Because we don’t have a results show this week, we get a lot of fluff at the end of this episode. We find out that a lot of dancers come from Utah. I guess that makes sense. Yeah, the state is gorgeous, but what else is there really to do in Utah? You might as well dance!

This just leads up to our main event which is the swing dance marathon. Can you really call it a marathon if it only lasts for four minutes? The teams will all dance at once and will be tapped out one by one. The first team out will get an extra 4 points and the last couple standing gets an extra 10 points. It’s not really that exciting to watch. Here is the order of eliminatin:

Kirstie and Maks – 4 points (28 overall)
Gilles and Peta – 5 points (33.5 overall)
Apolo and Karina – 6 points (33 overall)
Emmitt and Cheryl – 7 points (34.5 overall)
Shawn and Mark – 8 points (38 overall)
Kelly and Val – 9 points (36 overall)
Melissa and Tony – 10 points (39 overall)

Nice. Tonight, DWTS raised about $15 million for the Red Cross. Good job! I’ve got my appointment to donate blood on Monday. I don’t have a lot of money to give, but I have enough bodily fluids to spare.

So, that’s it for the night. Next week, we’ll have another double elimination. So who do you think will be the two couples we lose? I have a feeling it will be some combination of Kirstie, Kelly, and Emmitt. Apolo should probably watch his back as well.

Dammit! My computer is being stupid and won’t let me get into my email to paste the code here for the usual closing credits. So, be sure to follow us on Twitter (@TVgasm) and like us on Facebook!

Also, if you want to get my personal tweets, I’m @PopePhilly.

That is the cheesiest, best music video ever! Bruno looks exactly the same.

And BTW, good on Maryland for approving casinos, too! Can’t wait to go gamble in National Harbor.

So, apparently Kelly’s boyfriend is in the audience every week. My knew theory is Val and Kelly are using the “we’re falling in love, aren’t we cute, vote for us!” trick. It worked for Maks and Erin Andrews…

BTW, not digging the “ad” captchas. Mine is “Courtyard Weekend Deals”. Boo.

I feel all these songs (minus the Ke$ha and Andy Grammar songs just cause they are new-ish) have been sitting in the reserves for a while until they could use them now. And wow… That was the first time I though Ke$ha has a better “singing” voice and that takes a lot.

And glad I’m not the only person that when they get hit on gives some support line to give whatever relief money. Done that SO many times!

Never impressed by the DWTS “singers” but WOW this week was a new low. They suck balls! I have heard better “singing” at 1:45 AM on a Friday nite after the local VFW beer blast – karoke nite. Yeah I know how to have a good time.

However I am facinated by the one “singers” obsession with metal and or beaded headresses. She is never – ever without some apperatus on her skull. You GO girrrl!!!

I’m actually going to defend the DWTS band and singers. They’re mostly winging it on performance night. I remember reading a while ago that they don’t rehearse during the week. It’s mostly just one run through during dress rehearsal and then the live show.

Considering how little prep they get, I think the manage it as well as can be expected.

And I’ll continue my unpopular opinion and wish Gilles would just go. I know he’s hot but he’s so off-putting to me with his nonsensical intensity that I find him embarrassing. He takes this thing just as seriously as Sabrina did. It’s just a dumb competition.

Vallegirl, I hear you! I loved Gilles in his first season but find him intense and arrogant this go round. I love Apolo (sp?) and Melissa and am glad to see Tony getting props for his choreography, especially from CarrieAnn. Didn’t they have a big feud a few years ago?

I don’t think Len hates Derek – I think he has finally realized that the viewing audience is sick of Derek being treated with kid gloves and getting away with not doing the actual assigned dances but doing whatever the heck he wants. I dislike Mark intensely but it was nice to see Shawn actually dancing instead of just gymnastic moves. I wonder how Bristol felt seeing how happy Mark was to work with Shawn again…

I love the embedded videos in the recaps, PopePhilly – it gives me a chance to rewatch my favourites.

@beebstx: One expects a certain amount of cheese from Elton John in the 80s. With the addition of Bruno, to paraphrase Blackadder, let’s us finish the cheese and move onto brandy and cigars.

