Drag U Recap: Knockouts!

Brief and scripted filler scene where Raven, her way too over-padded ass, and Jujubee decide they have to initiate Chad into the Drag U family by paddling her and it’s time for Missy to meet with Ru.

Missy’s pretty emotional even before they start talking and Ru gives her the same speech Chad’s been giving her about not being able to give everyone what they need until she takes care of herself, then asks what Missy’s mom would think of Adina Powers. She thinks her mom wouldn’t know what to say, but says Adina and her mom are both really strong women. But her mom definitely wasn’t a glamour girl and Missy thinks that’s why she’s missing the girlie gene. Ru tells Missy that Drag U can teach her how to paint herself up and do her hair, but to let Adina Powers be her guardian and take care of her. Missy thinks she can finally start taking that advice.

Last minute prep and Cynthia thinks she’s ready to kick some ass while her cousin wants her to transfer the fighting spirit she has in the ring to the rest of her life. Krystle’s hoping she can find half the confidence Touché has and her boyfriend cosigns that thought. Missy hopes she does well and looks hot for her husband, who she thinks is hot, and he’s just excited to see her perform. But would be happy to see her wearing anything other than her gym clothes. And with that, it’s time to draguate, bitches.

I believe Raven’s ensemble is what Mike Ruiz would call “middle-aged divorcée at Jones Beach.”

Ru’s dressed like Pee Wee Herman again and he’s here to introduce this week’s falculty: Lady Bunny, Dean of Dance Jamal Sims and Castle co-star, Tamala Jones. Who? I need to start watching more TV.

I feel I should know who she is.

Ru lets the audience know that this class features lady boxers who’ve battled their demons and are ready to knock them out. So let the draguation commence. I know I made my prediction but they were all pretty likeable and I really thought if there was a week where they might break form, this would be it because they were all close.

All three were great on the runway but Missy had a few moments where she looked like JLo, prancing and posing, so point to Missy. But runway doesn’t really matter so on to the oral examinations.

Cynthia’s favorite part of her outfit is her attitude. She chose the slinky dress for her daytime drag, proving that the right foundation garments really can be magic. Bunny makes the Grace Jones comparison but tells her she’s also really elegant and Jamal tells Cynthia he thought she was Tyra Banks for a moment. Cynthia’s flattered and I laugh and laugh because you know Tyra’s flogging a Jay to figure out what he meant by that.

    @valle,

    “I don’t think any other group managed to be this in sync.”

    I couldn’t agree more. They really were good, and heck, when Krystal said she thought they all did well, I got a little wet eye.

    Cynthia, I hate to say, looked kind of like a guy in a dress (sorry) She is so fierce and beautiful, but sometimes over-doing the makeup on a grrrl like her does the opposite. Loved her abs, her BF was crazy!!!

    I love Ru’s music, truly! I listen to Glamazon and the Main Event, and Jealous of my boogie all the time. She is very clever and I love her to death, but I don’t think she should be using “hallalou” . . . that was coined by a much lesser Queen, and Ru deserves the best! So there!

    @Juddfan I wholeheartedly agree! I still have a picture I took with my first boyfriend, who wore makeup. For fun I had him do my makeup that day, but when we got the pics back I looked like the boy and he looked like the girl! I didn’t look bad, just a bit masculine (though it didn’t help I’m somewhat androgynous naturally)b/c his style put me over that edge.

    I love his music too! <3 all those songs, and Lady Boy! "Don't you know, I'm that chick you know, that my world won't stop if you clock me. You got me!"

    I’m starting to get really mad at this show.
