just wants to be safe.  Plus, Jaime is going to stay up there so kill two boring characters with one stone.

We get another brief moment with Isaak.  He’s stopped by Viktor’s apartment and when he finds a picture of them both together he begins to cry.  They shared a bond.  They both have a “k” in their name.

Meanwhile, Miami Metro has taken some time to attend Speltzer’s victim’s funeral.  Problem is Ray shows up and Deb goes batshit.  Guardian Angel has to stop her while Speltzer just taunts and threatens her.

Dexter shows up at Deb’s for another one on one.  Deb confesses to losing her mind but she doesn’t want to hear Dexter’s I told you so spiel.  Dexter is still confused why things are different now that she knows.  She can’t fuck another serial killer, Dexter.  That’s the problem.  Dexter’s afraid he’s lost a sister that he can count on.

Angel and Quinn are staying late at the office.  Angel is still digging at the setup.  He wants to go back to the club but Quinn has a date.  Angel asks for the name and when he says Nadia, he knows it’s the stripper. Quinn says she’s a dancer who takes her clothes off.  And the guy at Starbuck’s is a musician who serves coffee.  The qualifier is what’s important.  Angel is just jealous and gives him the night off.

Dexter is back at the graveyard for round 2, and lures Ray over by an empty grave.  Someone trained Ray well because when he reads the note saying “Stay”, he stands still for a few moments until Dexter can sneak up and knock him out with a shovel.

It doesn’t say for how long, though.

Dexter brings him into an incinerator, and straps him down.  Dexter is forgoing the plastic again, hoping fire will take care of the job.  He’ll soon find out how well that worked out at the church.  Ray screams loudly and Dexter joins him.  It’s very Joker-esque so Michael C Hall must be trying everything to get some Emmy recognition.

You can only lose to a man who gets to show up to work in his underwear so many times before it gets to you.

Dexter tells Ray he’s done with blood slides and his memories will have to serve him.  Hopefully Alzheimer’s doesn’t run in his family.  Ray says he’ll kill Dexter.  Hey, say spoiler alert next time.  Be mindful of others.  Oh wait, nevermind he’s burned to death.  And with him go the blood slides.  Too bad LaGuerta’s got her own batch.

He’s worried about growing apart from Deb but she comes when he calls her to the scene.  He shows her the rising smoke saying it’s Ray’s ashes.  How do you feel?

Born in New York, went to school in Boston and now living in San Diego.  I got a degree in Engineering only to basically abandon it and now attempting to be a screenwriter, trying to make money any way I can on the way.  As a long time fan of TVGasm, I'm excited to be a part of the team and here to make you guys laugh.

    Great recap!

What do you think about Isaak’s and Viktor’s relationship? I thought father/son, but also got the lovers vibe. IMDB shows them with two different last names, so maybe the latter is correct.

I love how the writers have Dexter saying things like, “I love you,” at opportune moments to Deb. We see what you did there, writers! :-)

I’m leaning towards lovers vibe but (SPOILER ALERT) after tonight’s episode, I’m not sure if we will find out.