@EnriquesMole: It just seems strange to me that they would have a fake relationship when one of them clearly has a boyfriend. If I can find the article, I’ll post it here, but Kelly has just said that she and Val aren’t sleeping together at the moment because, “It wouldn’t be professional.”
Also, just turn the captcha into a game of “If I had a whore house.” So, “If I had a whore house, I’d call it “Courtyard Weekend Deals.”

@considerthis: I do love that woman with the headpieces. I wish that I had the confidence to pull of something like that.

@vallegirl: I never realized that the singers don’t really rehearse that much. What else are they doing all week? That must be a nice job. I agree that Gilles is taking this way to seriously – I think they all are. It must be nice to have a dance competition be the most stressful thing in your life.

@Pikey578: I’m glad that Len makes Derek follow the same rules as everyone else. He never seems to make his partner dance. He finds their strengths and then just uses that – he takes the easy road. I can imagine that it’s hard for Shawn to completely let go of all her gymnastics training. Seeing her actually dance with Mark was a welcome change.

I like to imagine that Mark, Shawn, and Derek sat around having a good laugh at Bristol.

One thing I’d like to point out, once a “celebrity” is eliminated, you tend to see them come back and at least watch the show from time to time to show support to the others. It’s obvious that people become friends on this show. I haven’t seen Bristol at all. I wonder if she is too busy throwing a “Playing the Victim” party somewhere.

First off, I LOVED Apolo and Karina’s dance! I was blown away by it and thought the judges were crazy for giving them straight 9′s, but I know it was the 1st dance of the night and it always suffers for it.

I also agree with you guys that Shawn ACTUALLY dances with Mark. I knew she would do so much better with him. Derek only wants Derek to look good.

As for the singers and the “band”, it’s not ALL their fault this season. Look at the music they have been given. It totally sucks ass!

Double elimination will be bad….. Kristie really should go home now. I’m such a doubter. I think everything is rigged, so I’m sure the producers have already determined the final 2 being Gilles and Shawn for a rematch. Let’s hope I’m wrong.

On a sad note, Brooke just announced that she has thyroid cancer. She posted a vlog about it here.

I don’t care for Brooke’s interviewing, but I was saddened to hear about her diagnosis. I hope they found it early.

I am glad that Len has been downscoring Derek for not choreographing the required elements in his routines. It’s way overdue.

As far as CA and Tony, rumor is that they dated years ago and he broke it off.

@chooch: “Derek only wants Derek to look good.” That sums it up perfectly. I remember when he danced with Rikki Lake a few seasons ago. He basically just let her pose while he danced around her. The woman was the original Tracy Turnblad, for crying out loud. She was a better dancer than he let her be. It was nice that Mark actually let Shawn dance instead of just having her perform gymnastics to music. She’s obviously good and we were reminded of that this week.

@wcsdancer: The article I read said that she’s going to have surgery and, because it is early enough, the prognosis looks good. She should be 100% cancer free after the surgery. I don’t like her as a host either, but I definitely hope she gets through this OK.

Don’t care much for Brooke’s interviewing skills, but I certainly wish her well!

Pikey, Vallegirl, what can I say, Gilles for President, he is hot hot hot! I LOVE him, don’t care what he says or does, he can just stand there and look sexy, I’m all for that

Derek has annoyed me for a while with how little dancing his partners manage to get away with.

I like to refer to the singer with the headpiece as my queen. I wanted to go as her for Halloween but sadly I don’t have the boobs (if you pause when they show the singers she is always wearing a low cut dress and her chest is ginormous) and I know that no one would have a clue who I was supposed to be.

Sad news about Brooke. Cancer sucks.

@jarthon: I totally meant to respond you earlier. I totally thought I had. It’s been a long week and I’d have not nearly enough coffee. I don’t think I’d ever actually donate via some guy’s phone because, well, that would be stealing. However, it’s funny to think about it. I have given out the rejection hotline a few times. A few guys didn’t get it.

@Pat: I agree with you on Gilles. I’m not really listening to him or paying attention to his attitude. I love him for purely superficial reasons and I’m 100% admitting that I’m objectifying him and looking at him as nothing more than a piece of meat…a sexy, sexy piece of meat.

@Boogie Wiggles: Perhaps that Halloween costume would work if you did it as part of a group. You go as her and then get some friends to go as the dancers and some of the other singers.
