Ink Master: Semi Nude 911 Recap

So last episode Cee Jay made herself look like a skeleton by popping ink all over her face and then she was sent home because she spelt a book in the bible incorrectly. Steve lets the others know as he walks in that she was let go because she couldn’t spell and Clint reiterates that if she hadn’t have made such a mistake Kay would have been out of there. The next challenge is based on thinking on the fly and the artists are given basically naked chicks to airbrush into the background. One of the bitches looks like that girl Bianca from America’s Next Top Model and I only recognized her from her messed up teeth. Weird.

The artists are given 3 hours and Tempu airbrushing kits to make their models disappear. Kay ends up placing his model in a “K” position on the side of building while sitting on a tire. Nick puts his girl under a bush which causes Clint to call him out for lacking creativity. He has one of the best interviews I have heard in a while because he says that he would have hidden his model in a tire and when the judges asked where his model was he would have answered that he won. Touche Crybaby. Mike gets the tallest model but he says it happens to him all the time and that he doesn’t let his height get in his way. TJ was in the war and has 5 slipped discs and was told that by 35 he would be in a wheelchair. So of course he knocks over some paint and when he goes to pick it up he feels sharp pains shooting down his legs but pushes on. The judges note Sarah’s texture tricks and that everyone on the grey wall seems to be feeding off each other in a bad way.

TJ

Tatu Fatty

Steve (those aren’t model thighs…)

Sarah

Ron

Nick

Mike

Mark

Lalo

Kay

Jesse

Jamie

Clint

The judges agree that Clint and Kay both did a good job, Steve did a great flake and decomposition display and Nick may have hid his girl in a bush but he did a good job. The winner is Kay because he was able to hide his model from different angles. Crybaby Clint is fuming because he really felt that he should have won. TJ can no longer handle the pain he is going through so he visits the hospital who wants to put rods in his back. He has slipped another disc and now his biggest fear is not walking again. Before the next challenge is announced, TJ tells everyone that he will be leaving the competition because he has a family and career to think about. TJ wobbles out and he seems to be okay since he’s been going to tattoo conventions since the show wrapped.

You have the wrong title on this. It’s Ink Masters not Face Off. Back to reading!

I wonder if Kay’s back hurts from kissing his own ass all the time. Ugh I seriously don’t like him.
But I really like Crybaby Clint? I don’t know why either, he makes me laugh or something. Something is clearly wrong with me. I still don’t have a favorite but wtf? Rework Nick should have gone home. At least Mike did a pretty solid tat that covered up the old one.

No problem SG – I just realized Both Ink Masters say Face Off. I watch both shows and read both your recaps, so I was happy that you recapped both Ink Masters, cause Spike TV doesn’t know how to tell time si

Sorry – had a glitch – I missed who went home cause Spike doesn’t know how to tell time. I liked Mike’s pitbull tattoo and thought he should have stayed. Feel better!

I know I’m in the minority, but both Hubby Butterfly and I agreed that even though Nick didn’t “cover-up” his tattoo, he DID give the Client a tattoo he could live AND made the tattoo the Client could NOT live with “disappear”. I’m going to give Nick the slide here, because that should be the TRUE point of the cover-up. And much classier than some of the other artists who were strong-arming their clients into “do it my way or nothing”.

Personally, I think Lalo should have gone home, since his cover-up didn’t COVER UP!

I agree. And I think technically he did cover it up; you can’t tell that there was an old tattoo there, and he made the old tattoo it into an entirely new one. Just like in the Flash challenge, he didn’t cheat, he grasped the ingenuity that was the focus of the week.

Also I hate Crybaby. Everything and everyone is against him, and anyone who does something better than him is cheating.

Why not combine the two shows and call the recap “Face Master” or “Ink Face” lol :P

I was very bummed to see Mike go. I thought that dog kicked ass, and was more than just a plain ol’ black tattoo, like the judges said. If you look at his gallery on spike.com, he has done several dog tattoos (and they all look good), I figure that’s a specialty of his and he did his thing.

Nick’s lighthouse was cool..but nothing about it was a cover-up. The original wave stuck out like a sore thumb, the colors were so much darker.

mark’s dragon tattoo was even worse, that thing was pretty ugly. He should have went home.

I really didn’t get why the judges were bitching at Mike about his tattoo.
Yeah, it was a black dog.
But it was nice black dog. It was clean, and the highlights he had in there were nice. He probably should have done some coloring on the underside of the dog to make it more different, but it was a nice tattoo. And most importantly, it was what the client wanted.

If anyone needed to go home, it should have been Mark. His tattoo was pretty lame and he has sucked butt pretty much every step of the competition so far. I would have also been glad to see Tatu Baby leave. I’m gonna start calling her Katherine actually. No more indulging her bullshit.
And I think technically, Nick’s tattoo was a cover up. It didn’t literally cover up the thing, but it did cover up the fact that the canvas once had a really shitty tattoo by replacing it with a better one. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

I voted for Clint’s dragon thing as my favorite this week. It kind of burned my soul to do it, especially with the way that he was talking about/to his canvas, but I really like it.
I wish he weren’t such an ass, because I could see liking him. If he snarked more and bitched/whined less, he’d be way more likeable.

And as much as it burns my soul to admit this, Kay Kutta’s bird was better than Steve’s.
It was not as anatomically correct, because peacock feathers come from the bird’s butt not its head, but it’s a much prettier tattoo. The sad thing is that you can see he’s starting to get a big head because he put on a black outline (which his ass is supposed to do anyway) and won a flash challenge. Hopefully, that confidence makes him fuck up bad enough to go home next week. Maybe he can finally make some headway on his rapping career.

OMG – I’m watching Tommy’s new show and boy is it cheese – eee! I like the cover up tattoos, but the story’s are acted out like a bad tellanovella. Sad face.
