Daddy Mac shows up on Day 2 to give out advice before his afternoon nap. He starts with Meagan who expresses how much she needs a boost of confidence because of being knocked down from the last elimination? Has she been awake this entire time because she really hasn’t produced ANYTHING good thus far and let us not forget that shitty Freedom Fighter she made. Daddy Mac tells her that because she is using so much brown fur that she should shade some of it to create different tones. Alam wants to create a lot of texture and incorporate every single color she sees on her little picture reference but Daddy Mac warns her not to use so many colors. Alam decides against his advice because she’s obsessed with color. Daddy Mac also talks to Anthony but then decides that nappy time is more important and runs off to slumber land before talking to the others. Meagan tries to sneak a peek at what Kris is doing for his wings since they are both doing winged creatures and tries to distance herself from him by doing 4 wings instead of 2. 2 wings bad, 4 wings good. Day 3 and Last Looks are upon us and Kris’ wings came out super cute while Meagan can’t help herself and keeps throwing more paint and fur onto her already monstrous creation. Let’s be real she just wants to keep getting high off the spray paint. Anthony is behind and trying to make up time but he’s molding on the third day which is crazy. I guess he pushed too much during the first three weeks and lost his steam and mojo along the way. Typical man; too fast, too soon. Wayne is running out of time because he is slow. During Last Looks, Wayne forgets that his pieces that would tie in the pictures for the challenge are at the shop and Alam is having major issues with application and coloring. Glenn looks like a roach which is appropriate for this challenge.
Wayne
I mean did they see his feet?

Meagan
Shitty Rug

Kris
Um…I like it. No snark.

House
Jeff Goldblum does need work.

EricZ
Why is it wearing a condom?

But it’s just a big costume and a mask.

Anthony
All the single ants put your hands up.

Alam
I mean….
If you like it, spread it!:

saw this article about the hair (and some makeup) in The Hobbit. Thought it was interesting to see how it is done in the real world vs what we see on this show.
It always annoys me when these contestants badmouth beauty make-up. That is a huge part of the business. Ve Neill did The Hunger Games. A lot of that was about beauty make-up with some extra stuff added. I really don’t think most of these contestants could survive in the mainstream film world for long. Why don’t the challenges incorporate more of what actually happens on a real film set. The viewers would still find it interesting. Think, they have to apply the same make-up two days in a row and they are marked for consistency.
I am glad Alam is gone, there were a couple of challenges she should have been gone before but somehow skated by. The look on her face when the judges were telling her the truth about her crap character was extremely smug. It was almost as if she honestly didn’t think she was in any trouble. Meagan at least looked upset (as she should be) when she was with the judges.
Alam’s foundation challenge piece looked like Aughra from The Dark Crystal to me. I liked her point of view in certain challenges (candy especially), but she seemed to really get stuck in her own head on certain things.
I also liked Alams candy/anime character but she should have gone home for her frozen guy whose ice shards wouldn’t stay on. The face was interesting but the back clearly showed that it really doesn’t matter how great your ideas and vision are if you have no idea how to execute that vision.
And I also agree about beauty makeup. To be a succesful makeup artist, you really have to be able to do beauty, come up with great ideas AND know how to fabricate. Yeah, it’s a lot but if you can’t do one or more of those things, you’ll end up working for Neville, Glenn and Ve rather than being them.
I don’t think the show’s format should change.
I feel like Face Off focuses on creativity, ingenuity, technique and talent. It’s more about the spectacle and artistry of special effects than the brass tacks of actually working in the industry. I like that though.
If they made it more like a real movie set or something, I feel like it would be really boring. I remember that other show Sci-Fi had about this family that made effects for movies and it was more realistic, but it was boring as hell.
Not happy that Alam went home.
Yeah she goofed before and her creation this week was horrible, but she has made some good stuff. Meagan has literally never made anything good.
She must be sucking dicks.
‘All the single ants put your hands up’ ….. heh, heh, heh
Okay, is it just me? Glenn reminds me of a warthog every damn time I look at him, albeit, an EARNEST warthog..
I think this was the first time Autumn has sculpted anything that wasn’t a mess. It was a nice beetle. If Megan hadn’t screwed up the paint job on her wings, she would have had a pretty decent moth. She really destroyed it with the bottom section.
Oh, and if I had to hear Jenna blubbering about her hands for ONE more bloody episode, I was gonna throw a cat through my TV. (Figuratively speaking….)
Did the judges not see the feet on Megan’s? At least Alam painted the feet. Megan must know someone. I liked Autumn’s tree guy in the first episode. The giant’s face looked cool too. The gummy bear was better than Jenna and Megan’s giant. Hurt hand or not, it’s still 4 hands to 2 and in that case 2 heads are obviously not better than 1 annoying one. I highly doubt any of the ladies will be seeing a finale regardless. Also who I do not think will make it, Eric Z. I have yet to see Eric Z. lead a team. His only good work was on the candy challenge. Other than that it seems he is assisting most of the time, like the other girls, unless they are teamed with him. I didn’t like the mosquito, the sculpting looked terrible. The condom comment is funny. My guess for the final 3 is Fox, Anthony and House. House is sloppy but quite creative.
Okay, and now they’re doing their version of Top Chef’s Last Chance Kitchen crap to see which of the losers will be invited back for a spot on the next season. Out of the first four, Katie won.
Alam painted the feet, but then she put some flip flops on them LOL.
She would have been better off just leaving them bare.
I can’t believe they’re trying to do a Last Chance Kitchen type shit with this show. Just let them go already!! Stop with the madness.
Alam was just too new. She didn’t have enough experience with the materials to really be able to last long in this competition.
I agree with the EricF’s titties. EVERY time. It’s getting to be a little ridiculous.
I really really wish they would’ve kept the body painting challenge they had in seasons 1 and 2. I got really excited when I saw the images on the screens, thinking that that’s what they were doing. I was saddened when I realized what the challenge really was. It showed a very different kind of talent, but one that is equally used in the industry.
@badgerfreak–I know, I hate that crap, do another episode with all the discards, on TV, or don’t do it at all. I liked the body painting challenge too.
Personally I think you all have way too much time on your hands- lets see your talents… Lets put this show/competition into perspective, a makeup that intricate can take up to a month to achieve so give them credit for doing it in 3 days. I personally know a few of these faceoff stars and they are just that STARS… Can any of you get on faceoff or on another reality show for that matter?? I think not, I think you’re a bunch of computer bully’s GET A FUCKIN LIFE ! Xo
