Last week, Katie was sent home for her shitty walker character and Anthony remains on a winning streak putting him at risk of being a house target. Jenna is worried that it was her fault that Katie was sent home because of her hand issues. Katie could have stepped in at any time to take over so it’s her fault she didn’t ram Jenna with a Mack truck during elimination. The loser table discusses how Autumn really thought she had a chance last episode to win and she confesses that the judges might be expecting more from her..no shit sherlock. The Foundation challenge this week is to create a bearded lady with the guest judge being the National Beard Champion. EricF says he can’t even manage his own hair and EricZ talks about laying a few beards in his time. *Giggle Giggle* The winner is EricZ who gets immunity for the next Elimination Challenge.

Meagan leads the group into the lab with her horrible leggings where they meet Mac in front of a huge Willy Wonka candy area. Alex always seems to have a surprised look on her face like she’s constantly getting shocked by a taser. The challenge is to create a candy creature using the candy that is all over the floor and probably littered with ants. Instead of getting time to sketch, everyone gets straight to work rotting their teeth out by chomping on candy and sculpting. Kris is doing a night of the living candy character, EricZ is doing a witch and Alam is doing an anime character. So stereotypical. EricF does a gummy bear blob, House creates a belly mashing character and Autumn creates a gummy bear warrior with an afro that looks more like a cat pig. Everything ends up looking like cat hybrids to these people.

Mac’s daddy walks in and basically tells Autumn how to change the face to look more bear-like. With all the resources available to her she had to rely on someone to help her? I guess Mac’s dad doesn’t stick around that long because he is only doing the show as a favor to Mac. Day 2 and Alex and Alam decide to use silicon even though they have never really used it before because during a competition you should practice on things you don’t have knowledge of. I’m sure this will turn out great for these people. Seriously though next season I demand they only recruit well-rounded artists. Oh you didn’t know? There’s a next season. Jenna continues to moan about her hand and ends up ripping her mannequin because she can’t release it from the mold. She really should have put some thought into whether she could fully compete before applying because I can’t go another couple of episodes of her complaining about it.

If you like it, spread it!:

I thought Anthony’s should definitely been in the top three. It was gorgeous and different from the other ideas. It was a travesty that Autumn didn’t go home. When you’re costume falls apart and is ugly to boot, it’s time to go home.
I think the judges didn’t understand the concept behind the chick who got sent home’s design. It’s Toddlers in Tiaras…all loaded up on candy-that’s what candy had to do with a beauty pagent! I wonder if she couldn’t say the name of the show and shame on the judges for not knowing of the scariest thing known to man: Toddler in Tiara moms!
I was expecting Anthony’s to at least make top 3, but they do have to mix it up, I suppose. This was the first challenge where he had serious competition, though, in my opinion. I’m also a bit biased because he’s tied to a project that I chipped in on on Kickstarter, and is going to be doing crazy zombie stuff with my favorite horror photographer. I know that’s a pretty small field, but seriously check out Joshua Hoffine’s stuff. No Photoshop, all photo, and total nightmare fuel. Plus, he totally looks like Dana Carvey in his prime.
If Eric F. was a little taller, I would swear that Crispin Glover was entering a new field or engaging in some sort of performance art. Just me?
They still could have cut all three on the bottom . . . That gummy bear was awful, the color, the wig, the sculpt, all of it!!! I cannot stand to hear another word about that hand!!!
I only wish Alam had done some kind of tinted plastic covering for the eyes, the make-up eyes didn’t work for me. I liked the costume, was like an unconventional challenge on PR!
I liked the challenge because the contestants had free reign over their design. Simply “make a candy creature” without any crazy twists or restrictions.
I think I get Alex was going for a “Chubby Pageant Girl” like Honey Boo Boo (or Toddlers an Tiaras) but it was executed so poorly…..poor is too nice of a word for it. Make the model chubby (i.e. fat suit) with candy literally coming out of her skin, too tight dress with buttons and seams ripping apart, and candy, LOTS AND LOTS of candy!!! All she had was a candy necklace and bracelet. And a wig that looked like one of Amy Winehouse’s rejects. Awful, awful execution.
Jenna’s hand injury is becoming an issue. I really wished she would have voluntarily taken Katie’s place last week, and just stepped up and said “My hand is messed up, I can’t continue…..I volunteer to go home”. Her creations are suffering because of it.
I was really disappointed – again – this week. I just don’t get why everything has to have a horror tint to it. What happened to maybe a fantastical, whimsical, or funny take on the challenge? Or simply change the name of the show to “face of horror” or something like that and I’ll stop expecting something different. I though Anthony’s definitely should have been in the top three. Was it just me, or did anyone else think that House’s stomach being able to chew was just a lucky thing since he didn’t even know his model could belly dance until they told him? And Autumn not going home after hers was falling apart was just wrong. Maybe they want her on for her annoying and clueless comments and nasal voice. Ugh. Hey Jenna. Get a brace or some elastic wrap or DO something about your hand or just shut up about it. We get it. Jeeze.
How does someone even get ON this show if they have never made and/or laid a silicone appliance? Do they have no standards? And I’m a bit tired of all the horror. There is so much more to SFX makeup than monsters and mutants. I wonder if that’s one of the reasons Anthomy has done well – even his demon was beautiful in a demonic kind of way.
And Jenna? Please. She’s the female Rod but with less personality.
And will they please send Autumn home? Even ignoring the annoying voice, her work is really sloppy and just not good.
This should have been a triple elimination. Everyone just go the fuck home.
Autumn’s sculpt was strange as hell, the feet and hand transitions looked awful, the wardrobe was tragic, and worst of all, she put a fucking wig on it. Why not just do a full headpiece?
No wonder no one wanted it. If I picked up a gummi bear with hair on it, I wouldn’t eat that shit either.
Alex didn’t take her idea far enough, didn’t explain it fully to the judges, and the whole thing looked like shit. Like the worst case of eczema known to man.
And I feel bad for Jenna, but we’ve established that her hands don’t work. If they don’t work now, they’re not gonna work tomorrow or the day after that. Nothing short of surgery to remove the tumor will make her hands work. Just send her home. She didn’t paint her model’s feet either.
I’m also disappointed that Anthony wasn’t in the top. His was the most clean and polished thing up there, but I guess it didn’t have enough actual candy on it.
Oh!!
And Wayne lost mad points with me for judging the other contestants for gorging themselves on candy during the challenge. If someone puts unlimited candy in front of them, what are they supposed to do? Only use it for their creations? When you can eat it?!
This is America, we don’t do that here. If we can eat it, we gonna eat it.
He was like…oh it’s better to drink water while you work so you can stay hydrated.
Man, get that water and hydration shit out of here, ain’t nobody got time for that.
I bet he’s that one guy in the neighborhood who gives out raisins and apples on Halloween.
Totally agree @chaosbutterfly about Wayne pooing on the other contestants for chowing down on the free candy.
I was really disappointed that almost everyone used rock candy. They had TONS of options! I also agree with @firecracker. I thought this challenge would be great, because they were going to have to use tons of color and be playful and light, instead of always dark and horror. WRONG. Come on! There’s more to this kind of work than just horror.
What happened to the body painting challenge with the crazy backgrounds? I really liked that one.
If I have to hear about Jenna’s hand for much longer, I’ll break it off myself. Go home! You’re unfit to compete!
The background challenge was pretty awesome, I’ll never forget when they stuck the fern in the girl’s butt as part of the background.
