Mario & Karina (Season 3)
Emmitt & Cheryl
It was mentioned that Emmitt and Cheryl used a live donkey in there somewhere. Did I miss it? I didn’t see it. Were they referencing Bristol watching and calling her a jack ass? I think Emmitt has a much better presence than Mario did, but he just seemed robotic at times. Again, I really liked the story line.
Oh, man! Bruno is back to his old self. He calls Emmitt a raging bull and then he flails around a lot. As much as Bruno loved it, he thought Emmitt’s shoulders were a bit too tense. Carrie Ann thinks that he is a human torpedo. Len agrees with me about Emmitt’s presence. However, he thinks that he loses some finesse because he’s so intense.
Carrie Ann – 8.5
Len – 8
Bruno – 8.5 (Come on, Bruno! I miss the old you!)
Hélio and Chelsie are next. They’re reinventing Apolo and Julianne’s quickstep from season 4. Hélio seems most excited about being able to choose the wardrobe. Uh oh! Apolo shows up the watch the rehearsal and warn Hélio that he really has to do well. What used to earn 10s is now earing 5s.
Apolo & Julianne (Seaon 4)
Hélio & Chelsie
Seriously, are the costume designers just mad at the contestants now? Chelsie’s dress was ridiculous. I understand the concept of the long jacket on Hélio, but it just looked like he was a little kid who put on his father’s suit jacket. This was another dance that was kind of boring to me. Hélio didn’t really go far enough with the creative. It was just a straight quickstep. Usually, that would be fine. However, tonight is supposed to be completely about the creative aspects of the performance.
What do the judges think? Carrie Ann thinks that Hélio is the quickstep king and thinks he brings a lot of joy to the dance. The downside was that Hélio got stuck in Chelsie’s dress and then just got lost from there. Len thinks that they deserve to be back next week. Bruno thought it started great, but then collapsed after the mistake.
Before we get to the scores, Tom makes another announcement. For the first time in “DWTS” history, the pairs will be picking the dance styles for each other on the results show! That could be really interesting and there is definitely a lot of strategy involved in there. Hopefully we’ll end up with some “Showgirls” moments.
Before we get to the scores, I just have to point out that, contrary to what Hélio believes, he is not a pimp. Then again, I did a Google search for “pimp” and this is one of the pictures that came up:
Still more of a pimp than Hélio.
Carrie Ann – 8.5
Len – 8.5
Bruno – 8.5 (I’m so sad now.)
